Aug. 23

At 8:37 a.m., an officer contacted a male subject loitering near a closed business at 440 E. Huntington Drive. Through a consensual search, the officer discovered the subject was in possession of multiple stolen credit cards and a stolen driver’s license. Further investigation revealed the subject lied to officers about his identity. The 32-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested.

At 6:02 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a shoplifting report. The suspect concealed clothing, jewelry, and candy in a shopping bag and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. The 65-year-old female from San Gabriel was issued a citation.

At 9:05 p.m. officers responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, 300 W. Huntington Drive, regarding a subject causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. An investigation revealed the subject had verbally and physically assaulted hospital employees. The 35-year-old male from Duarte was issued a citation and released.

Aug. 24

At 1:24 p.m., an officer responded to a traffic collision that had just occurred. An investigation revealed the driver collided with two parked cars. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 61-year-old male from Lynwood was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested.

At 8:42 p.m., an officer patrolling the area of South Baldwin Avenue and West Duarte Road conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration. Further investigation revealed the driver was driving with an expired driver’s license and he was in possession of personal identifying and credit account information. The 41-year-old male from Alhambra was arrested and transported to the Arcadia

Aug. 25

At 1:36 p.m., an officer responded to JC Penny, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed a female suspect concealed over $1,000 worth of make up inside a black bag and fled the scene.

At 2:24 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a grand theft report. Two female suspects made separate purchases using the same credit card. One suspect asked for three large bags. They then walked around the store concealing over $1,400 worth of merchandise in the bags before leaving the store without paying. The investigation is ongoing.

At 11:33 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for making an illegal turn near the intersection of West Duarte Road and El Monte Avenue. An investigation revealed the driver was driving without a driver’s license. The 31-year-old male from Tulare was arrested.

Aug. 26

At 6:09 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Duarte Road and East Golden West Avenue regarding a traffic collision. Two drivers collided when one driver exited a driveway and entered the roadway. The second driver was pushed into a light pole. Neither of the drivers were not injured.

At 8:44 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Oakhurst Lane regarding a fraud report. The victim attempted to purchase a puppy online. She sent $400 to the seller who then asked for additional money. The seller never sent the puppy and failed to refund the money. The investigation is ongoing.

Aug. 27

At 9:08 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital regarding the report of a possible assault with a deadly weapon. An investigation revealed the victim was walking when he was approached by four suspects who exited a vehicle. Two of the suspects attacked him. One of the suspects used a knife to cut his left forearm. The victim managed to escape and stated that he was not desirous of prosecution.

Aug. 28

At 1:29 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Huntington Drive and First Avenue regarding the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The suspect, known to the victim, approached her and made advances which she refused. The suspect flowed the victim and held her bike to keep her from leaving. The victim released her bike in fear for her safety and the suspect fled the scene on her bike. The 25-yearold male was larrested.

Aug. 29

At 12:10 a.m., an officer responded to the area of First Avenue and Bonita Street regarding a suspicious person seen looking into businesses. The officer located two subjects inside a vehicle. An investigation revealed the driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was also found to be in possession of a crowbar, stolen property, and drug paraphernalia. The 26-year-old male from Rosemead was arrested.

At 7:51 p.m., an officer responded to El Pollo Loco, 1 W. Duarte Road, regarding a battery that had just occurred. The victim stated he met with business associates at the location and they had a disagreement over money. The victim was claimed that he was hit with sticks by six to eight people. The investigation is ongoing.

Aug. 20

At 2:21 p.m., a hit and run traffic collision was reported in the 600 block of West Huntington. The victim confronted a male suspect, in a vehicle, that had previously defrauded him. When confronted, the suspect collided into the victim's vehicle in an attempt to escape. He then drove away without exchanging information for the collision. At 2:40 p.m., a caller reported her vehicle had been burglarized while she was shopping inside a hardware store in the 1600 block of South Mountain. Officers arrived and discovered that another customer's vehicle had also been rummaged through while the owner was shopping. Several personal items were taken. This investigation is continuing.

At 9:41 p.m., the manager of a moving truck center called police to report seeing a truck she had reported stolen earlier in the week. The truck was currently parked at a hotel in the 700 block of West Huntington. Officers responded and located the truck parked in a stall. The vehicle was recovered and removed from the stolen vehicle system. This investigation is continuing.

Aug. 21

At 1:43 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of South Mayflower reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle sometime during the night and took her purse. Officers arrived and conducted an investigation. This investigation is continuing.

At 1:53 p.m., a resident in the 500 block of West Duarte reported a male suspect took an Amazon package from his neighbor's porch, then fled the area with it. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the suspect. They found the empty Amazon box nearby. This investigation is continuing.

Aug. 22

At 3:49 p.m., a caller requested a welfare check on a male subject lying on the sidewalk near the intersection of Myrtle and Central. Officers arrived and recognized the subject from previous encounters. After speaking with him, they determined he did not need medical assistance, but was unable to care for himself due to heavy intoxication. He was arrested.

At 9:20 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of North Encinitas reported that a package had been stolen off his porch. Officers arrived and were able to view surveillance footage of the suspect. The subject was male, in his early 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweat pants. As the officer was conducting his theft investigation, he learned that packages were stolen from two other homes in the same block. This investigation is continuing.

Aug. 23

At 2:53 a.m., a robbery incident was reported in the 700 block of West Lemon. The victim met the suspect on a dating website and they agreed to meet at the location. Before leaving, the suspect claimed he could not find his cell phone. The victim attempted to call the suspect’s cell phone to locate it. The suspect then punched the victim in the face, stole the victim’s cell phone and fled the location. Officers arrived and conducted an investigation, which is continuing.

At 9:29 a.m., a possible domestic violence incident was reported in the 200 block of West Pomona. Officers arrived and located a male and female subject at the Station Square platform. It was determined the female subject had struck the male subject with a broom handle. The female was arrested for domestic violence.

At 11:11 a.m., the Monrovia Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a hotel in the 700 block of West Huntington. Monrovia police were requested after an employee reported she witnessed a female subject pull the fire alarm without a fire being present. Officers arrived and retrieved surveillance footage of the suspect. This investigation is continuing.

At 9:34 p.m., two vehicles struck each other at the intersection of Alta Vista and Chestnut. Officers arrived and found one of the parties was complaining of pain. Paramedics from the Monrovia Fire Department were requested, but the subject refused any treatment.

Aug. 24

At 5:06 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of East Cypress regarding the report of a stolen vehicle. The owner parked his vehicle in front of his residence at approximately 9 p.m. the night before. He returned to the area at 5 a.m. the next morning and saw his vehicle was no longer there. Officers conducted an investigation and entered the vehicle into the stolen vehicle system.

At 10:51 a.m., a trash service truck was traveling in the 800 block of West Walnut, when a vehicle backed out of a private driveway and collided into it. Officers arrived and conducted an investigation. The driver of the vehicle backing up complained of pain. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

At 1:47 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 600 block of West Huntington. Employees reported that a male subject walked into the location and took two iPhones and two Apple Watches, then left the location on foot. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. This investigation is continuing.

At 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Shamrock and Huntington regarding a traffic collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle. Officers arrived and found the motorcycle under a pickup truck. An investigation was conducted, and it was determined that the motorcyclist had run a red light and hit the front of a separate vehicle. The rider was thrown from the bike, and the bike slid on the roadway and struck the truck, which was driving in the opposite direction. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Aug. 25

At 9:21 p.m., a subject near the intersection of Myrtle and Duarte approached a Foothill Transit bus and hit it with his fists. He caused some damage to the bus and fled the area. Officers arrived and checked the area but did not locate the suspect.

Aug. 26

At 5:54 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Duarte regarding a possible break-in. Employees at the location had arrived in the morning and noticed the business was not secure.
