Weekend Closure of NB I-405/SB I-110 Connector

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced a 60-hour weekend closure of northbound Interstate 405 (I-405) to southbound Interstate 110 (I-110) connector for a widening project. Crew will fully close the northbound I-405 to southbound I-110 connector on Friday June 26 at 7 p.m. until Monday, June 29 at 6 a.m. This $50 million project will widen the existing northbound I-405/ southbound I-110 connector and add a new lane between the on and off-ramp from the I-405/I-110 interchange to Del Amo Boulevard. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.

MPFD: Celebrate the 4th of July Safely, Legally and Responsibly

Due to the coronavirus emergency, the city has canceled the annual 4th of July celebration event and fireworks display. The city has also made the decision to prohibit the sales of Safe and Sane fireworks within the city for the 2020 season. Although fireworks will not be available for sale in Monterey Park, residents are still allowed to utilize Safe and Sane fireworks on July 4 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Firework use outside of July 4 from 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. is illegal.

Burbank Small Business Assistance Program – Application Period

If you are a small business impacted by COVID 19, you can apply for a Burbank Small Business Assistance loan between $5,000 and $10,000. Eligible businesses include selfemployed contractors, entrepreneurs, gig workers, or businesses with less than 20 employees. The application period will begin on Monday, June 29, 2020, starting at 8 a.m. and end on Friday, July 10, 2020 5 p.m. Due to limited funding, the city will only accept 100 applications by or before the application period end date, whichever comes first. All applications must be submitted online at: www.burbank.cceda.com by clicking the Small Business Assistance Banner that will appear on the website at 8 a.m. on June 29. Loans will be provided to eligible small businesses on a first-come, first served basis. For other general questions or assistance, call the Application Call Center at (818) 238-5180, Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

City Reminds Residents That All Fireworks Are Illegal in Glendale

Fire danger and injuries from fireworks still exist even in the midst of a pandemic crisis. It is important to remember that the City of Glendale has a zero tolerance policy for all fireworks. All personal fireworks, including “safe and sane” varieties are illegal in the city. The municipal code allows for the prosecution of fireworks-related offenses. Violators are subject to arrest, which could include serving up to six months in jail with fines up to $1,000.

Announces Ad Campaign Promoting Free COVID-19 Testing

Orange County residents can go to ochealthinfo.com/covidtest or call the HCA’s Health Referral Line at 1(800) 564-8448 to make an appointment at a nearby test site. Next day or, in some cases, same day appointments are available. In Orange County, testing priority is given to people with symptoms as well as asymptomatic individuals who are health care workers, first responders, social service employees, or those who are a may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. The next elements of the testing campaign — marketing and advertising elements launching this month and in July — include print, radio, cable TV, digital outdoor boards, check cashing sleeves, digital and social media in three languages – English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Plan for Angel Stadium Site

A proposed 30-year master plan for the 153 acres including Angel Stadium of Anaheim includes ballpark neighborhoods, parks and open spaces, dining, shopping, hotels and workplaces. The plan also calls for renovation of the current Angel Stadium of Anaheim or the building of a new 45,000-seat stadium. Riverside County to Begin Coronavirus Antibody Testing as Part of Prevalence Study

About 3,500 randomly selected county residents will be asked if they are interested in taking part in the study, which could determine whether they have been exposed and developed COVID-19 antibodies. The study will help determine the Riverside County prevalence of COVID-19, which will be used to inform planning efforts. Potential participants will be contacted by telephone or email starting sometime this week. Residents cannot volunteer for the study, in part, because health officials want a more representative sampling of the community.

City to Phase in Enforcement of Parking Regulations

To ease the reinstatement of street sweeping practices, warnings will be issued until parking citations resume on July 1, 2020. Other violations will also be phased into compliance, including: metered parking, posted time limits, and colored curb zones. Relaxed enforcement will continue for the following: expired vehicle registration, abandoned vehicles, commercial vehicles in residential areas.

Regulations for Public Attendance and Comment During COVID-19 Have Been Updated

The meeting chambers will be open to the public during meetings. Seating will be arranged to provide for social distancing and face masks should be worn. If capacity in the meeting chambers is reached with social distancing measures in place, the city will have an overflow area set up in the Multi-Purpose Room where members of the public can view and listen to the meeting via a video screen. For any person wishing to submit comments orally, the City will also either establish a process to admit additional persons into the meeting chambers for this purpose or you will be allowed to comment via remote teleconferencing in the Multi-Purpose Room. Members of the public can still observe the meeting via live-streaming options. Community members who desire to submit a written general public comment or a written comment on a specific agenda item can submit them via the following e-mail: WrittenPublicComments@CoronaCA.gov.

New Guidelines for Youth Sports, Weddings and Interacting with Family and Friends

Currently, the County is in Phase 1, which allows youths to engage in conditioning, drills and exercise activities while practicing social distancing. When Phase 2 of youth sports begins, teams will be able to practice and play games without an audience. Phase 3 would allow games with an audience. Wedding ceremonies held in secular venues now join houses of worship to allow 25% of capacity or 100 people in attendance, whichever is less. There is not an attendance cap for outdoor weddings. Venues that hold ceremonies outdoors are only limited by the ability to keep people not of the same household six feet or more apart. Wedding ceremonies are considered cultural ceremonies, but wedding receptions and parties are still not permitted. Walmart Associates and Latino Restaurant Association Provide Hot Meals and Care Packages for Health Care Workers

On Tuesday, Inland Empire Walmart associates and the Latino Restaurant Association (LRA) hosted a hot meal giveaway for frontline hospital workers at San Bernardino Medical Center. Walmart store associates in San Bernardino and Highland teamed up with the LRA to help feed health care workers during this health crisis as part of LRA’s extended Cinco de Impact campaign. Walmart associates and the LRA assembled and provided 350 hot meals and thank you care packages. The care packages included items that would be helpful during a long shift - toiletries and snacks - for hospital health care workers at San Bernardino Medical Center.

Ontario International Airport Adds PPE Kiosks in Passenger Terminals

In its ongoing effort to protect customers, visitors and employees from potential coronavirus infection, while adding a new level of convenience during what can be a particularly stressful time for passengers, Ontario International Airport (ONT) is making personal protective equipment available to those who travel through and visit the Southern California airport. Face covers, disposable gloves, disinfectant wipes and alcohol-based hand sanitizer are available in self-service commercial kiosks located in both of ONT’s passenger terminals.
