Editor: Lion Lyndell Gustave R C

It is my pleasure to continue with the publication of this wonderful Newsletter - the Region Scoop- from my predecessors, Lions Leroi and Jerry, I am delighted to issue this first half year edition for the Lionistic year 2019/2020. The aim is to share this and other publications in 2020, to show the success stories in an effort to keep you abreast with the performance and progress of the Clubs in Region 3.
I am Lion Lyndell Gustave, your Region Chairperson for this Lionistic Year and I am a proud member of the Lions Club of Castries in Zone 3B
I am honoured to serve as your Region Chair and my goal is to “Make a Difference”. I hope to be a reliable source of assistance to my Zone Chairpersons and to see that Lionism is more visible in Region 3. My personal Lions’ Project this year is to encourage Clubs in each Zone to mentor Lions/Leos to be involved, caring members and to promote retention in the Clubs in our Region.
It has been pointed out that service Clubs are folding, membership dropping and interest in community projects are no longer a priority. This is not the case in our Region, from the various reports received thus far, we are working in our communities - and I say bravo! Lions of Region 3 - continue doing what we love best “Serve”.
Our District Governor has set out her goals for this year and I urge each Club to centre their projects around these goals.
I continue to pledge my support to my Zone Chairpersons and in the same manner asking my Zone Chairpersons to give their full support and guidance to the Clubs in their Zones. This my Fellow Lions will improve the Lionism spirit in Region 3. A friendly reminder to become familiar with the District Officers in your Zone and utilize their services and expertise.
My heartfelt thanks to Lion Leroi who has agreed to assist in the editing of the publication and to my Zone Chairs for their continued assistance.
Let us make this Lionistic year one of “Service without Boundaries: Touching Lives, Transforming Communities” in Region 3.
Best Regards, Lion Lyndell Z. Gustave
Region 3 Chairperson

A ventriloquist is performing with his dummy on his lap. He’s telling a dumb blond joke when a young platinum-haired beauty jumps to her feet. “What gives you the right to stereotype blondes that way?” she demands. “What does hair colour have to do with my worth as a human being?” Flustered, the ventriloquist begins to stammer out an apology. “You keep out of this!” she yells. “I’m talking to that little jerk on your knee!” A middle-aged man goes into the doctor’s office for a check-up with a litany of complaints. The doctor speaks to the man’s wife alone and says, “There is nothing the matter with your husband. If you make a couple of meals for him a day, let him watch his sports. Do not complain at him too much -ask him to listen. Limit his exposure to in-laws and make love to him once a week. Then, he’ll probably live another 20 years.” She returns to her husband’s side in the waiting room. He asks, “What did the doctor tell you?”
“You are going to be dying soon, my dear.”
TIME …
Your time is valuable and how you choose to spend it is important. You may be only one of more than 1.4 million members, but your time and dedication is what keeps Lions Clubs International ticking as the world’s largest service club organization.

On the 27th December 2019, the US$553.00 was wire transferred to the University Hospital in Jamaica. Ist Vice District Governor –Lion Maureen Graham PMJF
Leos, My Fellow Lions,
I take this opportunity to wish you and your families the best of everything for the New Year. Recognizing that there is no perfect life, I pray that you be blessed with the strength necessary to make the best of it
The year 2020 promises to be a visionary one, not only for our movement. In the second half of this Lionistic year, I challenge you to begin it with reflections. In the true Lionistic spirit, I ask that we look back as we look forward but not to be stuck in the past. From my privileged position, I recognize that throughout the District Clubs are having challenges. There is nothing wrong in having challenges, but how we overcome them matters –since hurdles are placed with purposes, destine to bring consciousness. We must try not to excuse them away but confront them.
In our Organization the time to act is now. Let us look and see how we can make things better during this half of the year. One make ask, how can we? Let me offer you a Tool which is designed for the task at hand. It is affectionately called the “District 60B Forward”
Let me ask? Have we opened the package? Have we completed the Club Assessment? Have we done the SWOT Analysis? Have we identified the two areas requiring our immediate attention? Have we developed the road map? Have we commenced the process? Where are we??
If the answer is: - We are thinking about it We hope to start soon We don’t understand
Then I say to you, we have lost a fantastic opportunity in the last six months, but I also say to you, that you still have time to catch up and the time is NOW
Club District 60B Team, I challenge you to get on top of the Job. Stop planning and thinking and get to the task at hand. Take out the workbook and start the job. Don’t be stuck in your comfort zone, move outside the box, the possibilities are countless. .
I see the District 60B Forward as: ✓ The tool designed to keep us focused and to ensure that our Brand lives on. ✓ It will guide us to addressing our Leadership, Membership, Financial and Service issues ✓ It will help us address the ideologies of our movement, all wrapped up in our mandate “To Serve”
I am appealing to each and every Leo and Lion in Region 3 and by extension Sub District 60B to recommit yourselves with the vigour and the tenacity to ensure that District 60B Forward is ‘travelling’- as together we will leave this District a better place.
I love you all and may God continue to bless you.
Lion Maureen Graham PMJF !st Vice District Governor

The Region wishes you: Peace to bring comfort Courage to face the days ahead & Loving memories to forever hold dear in your heart

40 th MULTIPLE DISTRICT CONVENTION
Lions and Leos, it is Convention time againMay 13 -17, 2020 in Barbados!!!!

Hilton Barbados is getting ready to welcome the delegates from the District for the 40 th Multiple District convention. The organizing committee is preparing to receive Lions and Leos from May 13 th -17 th 2020 to what is hoped to be a successful climax, to over a year of planning. The highlight of the Convention will be a tree planting ceremony which will take place after the MD 60 convention meeting on the Saturday afternoon.
As part of the Government of Barbados’ initiative to plant one million trees during this year, the organizing committee has committed 20 of the Lion member countries to plant a tree in the name of their respective countries. In recognition of their twenty years of service as a drug rehabilitative centre, the committee has joined with Verdun House, to carry out this project. We are inviting as many delegates to take this scenic trip on the rugged side of the island, to witness this historic occasion.
The official opening ceremony on Thursday May 14 th will signalled the start of what is hoped to be positive dialogue, as we reflect on the work of our many organizations which make up the multiple district, some entertainment and great fellowship. Our highest leaders of the land have agreed to grace us with their presence as they declare the convention open.
The usual workshops, parade, Bajan Night and the Council of Governors’ Ball will all add to the excellent package we have awaiting delegates. After the many workshops and the general discussions, the committee has a hospitality room swinging to keep you entertained to ensure that your 2020 experience will linger in the minds of many for years.
If you have not yet done so, be reminded that early bird registration of US$225.00 ends on February 15th 2020, thereafter, it moves to US$250.00 with US$275.00 payable on site.
We look forward to welcoming Lions and Leos of the Multiple District to Barbados May 2020.
