Interest Rates Flat, Infla on Up, Property Prices Going Up This week the Reserve Bank of Australia held the cash rate at 0.10% which was predicted by the finance industry and almost every analyst. The RBA has stated previously that low rates are going to be around for quite a while so this was not startling news. But with infla+on star+ng to creep up, what are the experts saying about housing prices over the next couple of years?

Brace yourselves folks, as the analysts are predic+ng an average of 12% increase in housing prices across the capital ci+es over the next two years. This will put the median predicted house in Sydney to an eye watering $1m.

Corelogic’s Home Value Index reported that in February, Australia property prices rose 2.1% over January which is the largest month-on-month increase in property prices since 2003 and we all remember the boom that occurred around that +me.

While the predic+ons are never granular enough to cover individual regional areas such as ours, we should expect significant increases in prices as well par+cularly in this coming 12 months while working remotely is s+ll “the rage”. It is possible that when the COVID-19 vaccine rolls out more extensively towards the end of the year, large businesses and government agencies will “request” that more and more staff return to their normal workplace which may take some of the demand for regional proper+es.

So all of this makes now a great +me to start planning to sell.
