Beaconhouse School System KG II PECHS Newsletter May 2018 A famous English saying “All work no play makes Jack a dull boy”, tells us the importance of physical education in a child’s life. Academic learning and sports education go hand in hand. Teamwork, leadership qualities, sharing, and patience are resultant of an academic curriculum where sports are given adequate importance. This year’s sports program was the reflection of our devoted efforts to build our students’ characters progressively. Our prominence sports program accommodates variety of activities that gives our students more and more opportunities to develop a sound body to hold a sound mind. It includes: • Kids Athletic Competition: A series of kid’s athletics were organized throughout the year for classes Nursery, KG, I, II, and III.
• Inter Class Contests: Continuous inter class contests and mini sports were held for Pre -Nurseries, Nurseries and KG ‘s
• Inter SGO Tournaments: A Dodge the Ball tournament for class I, Tug of war for class II and a Cricket Tournament for class III was organized by SGO. These competitions enabled students to learn to receive victory with humility and face defeat with a smile. For further enhancing sports skills we have Physical clubs which include Taekondow ,Yoga and Gymnastics Annual Sports Day Annual Sports Day is one of the regular features. Sports Day 2018 was held at AKU Sports Gymnasium. The co-ordination, team spirit and enthusiasm of our young aspiring athletes was highly praised by the parents.
International Women’s Day: International Women’s Day was celebrated to acknowledge the achievements of women around the globe. Students paid tributes by reciting poems, speeches and quotes. Dr. Aiman Amir was invited to create awareness about health and fitness in mothers. This proved to be an interactive session and benefited the guests. The event was concluded by a cake cutting ceremony by our esteemed guests and students. “Where there is a woman there is magic” – Notzoke Shange Spreading Happiness Annual Concert: It was such an amazing morning to see our little stars shining in their colorful attire, ready to rock the stage in the Annual Concert. Their enthusiastic and mesmerizing performances captivated the audience. Thanks to the countless efforts of our teachers and students to make the event a great success.
Moments of Pride: With immense pleasure and pride, we would like to congratulate Mariam Mishka of lll-A for receiving Gold Medal and a reward of Rs: 50,000 in KSF Pakistan Poster Contest.
Sayyan Jockey of Class ll-B also made us proud by achieving first position in Toyota Dream Car Contest. Taha Aun Ali of Class ll-C received a special prize in Art Beat National Child Art Competition. LLRC: A library plays a very important role in promoting the progress of knowledge. Various activities and contests were arranged as a part of the Library Learning Resource Center this year. E.g GK quiz, spell junior for early years and library trivia, science quiz for Lower primary. We aim to continue with more initiatives in the coming years to promote love for reading in our students. A token of appreciation was given to the regular LLRC visiting mothers of Nursery and Pre-Nursery. In future we would love to welcome more
mothers to visit LLRC in the new session to be a part of their child’s learning. Besides various activities, a structured reading program was introduced to boost reading skills of students linking to the school improvement plan. “The library is the heart of the school, it’s the Hub”- Ron Black. Jashn-e Baharan: Our young and energetic event managers of grade lll planned and organized a fun filled event to welcome Spring in relation to their Urdu project. Such events prove to be beneficial to promote collaboration and team work among them. Walkthroughs:A new initiative of BSS has enabled parents to visit classrooms and interact with students witnessing how learning takes place during school hours.
Nurturing and Enhancing Students Talents and Strengths (NESTS): Clubs in school not only promote collaboration and cooperation among students but also provide an opportunity to interact with new fellows. This year under the banner of NESTS various clubs were introduced such as Photography, Mind works, Kids Mania, Wiz kids, Year book club, Brain Teaser etc. These clubs proved to be a platform where students gained knowledge about various aspects of life and learned different skillset simultaneously. Graduation/ Farewell: • A graduation ceremony was arranged for our bright kindergarteners as they move from Early Years to Lower Primary. • A farewell party was organized for our very own class III’s to wish them luck for their future endeavors.
Teacher Trainings: High importance is given to teacher training at our branch. This year our teachers Ms. Alina Erfan ,Ms.Ramsha Zafar, Ms.Fatema Khozema, Ms.Maira Hassan, Ms. Khushbakht, Ms. Namrah Ali and Ms.Faria Bashir have completed various professional development courses. These teachers would definitely make a difference in our BSS community which would benefit our students. In the end I would like to wish you all a peaceful Ramadan and Happy Summer break.

Survey of My School I am Abubakar. I study in class lll-B. Our teacher took us for a survey of the school so that we can write a report on the activities going around. We were group of 12 students. We started our survey from Bubbles where young kids were busy in doing different fun activities that made them learn different things. Later we went to KG playground where students were participating in Taekwondo. We have different clubs in our school to enhance abilities of the students. Then we saw class ones and twos. Students were busy in their work on net books and copies. In the library Ms. Nadia was narrating a story to a group of students. In the music room student were busy in playing different songs. Pre nursery was having in their play time. All the classes were very well kept and organized. This was an interesting activity of our club which gave us an idea that how everyone was busy in school routine and working together for students. A Ceremony to Cherish I am Haya Danish studying in class lll. I am here to share a prestige that my school won by participating in KSF poster making competition. One of my fellows MIshka Merchant won the first prize in this competition. It was a moment of pride for whole school. Her distinction was highly appreciated by the school, a ceremony was arranged on 13th February to honor Mishka. It was a splendid ceremony. Many parents were invited. It was a fun day everybody was happy specially Mishka because along with the trophy she got a huge prize money of fifty thousand rupees.
Our Annual Sports Day My name is Danish Memon. Our school pays a lot of attention on sports and other co-curricular activities. Annual Sports day was organized on 13th January 2018 at the Agha Khan Gymnasium, Karachi. It was a very exciting and fun filled event. I participated in hurdle and pick up the cone race. I stood second in the race. Our school band also performed in the ceremony. It was a breathtaking moment, they were playing so well that everyone was mesmerized. Aerobics, Taekwondo and Gymnastics were also the attraction of the day. A large number of parents came to witness the event. Refreshments were distributed among the students. It was the best of my life I wish we can have a sports day every month.

My Club This year a new club “Photography” was introduced in NESTS. We used different modes and options of camera to click pictures of different plants, animals, people and objects and covered some school events. We worked on different themes every week. Tale of a Scary Night - A Suspense story One dark winter night Emily was sleeping under her cozy bed covers, when she heard a bang on the door. She got out of bed and shivered to the door. Emily opened the door and stepped on to the front porch, looking around but nothing was there. Emily strolled around her little cottage to see if anything was there she got back to her old ragged door and she was certain there was nothing there. Suddenly she heard a noise. She thought It was a ghost but she knew ghosts don’t exist. BANG!!! The door slammed behind her. Emily turned around and started thumping on the door “let me in! Let me in!” but it was not a wise idea. She went around her house and looked through the window but the curtains were closed. Then she heard the same noise again. She was frightened and shivering with fear, suddenly she heard “Emily, why are you taking so long. It’s me your grand ma”. Emily was relieved and sighed” Thank God, It’s you grand ma “. Bell and Holly Once upon a time there lived a small, golden hair fairy in a lily flower. Her name was Bell. She was very beautiful. Every morning she ate fruits from the trees and played among the flowers. Bees and butterflies were her friends. One day a girl named Holly came to the garden. She was amazed to see Bell. Holly shook her hand with Bell and became friends. The next day a nasty crow came to the garden. It tried to eat the fairy thinking it was a baby bird. Right, then Holly came to the rescue and saved Bell. Holy asked bell to live with her in her small house. At first, Bell thought a little but when she saw the crow, she said yes.
