Former Sierra Madre Mayor is Cross-Defendant in El Monte’s Lawsuit

In honor of Veterans’ Day, Longden Elementary School will hold a special flag ceremony to honor Longden’s community members who have served and are serving in America’s armed forces and to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by military families. By Dena M. Burroughs The City of El Monte has filed a civil action at the Los Angeles Superior Court in which it names three companies and thirteen individuals as participating in “a scheme to de-
fraud the City and Agency and misappropriate public funds.” The case was filed in response to a lawsuit by Transite Village LLC (TV LLC), which the City of El Monte had contracted to build the El Monte Transit Village, a complex that in-
cluded a bus terminal plus businesses and residences along Santa Anita Avenue and next to the 10 freeway. TV LLC insists that its contract was prematurely terminated. The lawsuit filed by the City of El Monte says that TV LLC and its affili-
