Residents were encouraged to take alternate routes through Washington Street,
Jackson Street, Calhoun Street and Golf Center Parkway for north and south travel and through Highway 111, Dr. Carreon Boulevard, Avenue 54, Miles Avenue and Fred Waring Drive for east and west travel.
Palm Springs student diagnosed with TB, prompting health warnings

The Riverside City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved an agreement between the city and the Dosan Ahn Chang Ho Memorial Foundation of the Americas to explore the development of a KoreanAmerican cultural center. The cultural center would focus on the accomplishments of Dosan Ahn Chang Ho, founder of the Pachappa Camp which was home to 300 Koreans working in the River- side citrus industry in 1905, according to an announcement from the city. Dosan went on to become a leader in the Korean independence movement that sought liberation from Japanese occupation, and he is regarded as the father of democracy in Korea where he is revered.
As a patriot and civil rights leader, Dosan was the Minister of Labor of the Korean Provisional Government in exile, advocating for democracy and freedom. A statue memorializing him was erected on the Main Street Mall at University Avenue in 2001.
“Dosan Ahn Chang Ho exemplifies the values that we treasure as Americans, and this center would help current and future generations understand how his time in our city changed the course of history,” Mayor Patricia

APalm Springs middle school student is undergoing treatment for tuberculosis, prompting health officials Thursday to issue an advisory recommending that anyone who may have come into contact with the youth to get tested.
According to the Riverside County Department of Public Health, the Raymond Cree Middle School student, whose name was not released, fell ill recently and was diagnosed with active tuberculosis.
“We are working in collaboration with the Riverside University Health System on notification and screening logistics to ensure that students and staff who may have been exposed receive the information and follow up guidance in a timely manner,” Palm Springs Unified School District Director of Health Services Laura Dyson said.
