n Friday, during Arcadia Rotary’s weekly luncheon, a rather unique honor was bestowed upon an equally rare Arcadia woman for her numerous and generous contributions to the city. Mary E. Hansen was presented with the Paul Harris Fellow award for service “above and beyond” according to Arcadia Rotary President Pat Dolphin. The presentation of the Paul Harris Fellow recognition is the Rotary Foundation’s way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for the founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905. Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation. Therefore, last Friday, Arcadia Rotarians honored Mary Hansen. Hansen was instrumental in donating funds needed to complete

Arcadia City Council’s Oct. 2 meeting was adjourned Tuesday night in honor of Cherry Liu, 50, who was murdered by her estranged husband Aug. 1, who then turned the gun on himself in the murder-suicide.
