Headmistress’s Note “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” ~ Aristotle Dear Parents, Another school year is coming to a close and it is my pleasure and privilege to once again have the opportunity to share my thoughts with you on the academic and personal development of our children. As parents and teachers, there is nothing more rewarding than to witness our students’ God-gifted potential blossom and materialize into a myriad of talents that are unique to each child. We are blessed to have this opportunity to guide these young lives in their developmental years as it is a responsibility of the greatest importance. Here at Beaconhouse-HSPR we aim to touch every aspect of the individual personality – whether it is in intellectual pursuits, physical aptitude, or artistic and musical capabilities, and it is our singular aim to maximize student participation within the classroom as well as in extra-curricular activities. In addition, we take pride in inculcating strong moral values of hard work, team spirit, modesty and honest competition through these events. The emphasis on motivating our students through good ethics and patriotism is also the hallmark of the Beaconhouse School network; we desire to build self-confidence through
courage, and an attitude of never giving up but to keep trying until we achieve our goal. This year as well, our students have shown a heartening response in a variety of activities, including science and mathematics competitions, sports events, imaginative displays of painting and drawing skills, and oratory prowess. It has been a fulfilling academic year despite the impediments caused by the ongoing security concerns, which we must not allow to detract us from providing a wellrounded, quality education to our pupils.

The Learning Festival Our Branch hosted a one-day learning festival on th Sunday 6 March, 2016. Basically the event was aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and to provide educational activities for young children. The festival lasted six hours in which parents, children and even outsiders thronged the branch because of its attractive activities for all age groups. Maam Sumaira Naveed emphasized the importance of parents’ involvement in children’s overall performance. She reiterated the fact that information technology was an integral part of learning and suggested ways incorporate it into these young minds.

One Dream, One Vision, One Mission The historic day of 23rd March, 1940 signifies a relentless struggle that ended with the creation of Pakistan.

HSPR true to its traditions commemorated rd 23 March with utmost zeal and fervor. The students with national enthusiasm and spirit celebrated the day displaying integrity and patriotism. The program was orchestrated with singing of beautiful national songs followed by a skit “Quaid Ki Baatein”. Patriotic and motivational speeches were also delivered. Emotional oration and a splendid parade ignited the emotions and entrusted the students with a sense of
responsibility to always uphold the Green flag. Little angels of Early Years also enthusiastically participated in this program, holding flags and buntings adding beauty to the program. Mrs. Sumairah Naveed (H.M) spoke to the children regarding the importance of this fortunate day and she took students’ responses. The program evoked great sense of patriotism in our young Beaconites.

CAREER COUNCELLING
A career guidance session was held on March 3, 2016 for our outgoing classes, the Eighth grade. The aim was to inform the students about the different stream of studies to opt for: IGCSE, GCE or Matric. Ma’am Raqia, a senior Beaconhouse graduate was invited to help students understand clearly the choices available and which one will suit them best. She gave an in-depth knowledge about the different stream of studies, their importance, application and the top universities offering the relative subjects.
Grandparents’ Day Our tiny tots celebrated the Grand Parents Day to recognize the vital role of grandparents in their lives as custodians and as providers of care and love. The little ones performed role plays sang songs shared their views and presented souvenirs to recognize the irreplaceable role grandparents have in their lives.
Transportation Day
LONG SERVICE AWARDS Loyalty to one’s employer remains a highly prized attribute and is fundamental to the healthy growth and development of any institution. Beaconhouse School System organized a Long Service Award Ceremony at Beaconhouse Newland Banigala. The basic purpose was to appreciate and honour the dedication, the loyalty, the commitment and a strong sense of belonging to its staff for the instrumental development and accomplishments over the years. Following staff member were awarded long service awards for 25 years, 10 years and 5 years respectively. The awardees included Ms. Sumaira Naveed (HM), Ms. Zainab Hussain (SM) and Ms. Afsheen Raja (Librarian) from administration, Ms. Naima Ashraf, Ms. Bushra Areeb Fatimah, Ms. Azra Ijaz, Ms. Madiha, Ms. Maliha, Ms. Rashmina, Ms. Kousar Nayab, Ms. Saima Tahir, Ms. Shazia Shahzad, Ms. Sania, Mr. Badil from Teaching Faculty and Mr. Irfan Ali, Mr. Allah Baksh and Mr. Shaukat from Support Staff.
To make our Early Year kids familiar with the different means of transport, an activity was conducted based on transportation on st Friday, 1 April 2016 These tiny tots not only enthusiastically participated in a role play but also performed with zeal and zest on different songs like ‘Wheels of the bus go round and round…’, I ride on a bike….’, ‘row, row, row your boat’. They also shared information about different means of transportation by displaying their toy vehicles and relating their significance in their daily life. .
Camera, Light, Collage! We expect our parents to be as talented, creative and innovative as our young Beaconites. In this context, an online Photography Embedded into a Collage Competition 2015-16 was arranged to explore their hidden skills. The topic for the competition was ‘Collage of Your Child’s Pics”. The parents enthusiastically took part in this activity and created collages of their child’s growing years. Selected entries according to the criteria already shared with parents were uploaded on our Facebook page and opened for polls. The entries with maximum number of likes were considered a Winner. Aysel Khan (III – C), Emaan Ahmed (Nursery – B), and Aadil Shahbaz Khan (KG – A) won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, respectively. The winners were given movie tickets to Cinepax.

Animals around Us “Each and every animal on earth has as much right to be here as you and me”. To make our children familiarize with different animals and their characteristics, an ’Animal Day’ was celebrated by the children of Pre-Nursery and Nursery. They did different interactive activities which enhanced their learning. PowerPoint presentations and videos about different animals were shown to the students followed by questioning and class discussion sessions. Little kids enthusiastically participated in ‘show and tell activity’ using their toy animals.

Sports Week “Victory isn't defined by wins or losses. It is defined by effort. If you can truthfully say, 'I did the best I could, I gave everything I had,' then you're a winner.” Sports Week is the major and much anticipated event in HSPR, which started from 23rd February 2016 and lasted till 1st March, 2016. The four houses Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Fatima Jinnah and Sir Syed, comprising over 400 students participated in a variety of athletics and race events. The sports week celebrations were held in the school playground which was decorated with flags, banners, balloons and buntings highlighting the spirit of the season. The main objective of the event was to provide a platform to the students where they could explore their skills and enjoy quality time with their peers.
Annual Sports Gala “Talent wins games, but team work and intelligence wins championships.” The annual sports day of Beaconhouse Harley Street concluded on Friday, 20th May 2016 with jubilation. The event commenced with the Holy name of Allah followed by a short address by our chief guests General Tanveer, Yasmeen Jadoon and the formal cricketer Mohammad Wasim. There were numerous events in which the students displayed their athletic skills such as races, tug of war, Karate, Dodge-the-ball, aerobics workout, fire jumps and tile breaking. The School Choir gave a lovely performance throughout which captivated the audience till the end with its blend of cosmic tune and marvelous music. The event was concluded by the thank you note by our respected HM Ma’am Sumaira Naveed.

Kindness Bingo ‘Kindness BINGO’ is a fascinating game organized by Green Living Association for the students and their families who are to rate the kindness stories given in the guidebooks into their exclusive order to develop Kindness as a habit – and to win lucrative prizes. Our students from pre nursery to grade 8 participated. With immense pleasure we share that Haya Hammad of Pre Nursery -B from our campus has won the title of Super Green Angel (the Campus Winner).

Well done HSPR! Advertisement by using Comics
The BSS Intra Group competition on “Advertisements by using comics” is a way for the students to show their creativity through devising interesting ideas for launching a new product in the market. Through this activity our young beaconites of class V III exhibited their confidence to face challenges of production growth. Iman Attique won 1st Prize and Nimra Abbasi received Consolation Prize. Congratulations HSPR!
My Teacher, My Hero ArtBeat – National Child Art Competition and Exhibitions promote visual culture, understanding of issues among children and youth from their own perspective; celebrate children as artists and present children’s view as a point of discourse for adults and community. This year’s ArtBeat theme was “My Teacher My Hero”. Children picked one favorite teacher that inspired them and painted or drew their portraits. Teachers are central to our lives. They educate and shape us in so many ways. This was a small tribute to our teachers
Narrate a Different End
The destiny of the world is determined less by the battles that are lost and won than by the stories it loves and believes in. ~ Harold Goddard Online Intra Group Competition - “Write and Narrate a Different End” for KG is a way for the students to show their creativity through English writing skills. It was first conduct in school Group in which students has to write a different end to a story. Later, it was organized in the whole northern region in which students narrated a different end to the given story. Students of HSPR enthusiastically participated and showcased their creative writing skills. Our little star st Inaya Habib not only secured 1 position in the school group but also in the whole northern region. We are proud of you Inaya! Good job done!
PICTURE READING SAGA
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” ~ Dr. Seuss Reading is dreaming with open eyes. Love of books is one of the most important life attitudes that we can give to our kids .To encourage the children to see themselves as self-reliant and fluent readers, an Online Intra Group Competition "Picture Reading Saga" of Pre Nursery was held on 27th April 2016. Our students participated enthusiastically and amazed the viewers with their brilliant reading skills and expressions. Our nd bright star Mahina Munir secured 2 position. Well Done Mahina!
International Kangaroo Competitions A ceremony was held for all our IKLC and IBIC participants to encourage their performance in these contests, by distributing certificates to them. Farewell
The IKMC is a source of intellectual encouragement for all. This year too, we encouraged, motivated and prepared our little geniuses to enhance their mathematics skills and stimulate the genre for analytical thinking and calculations by participating actively. Noor-ul-Huda and M. Abyyan Abbasi from HSPR won Bronze Medals. Well done master minds, keep up the good work.
Professional Development Beaconhouse has always strived for the Professional development of the teachers too. In this context, a program HEX is designed for Advanced Skilled Teacher (AST) to work in a supportive role for the professional Development of the colleague teachers in school context. Mrs Shumaiza Rizwan was one of the AST who got the certificate after three years of immense training.
Students are the most important asset of the school, without them schools and teachers are nothing. We at HSPR bid farewell to our outgoing Grade VIII at a sumptuous High Tea arranged at Marcopolo, Pearl Continental Rawalpindi. We wish them all the very best in their future pursuits.
Golf Champion Arooba Ali, a shining star of HSPR, participated in a Golf Championship -p0 tournament “COAS” whose purpose was not just to win a trophy but to win the hearts of the gold enthusiasts. Aging 12, Arooba was the youngest participant and she played wonderfully securing 3rd position in this four days event.

PTM of the 2 term was held on 12th of February to update parents about the progression of their children’s academic development, focus on students' specific strengths and weaknesses in individual subjects and generalizing the level of intercurricular skills and competences. Suggestions and queries were also entertained as a mean to bring about improvement in the system.

Being Empathetic In the early days of May, 11 students of HSPR paid a visit to Iqbal Foundation Primary School, a non-profit organization committed to providing free-of-cost quality education. Currently, there are more than 120 children enrolled in the school and are receiving quality primary education completely free of cost. All school text books, supplies and uniforms are provided for the children. Students of HSPR spent valuable time with them asking different questions, interacting with them and sharing their heartwarming life stories. On returning to school the students shared their experience with their school fellows that how through their good work and community service they can empathize with others, ensuring the creation of a more civil society and a just, caring and compassionate world.

Extra-curricular activities have always been a part and parcel of Beaconhouse School System. We have always encouraged & emphasized upon the importance of this aspect along with academics for healthy physical and mental growth of the students. Every opportunity is provided to the students to discover & polish their hidden talents. The school offers a variety of clubs & societies, like Art and Craft English Literary Club, Urdu Literary Club, Aerobics Club, ET (Education Technologies) Club, Music Club, Stitching Club, Cooking Club, Dramatic Club, Environmental Studies Club. These clubs and societies are headed by the presidents with the help of a general secretary under the supervision of talented instructors.
