Homelessness for women has doubled and Latinos still represent 45% of the homeless population in NELA.

Brown Jr. issued the following statement after numerous states took legal action to block the Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan, which sets nationwide limits on greenhouse gas emissions from power plants: “While the world’s scientists warn of the existen-

tial threat we face, these misguided political representatives seek to take America into a dark age of climate denial,” said Gov. Brown. “I will do everything in my power to fight this pernicious lawsuit.” Power plants are the largest emitters of greenhouse gases among stationary sources in the United

A 50-year-old taekwondo instructor was sentenced Oct. 27, 2015, to state prison for sexually abusing female students, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Bruce Marrs sentenced Marc Scott Gitelman of Las Vegas to four years, four months in state prison and ordered the

defendant to register as a lifetime sex offender. On Sept. 8, a jury found Gitelman guilty of three felony counts in case KA106849: oral copulation of a person under 18, unlawful sexual intercourse and lewd act upon a child. Deputy District Attorney Kelsey McKeeverUnger, who prosecuted the case, said at the time of the crimes, Gitelman was

a top ranked taekwondo instructor. He had his own school and taught at community centers and at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
