Temple City Unveils, Dedicates Veterans Memorial BY SHEL SEGAL Veterans Day has always had a special place in the hearts of those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. But now, it holds a very treasured spot for those from Temple City. More than a hundred people gathered on Friday (Nov. 11) as the City of Temple City unveiled and dedicated its new Veterans Memorial at Temple City Park. Built at a cost of $180,000, the memorial is a circular monument that prominently features the words: “We Remember. We Honor. We Celebrate.” In addition, several flags, including the U.S. and POW flags as well as those representing the five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces - line and circle the memorial’s entrance. Temple City Mayor Vince Yu said the event was “wonderful.” “Finally, the veterans are getting the memorial and recognition the way they should,” he said. “Our town has always been a great community SEE PAGE 6

El Monte, Calif. – “The Nutcracker,” one of the most popular Christmas ballet productions in the world, is coming to the City of El Monte for an exclusive, limited two-show engagement. Gloria Campobello Dance School and El Ballet del Noroeste de Mexico will present the touring ballet, which features more than 70 local and international ballet dancers from throughout the United States, Mexico and Cuba.
