Deputy “It is a Damn Shame” - 11 Acres of Pristine Arcadia Involved Woodland Bulldozed By Los Angeles County Shooting at BY TERRY MILLER Peck Road bout two dozen Los Angeles County Park County sheriff’s Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy involved shooting which occurred at Peck Road County Park, 5401 Peck Road in the unincorporated area of Arcadia. Detectives have learned that deputies were called to the park to investigate a domestic violence incident. They contacted the victim who said her boyfriend assaulted her. While making contact with the suspect, he became hostile. He held a pit bull dog by a leash in one hand and a knife in his other hand. The suspect advanced the deputies. Fearing for his safety, one deputy fired twice at the suspect, striking him and stopping the attack. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. No deputies were injured. A knife was recovered at the scene. There is no further information available at this time.

deputies approached the entrance below the Santa Anita Dam on Elkins after they discovered four people had climbed trees at about 4am in an effort to prevent the county from cutting down the 11-acre oak woodland north of Arcadia. Additionally, 5 protestors held paintings of trees and signs of discontent with the county’s plans which are to remove 11 acres of oaks and sycamores. One of the tree sitters was John Quigley who was perched in a grove of oaks and sycamores being torn down by county Public Works in Arcadia on Wednesday morning. According to sources Quigley and one other male along with two females were staged in different trees as of Wednesday noon. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Capt.
