he “Zero Tolerance” immigration policy set in place by the Trump Administration back on April 6 has caused protests across the nation. The policy enforces a 100 percent prosecution rate for all those who enter the United States illegally. As a result of enforcing this policy many families are being separated.

President Trump signed an executive order reversing a portion of the policy, in which it addresses that families be reunited. However, the protests continue nationwide.

Families Belong Together is an ad hoc protest group which was organized at Pasadena City College by student activist Hilda Coleman. On Saturday, June 30, the Families Belong Together march was held in response to the “Zero Tolerance” immigration policy aftermath.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson released a statement Friday on the Trump administration’s policy of separating families seeking asylum from human rights abuses, violence, and crime.

“I am saddened and angered by the treatment of families and young children at our southern border,” said Torlakson.

“Families who come to the United States seeking economic security, new opportunities, and physical safety face great adversity and danger on their journeys.

They should be greeted

with understanding and compassion.

Instead, immigration officials have separated families with little hope of reunification, prosecuted asylumseekers, and detained prospective immigrants indefinitely.”

“This is cruel, inhumane, and unacceptable, and has the potential to cause irreparable harm to the children victimized by these actions. Children could face long-lasting anxiety, depression, and other forms of mental illness that could harm their performance at school and cause problems throughout their lives.”

Pasadena Pharmacists Indicted in Million Dollar Fraudulent Bills Case In another massive law enforcement action targeting health care fraud, federal authorities announced recently criminal cases naming a total of 33 defendants – including doctors, pharmacists and an attorney – who have been charged in a wide-range of schemes that collectively attempted to bilk public and private insurance programs out of more than $660 million.

The defendants charged locally are among hundreds of people charged across the United States in cases that cumulatively allege approximately $2 billion in false billings. The nationwide sweep includes charges against 165 doctors, nurses and other licensed medical

professionals who allegedly participated in health care fraud schemes.

The department of Justice recently issued a lengthy press release detailing numerous arrests of interest as well as two local pharmacists.

Armen Pogossian, 69, of Pasadena, the owner of L.A. Nova Pharmacy, was indicted for his role in the submission of $2.9 million in claims to Medicare Part D sponsors for prescription drugs that were never dispensed to Medicare beneficiaries; indeed, they were never even ordered from a wholesaler. The fivecount indictment alleges that Pogossian attempted to conceal the fraudulent claims from auditors through the use of fake invoices that purport-

ed to show the drugs had been obtained from wholesalers and thus were in the pharmacy’s inventory. This case is being investigated by the FBI and HHS-OIG and is being prosecuted by Department of Justice Trial Attorney Alexis Gregorian.

Tamar Tatarian, 37, of Pasadena, the owner of Akhtamar Pharmacy, was named in a three-count indictment that alleges she participated in a scheme that submitted $1.3 million in claims to Medicare Part D sponsors for prescription drugs that were never ordered from wholesalers.

hese days, going eco-friendly is the new trend. But why stop at recycling and reducing when you can reuse your own organic waste right in your backyard? That’s where composting comes in.

Composting is a natural process in which organic waste such as stems and vegetable scraps are recycled into a rich, high-nutrient soil mixture. The soil is so potent in aiding plant growth that farmers have actually nicknamed it “Black Gold.” Because it releases water and acts as a natural mulch, compost not only saves water but also reduces your trash bill. But most importantly, composting allows you to cut down on the amount of food you send to the landfills and therefore minimizes your carbon footprint.

You might be wondering: “Do I actually throw out that much food?” Most people don’t consider food waste a pressing issue in environmental conservation, but the United States actually leads the world in food waste. In fact, The Guardian estimates that roughly 50 percent of all produce in America is thrown away, contributing to the 1.6 billion tons (worth $1 trillion) of produce

wasted globally. This means that “one-third of the food produced in the world for human consumption approximately 1.3 billion tons - gets lost or wasted” (FAO). To make matters worse, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that of the 38 million tons of food waste generated in 2014, only 5.1 percent was diverted from landfills for composting, resulting in organic waste becoming the single largest occupant in U.S. landfills. All in all, agencies around the world agree on one thing: excessive food waste has to stop.

Now, how exactly does one go about setting up a compost station? There are a few things to consider before you begin: 1. Location Because of the warm, sunny climate in Southern California, it’s best to select a spot with ample shade to avoid excessive evaporation. Your compost location should also be close to a water source, have contact with soil, and be near your garden to minimize carrying distance. However, make sure the pile is away from wooden fences - those decomposers will happily eat away at those too!

2. Bin or Pile?

If you don’t mind the smell or your compost will be far away, a pile would be a suitable choice. Make sure

to cover the pile (wire, wood, tarp, etc.) to keep away any scavengers or pets. However, some people prefer the neatness and convenience of closed bins, which are often sold by individual cities ($56 bins in Pasadena, $40 bins and $65 worm bins in Monrovia, $35 bins and $65 worm bins in Arcadia).

3. Organic Contents Compost can be made up of almost anything you use in the kitchen like fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea leaves, shells (egg, seafood, nut), and paper napkins. It can also have some of your gardening scraps like lawn clippings, twigs and branches, flowers, and weeds. You can also toss newspapers and shredded paper in as well!

Just make sure to avoid adding dairy or animal products (including bones), oils, fats, diseased plants, and pet waste in your pile.

The most important aspect of your organic contents is maintaining a balance between the nitrogen-based “green” waste like vegetables and the carbon-based “brown” waste like garden trimmings.

ARCADIA June 24: Shortly before 1:28 a.m., officers responded to the area of Baldwin Avenue and the 210 Freeway regarding a group of reckless drivers. The officer conducted an enforcement stop on one of the vehicles for speeding.

The 20-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

June 25: Just after 5:44 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of West Floral Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and stole a hospital badge, car charger, lunch box and various pieces of paperwork.

No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

June 26: At about 5:36 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a counterfeit report. The officer determined the suspect passed $200 in fraudulent bills on June 11th. The suspect, a 24-year-old female from Long Beach is outstanding at the time of this report.

June 28: Around 8:35 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of Workman Avenue regarding an audible alarm activation.

An investigation revealed an unknown suspect shattered a rear glass door and fled once the alarm activated.

No loss was reported and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

June 29: At about 12:19 p.m., an officer conducted a vehicle check in the 1100 block of Colorado Boulevard. Upon contacting the driver of the parked vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. The officer located numerous empty cans of alcohol inside of the vehicle and subsequently arrested the 37-year-old male from Covina for Drunk In Public.

He was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

June 30:

June 27: Shortly after 9:00 a.m., an officer responded to the Hampton Inn Hotel, 311 East Huntington Drive, regarding a theft report. Surveil-

The street was checked where the vehicle had been parked and broken glass was found on the ground. The incident was captured on video footage.

The investigation is continuing.

June 22 At 7:04 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of South Fifth Avenue. The victim came out to his vehicle in the morning and discovered that the window he’d left slightly ajar was now completely broken and his wallet had been stolen out of the glove compartment.

The investigation is continuing.

June 23 At 12:16 a.m., an officer was conducting extra patrol at Recreation Park in

June 25 At 12:57 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of East Lime Avenue regarding a subject pounding on the back door.

Officers arrived and contacted a subject who was recently served with a restraining order prohibiting him from being at the location. He was arrested for violation of the restraining order.

At 5:46 p.m., a traffic collision was reported at Eighth Avenue and Duarte Road. A bicyclist was traveling in the opposite direction of vehicle traffic and was hit by a vehicle traveling at a slow speed.

The bicyclist suffered minor injuries.

June 26 At 5:34 a.m., dispatch received a call reporting that a window to a business in the 600 block of South Myrtle Avenue had been smashed. Officers arrived and cleared the business.

No suspects were located inside, but the business had been burglarized. The investigation is continuing.

June 27 At 6:13 a.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 600 block of West Foothill Boulevard. The victim called and reported multiple vehicles had been egged and there was video surveillance footage of the incident. Officers responded and determined that the vandalism stemmed from a neighbor dispute. The investigation is continuing.

June 28 At 5:04 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of North Myrtle Avenue. The victim parked his vehicle at his residence in the evening.

When returning to his vehicle early the next morning, his vehicle was gone.

The vehicle is a white, 2003 GMC passenger van. The investigation is continuing.

SIERRA MADRE June 25 At about 8:30PM, officers responded to a call of a burglary that had oc-

curred at a residence in the 600 block of Elm St. The suspect(s) entered the residence through a window and ransacked the home and stole unknown item(s).

June 26, Officers responded to the 00 block of E. Mira Monte Ave. in regards to a theft investigation. The resident stated that he left his garage door open overnight. The resident noticed a 3 gallon air compressor and a mountain bike were missing from the garage.

June 28 A victim of a scam came to the Sierra Madre Police Department lobby to report she went on a puppy web site and purchased gift cards worth $1,500.00. The victim wired $620.00 in a money gram to the address provided by the subject. The reporting party also took photographs of the back of the gift cards with code exposed and sent a text to the subject. The reporting party later discovered that it was a scam.

June 29 A traffic stop of a vehicle at about 3:42PM occurred on Santa Anita Cyn Rd. where the driver of the vehicle was found to be driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and later transported to the Pasadena Jail where he was later released on a citation.

How To Treat Any Health Issue

Alright my friend, it’s time for some real talk. You see, I get patients coming to see me for a wide variety of health problems, high blood sugar, feeling tired all the time, no sex drive, you name it, I’ve treated it.

Want to know a secret that your doctor won’t tell you? Treating your symptoms is a band-aid approach to medicine. Symptoms are a roadmap to the real issue, not the issue itself.

Now, because I’m a functional medicine specialist, I believe the correct way to solve any health problem is to follow the 3 Rs of functional medicine. Don’t know what those are? No problem. I’ve got you covered.

We’re going to go over them together right now.

Step 1: Remove No surprises here - the first step to healing is to remove the trigger that is causing the issue. What’s the point of getting rid of your symptoms if the real cause is just going to keep them coming back over and over again until something more serious happens?

To remove the trigger, you need to be able to pinpoint what the source of the problem is and then stop the specific items that are causing the issue.

Let me give you a popular example for diabetes. Diabetes can be reversed by simply changing your habits. So, if you are diabetic, instead of giving you insulin shots, I

would remove the foods that trigger your high blood sugar. Seems easy, right?

Of course, this doesn’t mean just food is a trigger. There are three primary sources of triggers - mental, environmental and physical. As you would go through the removal process for each of these three, you would be working to identify the triggers and remove them so your body can start to heal.

Ironically, this is where most medicine stops.

They try to remove the triggers, but they don’t cover the other 2 steps, which is why the results don’t last very long.

Because you just can’t remove something.

You have to replace it with something better - which is why step 2 of functional medicine is replace.

Step 2: Replace This is my favorite step of the process. Once we remove the bad stuff, we get to replace it with good things!

Think of it like this. If you were to discover that you had mold growing on the underside of your carpet, you’d quickly remove the entire carpet to get rid of the mold. But would you leave your floor bare? Or would you replace it with new, non-moldy carpet or wood floors?

It’s the same here. Once we get rid of the trigger, we need to fill in the empty gaps with strong elements your body can use to heal and grow stronger.

You need to give your body the nutrients it needs (and most likely is desperately missing). As we introduce nutrients back into the body, you’ll start to feel better and better.

You’ll start noticing that you have more energy, your sex drive will improve, and you’ll start losing weight without starving yourself.

Now, I know what you are thinking, “How does this work with mental health?” Great question! If you remove your negative self-talk, but don’t replace it with positive self-talk, you’ll just go back to the negative self-talk.

You need to fill in the gaps to keep improving your life - the main reason why the replacing step is one of the most critical pieces to achieving a healthy life.

If you strongly crave any thing that is bad for you, and suddenly try to go cold turkey without it, you aren’t doing your body any favors. That’s why, to go back to the diabet-

ic example, once we remove the unhealthy food, we replace it with delicous, healthy food that diminishes the desire for those unhealthy foods that trigger the disease.

However, you can’t just stop there because you body needs to change to adjust. Which is why rebalancing is so important. As your body starts to feel the relief from those triggers, you’ll need to rebalance in order to achieve superior health.

Step 3: Rebalance Straight talk time, no one is going to be perfect right out of the gate. It takes time to see change! Just continue to believe that you can see the difference you want to see in your life.

And, of course, you need to add in proper exercise and sleep back into your life to give your body time to heal.

The pressure led President Trump to sign an Executive Order on June 20, in which Section 1 of the order titled “Affording Congress an Opportunity to Address Family Separation” states, “It is unfortunate that Congress’s failure to act and court orders have put the Administration

in the position of separating alien families to effectively enforce the law.’” However, some would argue that the executive order does not immediately reunite families.

Judy Felton, a South Pasadena resident who attended the march feels that the executive order is not enough because it does not address reuniting families prior to when the Order was set in place last week. The majority of protestors feel that the executive order does not specify a plan on when and how to bring families together, and the only solution to the problem is to terminate the “Zero Tolerance” policy. In Tornillo, Texas a tent city facility has been built to house the hundreds of children being detained. Many protestors claim that the environments where immigrant children are being held look like camps.

Deputy District Attorney Ryan Erlich said the felony complaint includes allegations that Fox was convicted in 2016 of first-degree residential burglary.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday, and is due back in court on Aug. 14 in Department J of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch. Case GA103792 was filed on June 25.

On Oct. 6, 2016, Fox allegedly stole a Tesla Model S 85D and later crashed into motorcyclist Oscar Chavez, 60, the prosecutor said. The

victim died at the scene and the defendant reportedly fled and remained at large until his arrest on June 21, the prosecutor added.

Fox faces more than 36 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged.

Bail is set at more than $2.1 million.

The case remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department.

White Horse Lounge: A Louisiana Haven from the Crazy

hen a 100-yearold bar came on the Pasadena market in 2015, future White Horse Lounge owner Yan Agaev knew it was meant to be his.

“I walked into the restaurant and thought, ‘Why is nothing here? It’s gorgeous!’” said Agaev. In May of that year, White Horse Lounge opened its doors, boasting solid pub fare and an exceptional craft cocktail program to wash it down with. But it wasn’t until Agaev met Louisiana-born chef Josh Thomas, aka Big Josh, that White Horse found its stride.

“Josh learned Louisiana cuisine from his grandmother, who was also a chef.

We started talking about a culinary direction and he said, ‘Let’s bring in the Louisiana and Creole,’” explained Agaev.

The new food direction made sense.

“Cocktails are American in origin - the first cocktail bars, the first bitters all came out of Louisiana,” he said. “We

already had cocktails rooted in Louisiana classics - so it was a marriage waiting to happen.”

Agaev himself is no stranger to the kitchen; bussing tables as a New Jersey

teen and bartending his way west. He dabbled in other fields for a while, but the lure of launching a custom cocktail program ultimately brought him back to the bar.

“A good program is defined by what your standards are: the difference between concentrated and canned, fresh versus full of preservatives,” he said. “The

majority of bars can get away with boring cocktails, but we make our own custom syrups, use six to seven ingredients per drink - we care about the integrity.”

The dishes stand up well to the drinks, with luminaries like the boudin balls (a Louisiana classic) an absolute must try. Married with a stellar staff and that glittery time-traveling bar, the lounge becomes something of a destination.

“If you look at White Horse from the outside, it looks so fancy you might second-guess walking in,” said Agaev. “But this place is about inclusion a place to have a great meal, drinks and conversation. It’s not a stuffy, fine dining place.

We have fun here.”

Having fun also means keeping customers’ palates pleased and curiosity piqued a feat for any team.

“Inspiration comes from respecting the customer.

There’s shortcuts in this business, but you have to have integrity with what you put in people’s bodies,” said Agaev.

Combating the status quo is also a challenge.

“You gotta have dishes

that work for all allergens and palates. With drinks, we push ourselves with tableside cocktails, smoked cocktails, cocktails that you light on fire,” he said. “We’re always testing ourselves to invent new experiences.”

Other hurdles, like the rising cost of goods and minimum wage, demand a nimble approach to growth.

Agaev works to maneuver these waters without cutting corners - because (in his words) White Horse is here to stay.

“We’re here to provide an escape from the craziness in your life; to create a haven where you can put your phone away for a second and connect with people,” he said. “That’s what hospitality is all about.”

We think Louisiana would agree.

Monrovia Partners With Oak Crest Institute of Science to Create the Junior Research Summer Academy School is out for the summer but learning doesn’t have to be put on hold. Through a partnership between the City of Monrovia and Oak Crest Institute of Science, teens in grades eight–10 have the opportunity to participate in the first-ever Junior Researcher Science Academy. Created as part of the City’s new focus on educational programming for youth and hosted by Oak Crest, this academy introduces participants to a variety of scientific fields through hands-on experiments with real research scientists. In this two-week academy, students will be exposed to biology, chemistry, physics, and computer science, participate in group activities, mindstimulating challenges, and most important of all, fun.

Through the academy, students will get to visit a number of exciting places.

At the Monrovia Fire Department’s Fire Station 102, students can participate in the Fire Fighter Challenge; learning about the fire science behind fighting fires and keeping

a hike in Monrovia Canyon Park, an introduction to 3D printing at the Monrovia Public Library, and much more.

love a compact getaway where everything is within walking distance and I don’t have to worry about driving for dining, shopping, sightseeing, or activities.

This is what I loved about my recent visit to Ventura Harbor Village, where restaurants, shops, and beach-front adventures are located in one charming spot, within a casual stroll of a great hotel.

My excursion to Ventura began at the Four Points by Sheraton Ventura Harbor Resort, where a friend and I checked into a comfortable second floor room overlooking a large lawn with the hotel jacuzzi sitting in the middle of it. The room was highlighted by two Sheraton Four Comfort queen beds, a large flat screen TV, office desk area with free high-speed internet, and a balcony with a table and

always idolized the movie stars and models. It wasn’t the lifestyle or the fame that caught my eye, but the way that they were able to look amazing all year round.

So I set out to get toned.

I tried many tactics. I went down a bodybuilding path where I scarfed down protein shakes and creatine like I was on route to becoming the next Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I had burned through roughly 10 pounds of fat in just 4 weeks’ time.

To say that I was happy with my results would have been an understatement.

However, I’m a lazy person.

I was never able to adjust to the annoying calorie counting and use of the treadmill as my way to maintain a caloric deficit.

This is where I realized that I didn’t really care that much about looking like Zac Efron, out of “Baywatch,” and that I just wanted a healthy, functioning body.

I started to transition my fitness and nutrition towards a wellness-based approach.

I started: -Cutting out added sugars.

-Adding more fiber into my diet.

-Eating more assorted fruits and vegetables.

-Focusing meals around leaner proteins.

Plus so much more that

I’m going to share in detail below.

The truth behind what it means to “get toned” “I just want to get a little more toned” - said just about everyone who ever stepped foot in a gym.

I know that phrase is something that annoys a lot of personal trainers, because toned isn’t an actual welldefined term in exercise science.

What it truly means to “get toned” is to reduce body fat and increase lean muscle tissue.

ith summer in full swing, I get a lot of questions about skin health. You see, most people seem to think that just wearing sunscreen is enough to protect and preserve their skin from the effects of harmful UV rays. I see so many people suffering from the effects of poor skin care that could easily be avoided by simply following a few guidelines.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is with how people apply sunscreen. Most people put on sunscreen right before they go out in the sun. This doesn’t give your skin enough time to become fully protected, so there are a good 20 to 30 minutes where your skin is exposed to those harmful rays.

What you should do instead is put on sunscreen 30 minutes before you go out into the sun. Also, be sure that it is at least SPF 30 (although SPF 70 is better if you are going to be near sand or water). Choose

a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB radiation.

Other sunscreens will prevent sunburn but not protect against skin cancer.

Are you feeling happy, or is something missing?

If you’ve been thinking of making a change, this could be the perfect time. But, finding a job can take months.

If you want to make a change, it’s important to get started before the winter holidays begin to approach.

Often, one of the sources of job frustration can be a lack of control. Whether you’re not doing the kind of work you enjoy, don’t like your boss, or are underpaid, you may feel helpless. It’s this helpless feeling that can really impact you each day as you go in. It can make your

day seem longer, and tasks seem harder.

Finding career independence starts with identifying what is within your radius of control. What can you do today that will help you gain more freedom tomorrow?

First, I recommend keeping your resume up to date at all times. You’ll be prepared, and you won’t forget important details later.

On top of that, keep your LinkedIn current and connect to your colleagues. You never know when things could change.

If you’re not using your favorite skills at work, look for ways to keep your expertise up to date. Consider taking on small consulting projects, or volunteer at a nonprofit.

You may even want to take a class or two to keep any certifications current.

If you’d like to acquire a new skill, the same advice applies. Enroll in a class.

There are many options at local colleges, and online.

If you don’t have an opportunity to try your new skill at work, look for a way to volunteer your time – either on a nonprofit project or at a part-time internship.

Nurture your network.

Take the time to attend networking events. Get lunch and coffee with coworkers from previous jobs. Stay connected.

Reevaluate your priorities.

Often, a source of unhappiness can be tied to a shifting of what’s important to you.

Early in your career, you may have been willing to work for hours on end just to make the most money possible. As you’ve grown older, financial stability may be less important. You may now be looking for work-life balance, but are still saddled with a 60-hour per week job.

The End Of Two Eras At Pasadena High School

J

ett Del Mundo of Pasadena girls’ basketball and Jose Montes of Pasadena baseball have both stepped down from their respective head coaching positions.

The announcement was made last week by athletic director Tony Brook, who also said the process to fill those positions is already underway.

Del Mundo spent three years at Pasadena as he helped spark a revival after the Bulldogs went 5-20 overall and 3-11 in league during the 2014-15 season. He replaced then-Head Coach David Ng and produced better results with each passing season.

Despite the Bulldogs

only going 10-18 overall in his debut season, Del Mundo was able to quickly turn the program around. He led the team to a CIF-SS semifinal appearance in 2017 (losing to Valley Christian 67-53) and a CIF-SS second-round appearance in 2018 (losing to Sunny Hills 64-60).

The Bulldogs also qualified for the CIF State Championships in 2017 but lost to Scripps Ranch in the opening round. Del Mundo finished his tenure with a 47-41 record.

Jose Montes’ time at Pasadena as the head coach for the baseball team played out very similarly to Del Mundo’s. Montes was also at the helm for three years

and even though he and the Bulldogs had a losing record in his first season, they went on to improve in the next two.

Montes succeeded Michael Parisi after the 2015 season, when Pasadena went 17-11 overall. His best season was in 2018 as he led the team to a 15-12 overall record.

However, the Bulldogs did not enjoy much success in Pacific League action; finishing in fifth place with a 6-8 record.

Ironically, the longest win streak the baseball team went on this season lasted six games during league play.

The streak included wins over Burroughs, Hoover, Glendale, and Burbank. Montes record as Pasadena’s head coach was 38-42.

Arcadia’s Dominick Tello Grabs Spot on All-CIF Squad In the game against Etiwanda, Tello went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Apaches earned the 6-2 victory over the Eagles. Tello posted the same exact numbers in the contest against Pasadena as the Apaches downed the Bulldogs 8-0.

Unfortunately for Tello and the rest of the Apaches, their magical season was cut short after Long Beach Wilson defeated them in the second round of the CIF-SS playoffs.

Another notable performance came against South Pasadena in April when he dealt eight strikeouts to help

In the playoffs, Delgado was just as masterful, getting the win in the opening round against Pacifica. He also played a big part in both of Monrovia’s comeback wins against Northview and Hemet that sent the team to the CIF-SS championship.

Arcadia baseball’s stalwart infielder Dominick Tello was named to the Division 3 All-CIF Southern Section Baseball Team.

The junior was an integral part in the Apaches’ lineup as he is the only Pacific League representative on the 15-man roster.

His stellar play in the infield and reliable bat helped lead Arcadia to its best start in program history with 21 straight wins.

Monrovia baseball’s trusty ace Josh Delgado was recognized with a Division 4 All-CIF Southern Section Baseball Team honor.

The senior was lights out this season, proving to be one of the Wildcats’ go-to options in critical situations. Along with fellow pitcher Julian Gomeztrejo, the tandem terrorized opposing batters while guiding Monrovia to an impressive 23-5-1 overall record and a Rio Hondo League title.

Delgado pitched a season total of 68.2 innings while earning 10 wins under his belt with a 1.22 ERA. The two-year varsity player also tallied 58 strikeouts during his senior campaign.
