Principal1s Message As always the year has just flown by. The administration and staff have been constantly working on improving every aspect of the students' life. Be it better academic practices or opportunities for interactive activities to help children learn to grow holistically. Intra-Regianal Athletics Meet An Intra-regional Athletics Meet was held at Bedian Complex on April 5. Different branches of Beaconhouse School System participated from all over the Central Region. Our athletes gave an outstanding performance and returned with laurels. Amna Riaz VIII-H won a gold medal in high jump and a silver medal in 200m while Dua Baber VIII-A bagged a gold medal in javelin throw. FareenaAzhar XIC-B won gold medals in discus throw and shot put and a bronze medal in relay race with Mishal Shaud XC- A and Haiqa Ansari XC-D while Nazwara Ali XIC-E bagged a gold medal in 400m.
Intra-Class Matches Intra-Class Matches were held throughout the 2nd term to inculcate in our students a true spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork. The results of the matches are as follows: • Throwball: VI-F won the final match against VID while VIII-C defeated VIII-H and reached the victory stand. • Cricket: VIII-A played against VIII-H and won the final match amidst cheers from the crowd. • Basketball: XC-C beat XC-B and was declared winner of the game. VII -C lost the final match to VII -F and became the runner up. • Netball: IXM-B played exceptionally well and won the final after defeating IXM -D.
Beaconhouse International Student Convention 201& The first Beaconhouse International Student Convention 2016 was held at the Beaconhouse Yamsaard Rangsit School in Bangkok on January 20-2l. In this two-day event 130 students from Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Pakistan competed in a variety of sports. Beaconhouse Team from Pakistan comprised students from different BSS Campuses. The two outstanding students who represented BLL were Amna Riaz VIII -H and Dua Baber VIII-A. Amna Riaz participated in athletics and won the Best Athlete Award. Dua Baber was a member of the girls' volleyball team which emerged victorious and bagged a gold medal.
Trip to USA A 14 day fun-filled educational trip to USA was organized from December 20 to January 2. BSS delegation including students from BLL visited various places of famous cities such as San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, Los Angeles Hollywood Boulevard, Beverly Hills Miami, Santa Monica Bay and Kennedy Space Centre Orlando. The students also attended a three day Robotic Programme at NASA which offered them an opportunity to study robots. They also met astronauts and participated in various amazing activities. The trip concluded with a visit to the Universal Studios and Disney World.

International Kangaroo Linguistic Contest Nineteen students from XCs participated in this competition which was specifically designed to improve students' communication skills in English language. Angbeen Abbas XC-C was successful and bagged a bronze medal at the Junior Level securing 134 marks out of 150. The contestants also received International Participation Certificates.
International Behras Informatics Contest This competition focused on developing interest in informatics through solving various tasks using computational skills. Among the five students from XCs who participated in the contest, SaraAli XC-C won a gold medal at the Junior Level securing 93 marks out of 150. The lucky winner also received a tablet.

Laurels at Inter-Schaal Competitions
Grammar Film Fest A delegation of eighteen students participated in the Grammar Film Fest hosted by Lahore Grammar School, Johar Town on January 9. The participants took part in five different categories and won laurels. Sara Ali of XC-C won the Public Choice Award in Photography whilst Amina Haq, Minahil Ahmad and Fatemah Zaidi of XIC-D bagged 1st prize in Vine Making. The short film presented by the delegation was highly appreciated by the judges and received a standing ovation from the audience.
Master Chel Campetitian The Inter - school Master Chef competition was organized by Bahria Town School and College on January 9. The contestants included Arfa Amir, Ayesha Ijaz, Biya Tallat and Mahnoor Naeem from XIC - G Food and Nutrition Group. With their exceptional culinary skills, they prepared scrumptious dishes and won the 2nd position out of the 7 participating teams. During the prize distribution ceremony, the winners received medals and certificates.
Maths and Science Olympiad 201& BLL always provides its students opportunities to showcase their talents in inter-school competitions. A team of 9 students participated in the Maths and Science Olympiad 2016 hosted by LGS Paragon on April 20. The participants contested in three different categories including Maths Olympiad, Encrypteau and Building Astopia. Of the 10 particpiating teams, our brilliant students Umaima Nasir IXC-E, Haiqa Sarosh IXC-C and Maleeha Imran IXC-D bagged 2nd position in Encrypteau -an intellectual challenge which aimed to test Intelligence Quotient with a series of puzzles and riddles. The winners received a shield while certificates of participation were given to the entire team.

Bonfire
A Bonfire was arranged for the students to enjoy the winter season on January 15. The students thoroughly enjoyed the event and danced to the beat of their favourite songs performed by Abdullah Qureshi and his band of musicians. Stalls serving delectable food were set up to make the evening more entertaining and memorable.
MADS' 16- Mathematics and Divulging Science- was organized by the Math and Science Societies on January 22 and 23. Twelve teams from renowned schools of Lahore participated in a variety of activities focusing on creativity, teamwork and investigative skills. LGS Johar Town Boys Campus was declared the winner of the event and lifted the team trophy. The Chief Guest distributed the prizes among the winners and encouraged them to continue their effort in exploring various fields of science.

Film Ouiz On March 3 'Jinnah' was shown to IXCs to improve their knowledge of the historical events through a fun filled activity. The film was paused twice to conduct a quiz. After the two rounds of questions, the students were short listed for the final round. At the end ofthe film the selected students were asked one question each. The winner ofthe final round ArwaAmir IXC- received the title of "Historian ofthe Day". This activity was organized by the senior school history teacher, Ms. Waseema Khan. 5
Earlh Day Earth Day was celebrated on February 19 to create awareness among our young generation about the significance of conservation of natural resources. The Senior School Environmental Society organized a programme which included a quiz, video making competition and a mime. Ighna Daniyal and Rabia Nasir of IXC-D won the environmental quiz, while Avizay Atif XIC-E bagged 1st position in video making competition on "Waste Management". The students of IXCs also presented a mime on 'Deforestation' which received a loud applause from the audience. Overall, the programme was quite informative for the students.
E-5alely Workshops These workshops conducted by Ms. Sadaf Arif aimed to educate students about how to stay safe online. Presentations on various topics from identifying high quality websites to internet ethics were shown to highlight the potential risks that the digital world presents. The students also made posters on how to make internet a better place.
Workshop an Healthy Lilestyle A workshop was conducted by Dr. Nyla Iqbal in the month of February as pal1 of the child protection programme. The key features included the importance of healthy interpersonal relationships at home and in school. The presentations shown to the students also highlighted the value of healthy eating and sleeping habits including the significance of cyber safety. The interactive discussion at the end summarized that healthy living is successful living.
Videa Making Competition All the sections of IXC participated in the Video Making Competition organized by Ms. Waseema Khan and Miss Amna Malik on April 26. The participants compiled videos covering a wide variety of topics in Geography and History. During presentations, the contestants exhibited extensive knowledge ofthe subjects and offered valuable information. IXC-A won the competition in the Geography category while IXC-B won in the History category.
Farewell Parties 2016 The 2nd term is a time to bid farewell to the outgoing classes of XIC and XM. Two separate farewell parties were organized on April 15 and May 10 respectively. With the usual enthusiasm the hosts entertained their guests with sensational dance performances and humorous skits. They also presented beautiful souvenirs to their seniors as parting gifts. In XIC the much awaited title of Miss Liberty went to Ayesha asir XIC-C Science Group and to Zainab Shahid XIC-G Business Group while Ayesha Tareen XIC-E was declared Lady ofthe evening. In XM ayyab Sohail XM- B was crowned Miss Liberty and Ayesha Muzaffar XM- B was chosen Lady ofthe Evening. A lavish dinner concluded the parties.

Library Activities
The dynamic environment of our school library plays a key role in assisting students' learning and developing interest in reading. This term various activities were organised to foster innovation and inquiry. These activities included book reviews on the works of classic and contemporary authors and interactive discussions on a variety of topics ranging from historical events to current affairs.
Stall Activities
Workshops BLL is continuously making efforts to offer opportunities for professional development to teachers so that they can be equipped with the required ski lls to teach the courses leading to Cambridge International Examination. In this regard, Ms. Uzma Amir attended a face to face workshop on Chemistry conducted by the CIE Principal Examiner, organized by British Council on March 1and 2. Ms. UzmaAmir later conducted a workshop on Chemistry for the Senior School faculty and for the Sa~-IV in which she discussed lesson planning, paper setting, and how to design interactive lessons.
Annual Dinner 201&
The Annual Staff Dinner held on April 22 was attended by the faculty and the Administrative Staff. The Middle School Teachers awarded titles to their colleagues while Senior School teachers presenteda humorous skit. A musical band was also arranged for the guests' entertainment. It was overall an exciting event where all the guests enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
