Iconic Windmill Illuminates Downtown Arcadia No, that is not a full moon rising above Denny’s, although the now spinning windmill does form a perfect circle when captured in a time exposure. The Van De Kamp (Denny’s) windmill that

was recently reactivated takes on an ethereal look at sundown. It was the brilliant idea of local car-washing guru George Fasching that helped get the windmill spinning again.

Mayor Beck Recognizes AHS Advanced Theatre Students Members of Arcadia High School’s (AHS) Advanced Theatre program recently received special recognition from Mayor Tom Beck at the July 5 Arcadia City Council meeting for winning the First Place Sweepstakes Trophy twice this past year. These talented students scored higher than 90 other high schools, in-

cluding all the Los Angeles performing arts schools, at both their Fall Festival and Spring Shakespeare theatre competitions, sponsored by the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California. AHS Theatre Director Steven Volpe commented, "I am grateful to be in a school district and community that values and supports theatre arts education."

Residential Robbery – Three Suspects at Large

On Tuesday, July 5, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Arcadia Police responded to a home in the 500 block of West Live Oak Avenue on the report of a possible residential robbery. Two elderly victims were home sleeping when they woke to three suspects in their bedroom. The suspects

demanded cash and jewelry. The suspects fled with an undetermined loss. No weapons were seen by the victims. Both victims reported minor injuries as a result of the incident however neither required medical treatment. Suspect #1 was deSEE PAGE 13
