Nursing Home Workers and Extended Care Riverside Management Reach an Agreement

After last month’s picket, in which over 100 workers participated, negotiations towards a mutually-favorable agreement have improved.

Last month, over 100 nursing home workers picketed outside of Extended Care Riverside (Extended Care) to demand that their employers negotiate a contract with them

that supports workers and enhances patient care. On Tuesday, July 5, they gathered to vote on an agreement that is favorable to both parties. Key parts of the agree-

ment include: funding for educational opportunities to enhance caregiving skills, such as CPR classes; efforts to increase staffing to meet patient care needs, and opportunities for staff growth

Male Shot Outside Extended Stay America in Arcadia

On Friday, July 8, at approximately 1:13 a.m., the Arcadia Police Department responded to the 400 block of East Santa Clara Street, regarding a report of a man down at the front of the location. Once on scene, officers found a male adult suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Arcadia Fire Department Paramedics were summoned and administered medical aid. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for further treatment. At this time, there are no motives, nor, has the susSEE PAGE 16
