Crews will be constructing a new bridge over Santa Anita Avenue at the railroad crossing in Arcadia, as part of the 11.5-mile Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension light rail project. Long-term lane closures on Santa Anita Avenue are required to accomplish this work. The lanes will be closed approximately
from Newman Avenue to Santa Clara Street. The lane closures will occur in phases with a total duration of approximately seven months. The first phase of lane closures will take approximately 4 months, and include the closure of La Porte Street at Santa Anita Ave. Pedestrians will be detoured around
Santa Anita Avenue during this phase of work. One night of full closure of Santa Anita is scheduled to take place this Thursday, May 23, 2013, to set the traffic control equipment. - Seven months of lane closures are scheduled to begin this week. - A full closure of Santa

Since January of this year, the Alhambra Police Department (APD) has been policing the streets aided by new cutting-edge technology called “Predictive Policing” (PredPol). “PredPol is one more tool to prevent crime,” explained Field Services Captain Elliot Kase. “Based on current crime data, the program can pinpoint areas where there is a higher probability that a crime may occur on a specific day of the week or a particular time of day.” PredPol concerns itself with what the officers know as “Part 1 crimes” - property crimes such as residential burglaries and stolen vehicles.
