BLUE BUBBLE DAY WITH LITTLE ANGELS
Early Years celebrated Blue Bubble Day on Friday, 16th October 2015. Children were all dressed-up in blue colored clothes and brought toys of the same color. Students played online game “Pop the Bubble” on PC. PreNursery made blue goggles whereas Nursery and K.G classes designed boat caps.

BEACONISTA 2K16 The first ever mega sports event for Secondary School was organized by BSS Mirpur on February 19, 20 and 21. It comprised thrilling events of Table tennis (Girls/Boys), Badminton (Boys /Girls), Gaming Fifa 2k16, Cricket (Boys) and Futsal (Boys). The players were enthusiastic about the different challenges and faced cut throat competitions. The grand Sports event was culminated with enthralling music concert by the music icon Asrar Ahmed.
THE CULTURAL EXPRESSION
Beaconhouse Mirpur Campus participated in "The Cultural Show" at BSS Gujrat Campus. Students of BSS Mirpur took part in Arts, Singing, and Acting competition along with Poetry recitation. We are really proud of our students of class VIII to O levels and matric who performed brilliantly and bagged the positions. Alizey Raza of class VIII was placed at 2nd position and Abeer Sajjad of class VIII took 3rd position in poetry recitation. For singing competition Jazza Sundas of class VIII took home 3rd position. In Acting Daniyal Aziz XI C, Sidra Tahir IXC, Dua Mir IXM, Noor ul Ain VIII and Amina Chaudhary VIII were placed at second position. Wania Asjad VIII stood fourth in Arts competition. GREEN LIVING “BINGO KINDNESS”
Green Living Association and the World Kindness Movement launched the campaign ‘Kindness Pakistan’ in bringing love, peace and social harmony among the nation. Students took part in different categories in accordance to their grades. Category 1 (Grade preschool to 3), Category 2 (Grade 4 to 7) Category 3 (Grade 8 to 12) They read inspirational stories with their teachers and parents and selected 5 BINGO stories. Saneem Fatima, Class V-B has won the title of Super Green Angel (the Campus Winner). Green Angels Abdur Rafay Class 2-Blue & Onais Zeeshan Class KG have secured Recognition Medals on their brilliant performances.
KANGAROO LINGUISTIC CONTEST
Kangaroo Linguistic Contest was conducted at Beaconhouse Mirpur on 18th November, 2015 where students from grade 1 to grade XI participated and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience! Maira Faheem of Class III brought laurels to the branch by grabbing Bronze Medal in the contest.
Newsletter First Edition (2015-16) INTER-CLASS DEBATE COMPETITION
"Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress." The process of debate offers profound and lasting benefits for individuals, for societies and for the global community as a whole. Beaconhouse Mirpur organized the inter-class debate competition for students of class VI – IXC on December 1st, 2015. The topic for the debate for class VI was “Today’s generation is fashion victim" and for VII to IXC "The great things are done by only those individuals who can lead the masses". GREEN LIVING QUIZ Green Living Association imparts modern Environmental Education especially to students and generally to all segments of society by arranging innovative, colourful and interactive activities. The focus is to inspire each member of the society to contribute his/ her part in the process of pollution check, effective waste management and energy conservation in order to make an Environment Friendly Pakistan. Students of Beaconhouse Mirpur participated in the Green Living Quiz to become active members of the society, working positively for betterment of the environment. Abeera Imran of Class I Green has been selected as a Green Angel.

URDU STORY TELLING COMPETITION
INTERNATIONAL BEBRAS INFORMATICS CONTEST IBIC) The Bebras contest is an international contest on informatics and computer fluency for all ages of school students. It was held first time in Pakistan on 19th December, 2015. Students of Class III-VI participated in this competition. Ayesha Ali of Class III, Laiba Zia of Class IV, Muhammad bin Ahmed & Moiz Rehman of Class VI got Distinction awards. Certificate distribution ceremoney was held on 26th February, 16. Headmistress Ma'am Nezafat Malik distributed certificates and bronze medal to the bright students of BSS Mirpur.

BSS believes in healthy competitions, as these events inculcate a sense of confidence, critical thinking and leadership in the students. There have been numerous competitions held at different branches and BSS Mirpur students have always been active participants in all competitions. Urdu story telling competition was held at BSS F/11 branch. Students of class IV - Zobia Atif, Amina Zulfiqar and Isra Omer participated in it. Zobia Atif brought laurels to the branch by winning consolation prize in Inter School Urdu story telling competition.
BATTLE OF THE HOUSES (IQBAL VS JINNAH)
Jinnah house vs Iqbal house ......A friendly cricket match was played by the teams of these two houses on 18th November, 2015 where JINNAH HOUSE kept up their moto "unity, faith and discipline" and IQBAL HOUSE displayed their moto "where eagles dare". Both the teams played really well but after a cut throat competition .....Jinnah house was declared the WINNER!
COSTUME PARTY Costume part was celebrated on 19th February,2016. Children garbed as different characters added color and excitement in the event. Students from classes I— V dressed up in different costumes based on the themes given to them. They also shared information about their character.
BNR Photography and Collage Competition Students of Class VI Abdul Rehman Tariq, Bisma Omar & Fiza Atif participated in "Online Photography Embed in Collage Competition 2016" on 11th April, 2016 held by Senior Boys Branch, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. Students were given the theme of "Photo Perspective". They captured amazing perspectives of different objects around them and fix them in a collage. Fiza Atif qualified for BNR photography and Collage Competition held on 18th May, 2016 by achieving 3rd position in Intra group online competitions of SG2, where nine finalists took part from SG1, SG2 & SG3. The topic for this competition was "Shadows". Shadow is a dark area or shape produced by a body blocking rays of Light. By using this property of light she made a creative and artistic photo collage and brought laurels to the BSS Mirpur by achieving 3rd position in Northern Region. Page 5 of 12

Early years students celebrated friendship day on 11th October, 2015 at Beaconhouse Mirpur. Children came in colourful dresses and brought their toys. They learnt to share their favourite toys with their friends ,made friendship bands for their friends. The spirit of positive frienship has been accentuated among the students.
LETS BE CREATIVE
A day of creativity was held on Friday January 15, 2016. Parents were invited to be creative with their children by making jewelery and eye masks as well as gift wrapping. Enthusiasm of parents and their children as well was remarkable. They brought creative ideas to make eye masks and gift wraps and participated with zeal and zest.

Children of Pre-Nursery enjoyed the noodle making activity related with ’n’ sound on Monday February 8, 2016 . They brought noodles from their homes, found the phonic sounds from the packs e.g. s, a, t, i, p, n and did the action of these sounds. They observed the cooking of noodles and enjoyed eating yummy noodles with their fellows.
A CANDY LAND DAY OF EARLY YEARS Students of Early Years celebrated the Candy Land Day on 12th February 2016.They dressed up like candies, marshmallows, and chocolates and brought candies, marshmallows, and chocolates for their friends which helped them to develop sharing habit. All children participated with zeal & zest in their little candy land.
FUN WITH PHONICS
Children of Pre-Nursery & Nursery invited their mothers to have fun with phonics in their class and participated in different activities enthusiastically. Children enjoyed different rounds such as Round 1: Phonics sounds and their actions Round 2: Pick the picture of any object, find its beginning sound and paste both on the paper with glue Round 3: Using tablets to play different Apps which helped them to learn more about sounds Children of Pre-Nursery also performed on rainbow rhyme which made the event more colorful.

MOTHERS’ DAY SOUVENIR Students of BSS Mirpur paid tribute to their mothers through numerous activities. Each class made souvenir for their mothers such as necklaces, photo frames, flower basket, mugs/pots/Vase painting, laces on dopatas, 3D cards and head gears for their Mothers with great love. They also shared their love through video messages uploaded on BSS facebook page.
DINE IN WITH DADDY Kids who enjoy breakfast every day have better memories, more stable moods and energy, and score higher on tests. Eating a breakfast high in quality protein—from enriched cereal, yoghurt, milk, cheese, eggs, meat, or fish—can even help teenagers lose weight. Students were appreciated to eat healthy food at home and to bring healthy food at school as a lunch. Culmination of the healthy food activity was done by celebrating A delicious, delighted “Dine in with Daddy” was celebrated on 29th March, 2016 where fathers of Early years -IXC were invited to enjoy healthy meal prepared by their kids. Students shared nutritional facts and values of the meals with their fathers. All in all, the activity was not merely a feast, it also induced the imperial value of healthy lifestyle.
The Open Day was celebrated on 19th March, 2016 that enabled the visitors to grasp the very optimistic, purposeful and lively educational community which has been developed at BSS Mirpur. The event included a range of activities related to various dimensions of childhood development including Granny's Urdu and English stories, Nutritionist’s Talk, Model Lessons, Martial Arts, Stage performances, Digital literacy. The event also included various stalls exhibiting the talent of our brilliant students. Different learning activities, model lessons, workshops, role plays, and magic shows were arranged. The day-long event included activities related to essential dimensions of early childhood development that ensures entertainment and learning for all. Large number of people visited and appreciated the rich learning environment of the school. It was a beautiful day that benefited the parents in understanding the true picture of BSS life.

Drama and role plays have always been an integral part of BSS curriculum. Drama Festival was organized by the students of Classes I to XM on April 21st & 22nd 2016. The event was packed with theatrical performances. The evening was a culmination of emotions, as the young actors brought the house down with the epic presentations on a number of diverse themes such as social chores and moral lessons. The young actors and performers brought the house down with the excellent show of their skills. Grade I performed on a role play "Nature" and a poem "Rain Rain." Grade II performed on role plays "Bees and Pied Piper" Grade III performed on a role play "Stolen Innocence based on the theme of Child Labor" and on a song "A New Day Has Come." Grade IV and Grade V altogether performed on role plays "Faith Brings Miracle", "Bulley Shah" and "Pewasta Reh Shajar Sey". The flawless performance of VI Blue of 'The dying gladiator' won audience plaudits. 'The Evil Thriller' by VI Yellow gave thought provoking message about the excessive use of social networking sites. VIII -IX students delivered an immaculate improvisation of Shakespeare's play ‘Macbeth’. The shadow performance of VII Blue 'An Ode To A Hero' left the audience awestruck.

SPORTS EXTRAVAGANZA, 2016 (EARLY YEARS TO CLASS V) Beaconhouse places great importance on sports in the curriculum, and of course it is now universally accepted as being an integral part of an all-round education. We are intensifying our efforts to further promote sports beyond what is already in place. BSS Mirpur organized sports extravaganza on 22nd March, 2016 for reinforcing the confidence and sportsman spirit of BSS students by providing them opportunities to participate in variety of games.

Language Enhancement program has been reinforced to enhance English spoken & fluency in the students. Students from class 1-IXC, IXM were selected as Language Ambassadors after reviewing their progress within and outside the class. Initial stage is yellow badge of "Language Ambassador" & the second stage is green badges of "Language Ambassador". These are being awarded to the students who have been conversing in English fluently. The ceremony is conducted fortnightly.
CULTURAL SHOW OF EARLY YEARS
On Friday, 26th February students of classes VIVIII showcased the most innovative and creative talent in the form of young designers, artists, creative directors and fashion enthusiasts. We witnessed the creativity at it's peak, with their overwhelming participation and extravagant designs.
Early years organized a cultural show on 12th of May 2016 and invited their parents. The program featured a range of performances for audience. Children came on the stage with displays, performed their cultural dances and shared the information of Pakistani cultures such as Kashmiri, Balochi, Punjabi, Pakhtoon and Sindhi culture with the audience.

The Long Service Award Ceremony is a long-standing tradition at Beaconhouse School System to pay tribute to the staff members for their dedication, professionalism, hard work, consistency and integrity. The LSA Ceremony was held at Beaconhouse Newlands on April 1, 2016. The inspiring staff members of Mirpur Branch including Ms Sobia Mir, Ms Nazia Yasmin , Ms Sonia Khan, Ms Farah Mehmood ,Ms Komal Imtiaz, Ms Tasleem Akhtar, Ms Jamila Rabbi ,Ms Sadaf Maqbool and junior staff members Mr Adnan Raza ,Harrison Massih were proud to receive the appreciation awards for their untiring efforts.Along with this recognition, Ms Fatima Sabir and Ms Komal Imtiaz were acknowledged as the best teachers of the branch this year.
Teacher’s training has been a major focus by BSS Mirpur Management, School Group and Regional Office in this academic year. Trainings on ICT Lesson planning, Spoken English, Group Work, Class Room Management, Effective Questioning were held to train the teachers and improve their teaching skills.
STUDENT SUPPORT PROGRAM Throughout the year, teachers have provided support to meeting the individual needs of students, especially in the month of April and May remedial classes were scheduled for students to prepare them well for the grand challenges of Exam.

Students of IXC,IXM,XM,XC conducted a delightful program to entertain the out going students and the teachers.Theme of the party was “Desi Swags”and guests were dressed up traditionally according to the theme.

Books, notebooks and stationary items, lunch boxes and water bottles are clearly labeled. Stationary items must be handed over to the class teachers only. We continue with the summer timings and uniform when school reopens. Please drop and pick your children well in time in the morning and afternoon. Admissions are open throughout for Pre-Nursery - O Levels. Challan form for the month of August, September can be collected from the school office from mid of August, 2016.
