Aqua-Fit Phase 2 The proposed Aqua-Fit Phase 2 Project is an expansion and modernization of our existing indoor pool; it includes an NHL sized ice rink, an indoor fieldhouse, a high school sized gymnasium, an indoor climbing wall and a running track. The total cost of the project is projected to be $29.5M, with an estimated build time of 20 months. On June 26, 2018, Council resolved to approve the hiring of a Construction Manager for te Aqua-Fit Phase 2 Project, and to work with Beaumont and professional trades on a fixed sum contract and confirmed build time moving forward. This process works well for Beaumont as it allows the Aqua-Fit Phase 2 to progress, it gives Council one last opportunity

to approve the final construction price, timeline, and it allows us to continue to seek other funding sources for the Project. The other benefit is that if Council proceeds with the Project by late September, it would allow the Aqua-Fit Phase 2 construction to begin in mid-October by laying the foundation and piles in ground before winter frost. It further allows the steel frames to be put up over the winter months saving on heating costs. Beaumont has started the implementation process of a Borrowing Bylaw for the Project. This Bylaw is for $26.65M and will be heard by Council at their September 11, 2018 Meeting. Watch www.beaumont.ab.ca/289 for more details over the summer months.

Our Zoning Blueprint: Beaumont’s New Land Use Bylaw Beaumont has begun the process of re-writing its Land Use Bylaw! What is a Land Use Bylaw? The Land Use Bylaw is a regulatory document which provides the rules on how land can be developed within Beaumont. The Land Use Bylaw identifies different land use districts throughout Beaumont and specifies what types of development may be built within those districts, such as commercial or residential uses. Each district also has specific development standards that control the size, location, and amount of buildings, landscaping, parking, and signage. It regulates things that indirectly influence all areas of our lives. For instance, the Land Use Bylaw directs what houses look like, where stores are located, how far toBEAUMONT get to daycare, and what size of fence to build. The Land Use ZONING BLUEPRINT Project Timeline Bylaw also contains details on how applications for changes can be made, how they are assessed, and who makes the decisions.

Where are we in the process now? After a round of public engagement that involved design charrettes, open houses, workshops, a survey, and a variety of pop up events, the project team is taking everything we heard to write a draft of the new Land Use Bylaw, called Our Zoning Blueprint. The “What We Heard Report” includes a summary of all the public engagement to date and can be found as of July 23 on www.letstalkbeaumont.ca/ourzoning. After the new draft of Our Zoning Blueprint - Land Use Bylaw is complete we will come back to the public for feedback and refinement in the fall. July 16 Paintball Trip to Paintball Action Games outdoor field and supplying a BBQ dinner for you too! The cost is $50/person which includes rentals and 300 paintballs. Minimum 15 players needed, so tell your friends! Pack comfortable shoes that can get dirty, bug spray and sunscreen. Meet at the CBYC at 3:30 p.m.

2018 Summer Youth Programs Children Ages 3 - 11 The Town of Beaumont is offering full day camps, as well as half day Preschool Camps! Full Day Camps — Ages 5 – 11 Wilderness Week, Mission Impossible, Rocket into Outer Space, and The Amazing Race Beaumont! Half Day Camps — Ages 3 – 5 Nature Adventures, Pirates & Mermaids, Mini Superheroes, Holidaze, and Disney Week! All camps are located at the Beaumont Community Centre, 5204-50 Avenue and registration closes one week before camp start dates. Monday Funday Day Camps Youth Ages 12 - 17 The Chantal Berube Youth Centre (CBYC) is running Monday Funday Summer Day Camps this year! Each Monday of the summer (except August 6) we will have a different event or trip for youth aged 12 - 17 to be a part of. Registration is required. Here’s what we’re doing: July 9 Gamer Day Participate in Mario Kart, Just Dance and Smash Bros tournaments and spend time in the the iPlay Game Theatre. There will be food and prizes. Cost is $5/person.

July 23 Wrestling/Boxing Skill Development Learn some new techniques or strengthen your existing skills. We will have trained professionals to show you the ropes and food will be provided. July 30 Trip to the Legislature Grounds Laze in the sun, explore the gardens, play Pokémon, check out the interpretive centre, cool off in the wading pool and enjoy a tasty picnic! Bring your swim suit, towel, sunscreen and bug spray. Cost is $10/person. Meet at the CBYC at 3:30 p.m. August 13 Youth Amazing Race Register on your own (and we will put you on a team) or as a pre-made team of 2-5 to compete in puzzles and challenges around Beaumont. There will be a BBQ for all and prizes for the winners! Teams will start the race at staggered times, BBQ starts at 4:00 p.m. at the CBYC. Cost is $2/person or $5/team of three or more. August 20 Swim and a Movie in Leduc We will be going to the Outdoor Pool in Leduc for a few hours and then to a movie at the Leduc Cinemas! Pack your swim suit, towel, bug spray, sunscreen and meet at the CBYC at 2:00 p.m.. We will also have a picnic before the movie. Cost is $25/person (movie snacks not included). Aug 27 Back-to-School Connect FREE Haircuts, FREE gently used clothes, FREE school supplies, FREE manicures, pedicures and massage! As a sweet little gift from us to you, come by and access these free services. There is no cost but you do need to register so we know how many supplies to have and how many hair cutters! Upcoming Events Family Fun BBQ August 22, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. FCSS Office (5817 Rue Eaglemont) Beaumont Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is hosting a Family Fun BBQ to raise awareness of programs and services available in Beaumont. There will be free hotdogs, drinks, and activities for the whole family. Community members will have the opportunity to meet staff from the local FCSS office, Youth Centre, and Child Care Services. This is a great opportunity for individuals and families to meet and connect with others in the community. Join us at the FCSS office to learn more about the upcoming workshops and events in Beaumont such as: Movie in the park, Parent Link and Early Childhood Resource Programs, Youth Programs, and Senior Services. Everyone is welcome!

Fall Awareness Thursday, September 6 This annual event is an opportunity for community groups to promote their programs, services, accept registrations, memberships and recruit volunteers. The Town has criteria for participating in this event; groups must be offering leisure time or wellness opportunities and be: • Local, non-profit organizations (proof of non-profit status or registered society number may be required) • Local, private individuals or organizations (must possess Beaumont business license) • Non-local, non-profit organizations offering opportunities not already being offered within Beaumont • Other requests will be evaluated on an individual basis • Non-local private individuals or organizations and/or political parties will not be permitted to attend Awareness Events.
