HEAD OF SCHOOL’S NEWSLETTER NO. 3 Dear Parents, Just some quick updates as a Newsletter.

As a result of the very busy schedule of activities at the school recently, we have found our school play ‘Wizard of Oz’ impacting our preparation for and actual December Assessments for Years 6 – 12 beginning on Monday 28th November until Tuesday 13th December. For years 4 – 5 in both branches these assessments will be from 5 – 9 December. The School Play will now be staged (and to be confirmed) for 19/20/21 January 2017. We believe that this reprieve on the involved students’ hectic schedule will ensure more time to practice and for the actors feel less stressed and pressured to perform in too many areas at the same time.

Having said this, I want to thank those many staff (in all its variety) and so many students in Years 6 – 12 (many in the School Play) for their participation in our 2 huge public events of TedEx and as a satelite of the Beaconhouse World of Tomorrow – A Festival of Ideas which took place in the month of November. There are far too many TNS participants to mention, but they numbered over 200 and they ensured that both events were a real success story for TNS in terms of team-work, organization and understanding more about our school’s capacity to stage serious events with aplomb.

The many TNS students performing registrations, ushering, entertaining and as members of the ‘Learners of Tomorrow’ team at the Royal Palm; as part of the Creative and Hakathon sessions at TNS DHA, made me so very proud of their behaviour, intelligence and real potential as successful, decent young people in life after school.

TNS salutes the efforts of Beaconhouse for staging this massive, entirely successful and very public event enjoyed by thousands of people.

A few quick reminders. We are staging a Parent Ed for Year 4 parents at both branches next week.

Invitations have been sent to those concerned. Our Project Presentations at both branches take place on 22nd November at Gulberg and 23rd November at DHA. Again invitations will be with you soon.

Our Annual Winter Carnival for Years Nursery to 5 will be staged at DHA on Saturday the 10 th December.

2016 -17

HEAD OF SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 11 November 2016 Our PTC’s for all classes Nursery to 12 will take place on 14 & 15 December at both branches and for all Years 6 to 12 in our Hall at DHA on the 15th December.

On our last day of the term (National holiday to be confirmed?) we will pay tribute to and commemorate the APS Peshawar tragedy at both of our schools before breaking for our Winter Holidays on 16th December at 12.30 – BACK TO SCHOOL on Monday, 2nd January 2017.

I want to thank those many parents who attended our Gulberg & DHA Iqbal Day Concerts. The various performances and commitment from Urdu teachers and students was a pleasure to witness.

Ms. Zehra Raza (a former teacher and parent) has joined us with Mr. Ghuffran to manage the Front Office at our DHA branch and I am hopeful that you will find them helpful and effective?

May I request you to ensure your child has his/her TNS ID with him/her every day. Losses of ID Cards must be reported and the card replaced to ensure our strict security process is not compromised. Also lateness to school (being 8.01 am) is unacceptable unless for extraordinary circumstances.

Winter Uniforms are to be worn as of Monday 14th November by all students. I can feel a nip in the air as I leave for work in the morning!

If you are a Year 4 to 12 parent you need to put gentle; then firmer then very sound pressure on your children to prepare for and perform in the various end of term assessments starting Monday, 23rd November. Remember we are partners in ensuring a successful outcome in this important process although I am not an advocate of ONLY grades and testing matter in a young person’s happy and successful growth.
