Seven-Year-Old Sells Lemonade to Thank Local Cops With Box of Donuts

‘Heart Melting Moment,’ Says El Monte PD With all the national media focusing on so many shootings in the nation’s police departments … one young man in El Monte wanted to show his appreciation for the officers who protect his neighborhood. The following was posted on El Monte PD’s Facebook page: “While most kids spend their remaining days of summer salvaging their remaining days of fun, 7-yearold Cruz Acosta ran a lemonade stand yesterday in the 100 degree heat. But the reason why he did this will surprise you. “He spent the entire day in the heat serving up lemonade in order to raise enough money to buy a box of donuts for the men and women of the El Monte Police Department. “His parents said, ‘With all the stuff happening on the news, our son felt compelled to show you all you are appreciated.’ “Well little Cruz did it. He raised enough money to buy us this delicious box! This unexpected surprise happened when he showed up to the station along with mom and dad and this huge pink box! “Thank you Acosta family and thank you Cruz for your support. Your sign of appreciation is humbling and a reminder of why each of our members feels they belong to our community. Thank you again Cruz and family.” Sincerely, - Your El Monte Police Department
