A Message from the President College professors will tell you that they know from the first day of class which girls attended all-girls’ schools. Of course we know you’re looking for high school, not college. But the academic goal of high school? It’s to prepare you to succeed at the college of your choice.

So, yeah, it matters what college admissions counselors and professors say. And what they say is that young women who have attended all-girls’ schools are not afraid to speak up because they have spent four years being the only leaders in all areas of the classroom, field and activities.

There’s never been a more vital time to be involved in the mission of educating young women. At Beaumont School, not only are we educating you with academic rigor, we also are modeling and providing opportunities for you to “do good” in the world.

More than just getting an A in biology, the young women of Beaumont are given opportunities to apply that knowledge in a lab setting.

They aren’t just writing college-level research papers through the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, they are advocating for issues that matter to them. They aren’t just learning French, they travel to France and Italy and are given opportunities to use their language skills in other countries. They are able to translate mathematics and physics into robots that smash the competition. They unite their passions for art and science to design objects for everyday use. They learn how to create one sound out of many voices and to express themselves on the canvas, stage and field.

Why are we so confident? We’ve got a LOT of experience doing this. As the oldest school in Cleveland, we know a thing or two about educating young women. We know that it’s important to keep it small, to focus on you, to be interactive and allow participation, to create independent thinkers and to develop you as a whole person.

CONFIDENT At Beaumont you will be joining Academic All-Americans, Phi Beta Kappa, Blue Streaks forever, French raconteurs, world travelers, and paleontologists in training. TAKE THE INITIATIVE ASK QUESTIONS FIND YOUR VOICE At the heart of Beaumont’s academic program is an exceptional college preparatory curriculum that welcomes your critical thinking, curiosity, and collaboration. As a student at the only all-girls’ school in Northeast Ohio to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, you will become a global-minded citizen prepared to solve the critical problems we face in the world.

The International Baccalaureate Programme is built around The Core: Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is an interdisciplinary course designed to help you question and understand how you know what you know.

Creativity-Activity-Service (CAS) is the experiential learning component of IB. You will complete a wide variety of extracurricular, community service and athletic options.

The Extended Essay (EE) introduces you to the demands and the rewards of independent work. Emphasis is placed on doing university-level research and communicating your ideas effectively in an essay in an area of personal interest to you.

With an IB diploma you’ll be twice as likely to get accepted into the most competitive colleges and universities in the world, and you’ll receive more scholarship dollars.

Science. Technology. Engineering. Math. We know girls discover by doing, and that they are motivated by real and tangible work they do in STEM. They want to code, build, design, and solve real problems with real solutions.

At Beaumont, we make it real. You will do experiments and projects that affect everyday life. For example, you may work on a 3D-printed hand to the exact specifications of a child who needs a prosthetic hand.

We make it relevant. You’ll solve real problems in project-based formats that are engaging and encourage innovation. For example, you might be on our next robotics team to design, build, and run a combat robot at competition. Last year, we were the only all-girls’ high school in the robot competition where we took third nationally and first for documentation, presentation, and design.

We make it possible. You’ll hear from role models, mentors, alumnae who are working and leading in STEM careers today.

STUDIO ART Emerging artist? You’ll love Beaumont’s Studio Art Program. Enroll in the only all-girls’ high school four-year program of its kind in Cleveland. Study under the guidance of faculty who are all practicing artists, and an internationally recognized artist-in-residence. Create in the inspiring studio environment alongside your artist classmates.

Draw, paint, design, photograph, sculpt, sew. You’ll be amazed at your portfolio at the end of four years. Use it for admission to art school or college programs. Show off all of your creativity and hard work at the Annual Spring Senior Exhibition, similar to a Bachelor of Fine Arts show.

Love to act? Beaumont Drama Club presents two major productions, along with smaller pieces throughout the year. Whether you want to be the lead, in a supporting role, set designer, or management, you have every opportunity to lead and shine. You’ll have fun, find your voice, and perform in front of sold out crowds.

Love music? Join Voices of Harmony, our choir group and you just may get to sing the National Anthem at the Cleveland Indians game. Or sing overseas or at local events and locations. Play an instrument and you are welcome to join our Chamber Jazz Orchestra.

YOU WILL SOAR ATHLETICS AT BEAUMONT IS AN EXTENSION OF WHAT WE TEACH IN THE CLASSROOM BETWEEN 8 A.M. AND 3 P.M. EVERY DAY: You’ll learn valuable skills beyond the sports themselves: time management, how to be a good teammate, and how to be a good leader.

You’ll learn that it isn’t just about coming to practice every day but it’s about loving how you spend your time.

And you’ll learn that everything you give to your sport and teammates will come back to you tenfold.

If you dig archaeology, you’ll want to join the Dino Dig, a summer trip to a different destination each year. We’re the only high school participating and our group discovered an artifact that is now cataloged and housed in a museum.

A club about “doing.” Our students do the Hour of Code, tour local tech companies, learn and apply new technologies, and teach young girls at Be@uTech Bootcamp.

Gg GROUP GUIDANCE We get it. Transitions to high school and beyond can be stressful. We help our students turn these challenges into opportunities. Our weekly group meetings with counselors and students provide a chance to learn self-advocacy, time management, and courage to tackle issues as they arise.

Ii INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE Beaumont is the only all-girls’ high school in Cleveland offering the IB Diploma. Students who complete the IB Diploma are twice as likely to get accepted into the most competitive universities in the world, can earn nearly two semesters worth of college credit through their IB courses, and receive far more scholarship dollars from universities.

Sr. Dorothy was an Ursuline sister and beloved Beaumont staff member before becoming a missionary who was martyred in El Salvador in 1980. She continues to inspire our students to serve with integrity, faith, and compassion, and to advocate for justice for all.

Nn NATABEES Natalie Majc ’18 is part entrepreneur, part agricultural activist, and part cultural caretaker. Four years ago, she assumed the responsibility of maintaining the family’s beehives which had been handed down by her grandfather, who had kept bees as a hobby. She has turned this into an organic business and sells Natabee’s Honey at local farmers markets and online through Facebook. Natalie was a member of the Entrepreneurship Club at Beaumont which is part of the Veale Youth Entrepreneurship Forum.

80% of Beaumont teachers hold advanced degrees and specialty licenses in their academic fields. Beaumont also has 50% that are certified and trained to teach International Baccalaureate classes.

Rr ROBOTICS For 10 months our Robotics team meets on Saturdays at Christopher Tool in Solon to build an award-winning combat robot. Our team competes locally and nationally, placing in the top 3 spots each year. Our team is the only all-girls’ team out of college and high schools competing.

One of the only high schools in the area that offers a Studio Art major. Our 4-year program results in a portfolio for admission to art school or college. THEATER Each year our students produce major productions complete with student actors, set designers, choreographers, musicians, and managers. Our fashion department even makes the costumes you see on stage.

TRAVEL #BeaumontTravels tracks our student groups and faculty as they cross the globe. They travel to Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Ireland, Poland, Holland, El Salvador, and parts in the US.

Yy YESS Project YESS, Youth Empowered to Succeed through Sailing, is a sailing program offered through the Rotary Club of Cleveland that lets you join the working crew of a Tall Ship on Lake Erie for a week during the summer. You learn how to sail, seamanship, celestial navigation, environmental awareness, leadership, teamwork, and grit.

SCHEDULE A SHADOW DAY As an 8th grader you can spend a day with a Beaumont Ambassador and discover why Beaumont School is the perfect fit for you! We encourage all 8th grade girls to take the opportunity to visit or shadow with a Beaumont Ambassador for the day. For the fall of 2020, we hope to resume on campus visits. Please check with our website for current availability.

TUITION ASSISTANCE Any family who wishes to be considered for financial assistance must fill out a FACTS form. The form will be available through Beaumont School or online in the early fall. The deadline for all incoming freshman is November 16, 2020.

CATHOLIC GRADE SCHOOL Students applying from a Catholic grade school will complete their application and teacher recommendations at their respective school. Grade schools will be administering the applications to their students in January. In order for Beaumont to receive your application Beaumont must be listed as “First Choice� High School.

All 8th grade students interested in applying to Beaumont School are required to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) as part of the admissions process.

Testing dates are scheduled for: October 10th, 17th OR November 14th Students that score within the 90th percentile on the entrance exam receive a presidential scholarship.
