As part of their drought tolerant landscape overhaul, the El Monte Cemetery Association is sponsoring a “Walk with Goats” Open House, April 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Experience firsthand how valuable goats are used as environmentally-friendly weed abatement and fire prevention. Johnny Gonzalez, from ELMgoats. com, will bring his herd of goats to help us get rid of our four acres of waterthirsty weeds and grass. Watch baby kids frolic as they learn what goats do best, eat weeds. While you are here watching the goats you can also learn about our pioneer cemetery and its importance as a California historical landmark. Then, on April 30, from 8 a.m. to noon, the Rosemead Beautification Committee will be sponsoring Rosemead Civic Pride Day, where hundreds of volunteers will help us install our new Veteran’s Garden, spread mulch to reduce grass, plant flowers, and SEE PAGE 12
