Rosemead City Council Approves Urgency Ordinance Prohibiting Evictions Related to COVID-19 Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order that authorizes local governments to halt evictions for renters and homeowners, slows foreclosures, and protects against utility shutoffs for Californians affected by COVID-19. Subsequently, on March 24, 2020, the City of Rosemead City Council approved Urgency Ordinance No. 993, temporarily prohibiting the evictions of residential and commercial evictions of tenants arising from income loss or substantial medical expenses related to the COVID-19 Pandemic. SoCalGas Warns Customers About the Rise of Utility Scams Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) today reminded customers to be on alert for potential scams targeting utility customers during the COVID-19 outbreak. One common scam involves telling customers they must pay their gas bill immediately or their natural gas service will be disconnected. SoCalGas does not call customers seeking payment. Additionally, on March 13, the utility announced it had suspended service disconnections for customers who are struggling to pay their bills until further notice. nother Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputy has died of complications from COVID19, authorities said Friday. The first death was Thursday when Deputy Terrell Young, a 15-year-veteran of the department, became the first member of the agency to die of the respiratory illness, according to the Sheriff’s Department. A Twitter feed announced Wednesday that the Riverside SO lost one of its 15-year deputies. “We are saddened to announce the passing of one of our own RSO family

members, Deputy Terrell Young. Terrell Young served this department for 15 yrs & is the 1st member to succumb to the COVID-19 virus. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this difficult time. https://t.co/bKYGI3KIXP” On Friday, Deputy David Werksman, a 22-year veteran of the department beacme the second deputy at the agency to succumb to the respiratory illness Thursday after 54-year-old Young. "It is hard to imagine that ago, our Department was in pain due to the COVID-19 death of Deputy Terrell Young. Our members are heartbroken and

hurting," the Riverside Sheriff’s association's president Bill Young said in a statement. Werksman worked at the Robert Presley Detention Center, the sheriff's Jurupa Valley and Lake Elsinore stations, and was most recently assigned to Sheriff's Administration. The deputy also worked on the Hazardous Device Team and was an FBI certified public safety bomb technician, a hazardous materials team specialist, and a nuclear and radiological first responder, authorities said.

COVID-19 Outbreak In Yucaipa Nursing Facility Twelve elderly residents of a nursing facility in Yucaipa tested positive for COVID-19 today and a resident of a second nursing facility in Mentone is presenting symptoms of the disease. County Public Health professionals are working closely with both facilities to expedite the immediate testing of all residents and employees of both facilities.
