Danny Redmond is Temple City’s Real Life Santa Claus BY SHEL SEGAL
The Sierra Madre Police Department is Asking All Sierra Madre Residents to Stay Vigilant On Wednesday, Dec. 14 SMPD hosted an emergency community meeting at City Hall to address the recent rash of home and vehicle burglaries. That same evening there was another
theft from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home located in the 1900 block of Vista Avenue. When the theft occurred, the victim actually confronted the suspect, who took off
on foot. On Friday, Dec. 16 an alert Sierra Madre resident flagged down an SMPD Police Officer. The citizen was concerned about two suspicious subjects who had been

He looks Santa Claus. He even dresses like him and he can belt out a solid “ho ho ho!” But, no, he does not live at the North Pole. This Santa lives in Temple City with Mrs. Claus and loves delighting children during the holidays and at a number of community events. Danny Redmond can fool anyone into believing he is the one and only Santa Claus. Redmond, a city public safety commissioner and nurse with the County of Los Angeles, comes complete with a genuine white beard and a very real Mrs. Claus at his side, his wife Helen Redmond. “I’ve had a beard since 1980,” he said. “The last time I shaved was when I was in nursing school, and not since.” For the past six years, he has been serving as Santa Claus, first performing at parties with the Temple City High School band, and later for the city, most notably at “Lights on Temple City.” As the town’s premier Santa Claus, Danny Redmond said he puts in the proper work that is required if you really want to look like and be like St. SEE PAGE 4
High School Tutors Deliver Toys to La Primaria School’s Youngest Students Mountain View High School’s TPA (Teacher Preparation Academy) students spread Christmas cheer at La Primaria School when they delivered a toy to each kindergarten through second grade student. Smiles and laughter were abundant as the
students received a toy or game from their TPA tutor. TPA is a group of high school juniors and seniors who visit the school two to three times per week and work directly with classroom teachers to provide instructional assistance, including one-on-one tu-
toring or group help in reading, writing, and math. Mountain View School District’s partnership with TPA began over 12 years ago and has proven to be a beneficial program for the high school and younger SEE PAGE 3
