LASD AED Seeks the Public’s Help Locating Possible Firebug in Police Impound Yard Arson. Detectives from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Arson and Explosives Detail responded to “Crescenta Valley Tow” located at 4456 Cloud Avenue, La Crescenta Thursday, in regards to an arson fire at the police impound yard. When detectives arrived at the location, they noticed several buildings had been completely consumed by the fire. Detectives continued to examine the scene and discovered the location was equipped with a number of video surveillance cameras. An examination of the surveillance footage revealed at least two suspects had forcibly entered the location and intentionally set fire to the structure, which included the police impound bay utilized by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and Glendale police department. Additional surveillance footage from surrounding businesses captured images of a black compact sedan, believed to be a late model SEE PG. 5

Los AngelesArea Executive Arrested in $9 Million Bank Fraud Scheme A Los Angeles-area executive was arrested last week in connection with a $9 million scheme to defraud United Commercial Bank and East West Bank, announced Assistant Attorney General Leslie R. Caldwell of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, Acting U.S. Attorney Stephanie Yonekura of the Central District of California, Special Inspector General Christy Romero for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP), Assistant Director in Charge David L. Bowdich of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office and Special Agent in Charge Erick Martinez of the IRS-Criminal Investigation’s (IRS-CI) Los Angeles Field Office. Chung Yu “Louis” Yeung, 37, of San Dimas, California, was indicted on Oct. 22, 2014, in the Central District of California for one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and five counts of bank fraud. The indictment was under seal until his arrest today. Guo Xiang “David” Fan, 52, was also indicted for conspiracy to commit bank fraud and bank fraud, as well as money laundering, and remains SEE PG.4

Matt Denny’s 13th Annual St. Baldrick’s Slated March 19

Thursday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m., Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant will be holding their 13th St. Baldrick’s Day Fundraiser to benefit children’s cancer research. Over 150 men, women and children will shave their heads to show solidarity for the children that lose their hair during cancer treatment. What started as a challenge among friends in the reinsurance industry in New York to raise $17,000 by shaving 17 heads has generated over $200 million in donations since its inception. “This has been a great SEE PG.3
