VETERANS DAY AT THE ARCADIA VIETNAM WAR MEMORIAL Staff WRITER editorial@beaconmedianews.com
S
unday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. From noon to 2 p.m. veterans and their families are invited to stop by and visit the Arcadia Vietnam War Memorial at the north end of the Arcadia County Park. Gene Glasco, the memorial’s founder will be there to present the Secretary of Defense approved Vietnam Veteran lapel pin to any veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of location. All U.S. military veterans of this era are eligible to receive one lapel pin for their service. If you haven’t already visited the Arcadia Vietnam War Monument this weekend would be a good time to do so. The monument was built in honor of 14 Arcadia men that were casualties of the war in Vietnam. However, it stands in tribute to all service members - its plaques contain the names of veterans that served in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan. Visiting the Arcadia Vietnam War Memorial
