South Coast Property Specialist (Carlene Franzen) Tips: 2020 PROPERTY INVESTMENT PROFESSIONALS OF AUSTRALIA (PIPA) REPORT PIPA Annual Property Investor Sen ment Survey is Australia’s most comprehensive snapshot of the na on’s property investor community. This survey provides a detailed summary of Australia’s residen al property investors and how they think. The Chair of PIPA, Peter Koulizos summarised the report by saying: “While there is no doubt that 2020 has been one of the toughest in living memory for everyone around the globe, property investors have remained stoic in the face of the unprecedented uncertainty that we are all experiencing.

“About 67% of investors believe that now is a good me to invest in residen al property, which is down from 82% in 2019 and no doubt a direct impact of the pandemic. However, at the current me, the property market has con nued to show its resilience with prices materially stable in most parts of the na on. That said, there is likely to be big changes to not only where people choose to invest, but also to where they may prefer to live in the years ahead. Indeed, more than 17% of respondents say COVID-19 has made them consider moving to another loca on with main reasons being improved lifestyle factors (78%), working from home in the future (46%) and housing affordability (40%). It seems that regional loca+ons are set to benefit from plenty of new residents with investors indica+ng their top loca+ons to migrate to are regional NSW (21%), regional Qld (18%), Brisbane (16%) and regional Vic (14%). Queensland is definitely in the sights of investors, with 36% saying it offers the best investment prospects over the next year, followed by Victoria (27%) and New South Wales (21%).

“Likewise, the propor+on of investors that say regional markets are the most appealing has increased to 22% from 15% in 2019, with coastal loca+ons also on the rise – up to nearly 12% from 8% last year.”

This is more good news for loca ons like Batemans Bay and Malua Bay.
