Inside the Issue F.A.M.E 2015 Global Dignity Day Teachers' Day

Beaconhouse Defence Campus celebrated the much awaited 40th Anniversary of the Beoconhouse School System. The school arranged a special assembly in which the alumni spoke to the students of their experiences of ~ud0ng in Beaconhouse and how it had helped shape their future careers. Students recited poems as a tribute to their school and the school choir enthusiastically sang a birthday song. The assembly was graced by the presence of the School Group Head, Mrs. Naveen Shahid Butt. Later a cake was also cut by the School Group Head and Mrs. Lalarukh Amin Khan, the Principal, with the staff of the school. ~

F.A.M.E 2015 The Fashion Runway 2015 was a fascinating mixture of fashion, music, color and style. The categories were tastefully selected and comprised Tribute to the British Royal Family, Iconic Movie Characters and Grafitti. The show kicked off with a mesmerizing dance performance by a professional dance troupe which was followed by a superb display by our students as they showcased a collection which was a tribute to Lady Diana. The crowd was enthralled and this set the tone for the rest of the show. Defence Campus continued to entertain and amaze the students with the second leg of F.A.M.E; the music,extravaganza titled Battle of the Bands. The concert was an amazing amalgam of eastern, western and fusion music as our students and various other schools performed enthusiastically to the delight of the audience. From innovative covers of Backstreet Boys to 'raags' of classical music, it was one hit after the other. To top things, the climax of the event was a wonderful concert by the upcoming band SOCH. The judges of the competition were the talented Bakshi Brothers, of COKE STUDIOfame. Overall a weekend

Global Dignity Day Global Dignity Day was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and fervour. The day started with a special assembly in which the students performed a skit and recited poems and speeches recognizing the dignity of one another and co-existing while valuing the contribution of each person around us. The support staff were given a standing ovation and welcomed onto the stage amidst cheers and applause as the entire staff and student body expressed appreciation for their invaluable role in the functioning of the school. A special lunch was also organized for the support staff later in the day, and the school walls and notice boards were adorned with colorful posters ad banners celebrating the occasion.

WORLD TEACHERS' DAY was celebrated with much fanfare and a very enthusiastic participation from the student body. There was a special assembly arranged which welcomed the teachers' procession amidst cheers and applause. The students presented speeches, recited poems and performed a skit. all with one aim, to show how teachers are the building blocks of society. Later in the day there were special refreshments arranged for the teachers in the school cafeteria as well. The School Group Head, Mrs. Naveen Shahid Butt, was also present which was very motivating for the students and staff. The Principal. Mrs. Lalarukh Amin Khan, also addressed the assembly and thanked the teachers for all their hard work and dedication.

Prizedistribution for the Middle and the Senior section for the academic session 2014-15 was held in a special assembly on the 30th October and 2nd November, respectively. Medals were presented to the hardworking students amidst a lot of appreciation and applause. The Principal. Defence Campus, addressed the audience and appreciated the students' dedication and commitment to their studies.

Warwick Student Advisor A Visit by

Lately, a session was held wherein the student advisor from the University Of Warwick represented the University of Warwick in a detailed fashion, and also got students critically thinking about the reasons and procedures for pursuing their academic endeavors. He also informed the students how to go about writing their personal statements from the perspective of the admissions officers at the universities. All 21 students thoroughly enjoyed the highly informative and useful • session.

BDC Girls

Rule Cricket! The 0 Level Girls Cricket Team has made BDC proud by winning the Intra Region Girls Cricket Tournament held on 29 October, 2015. They played the final against the team of Sialkot and defeated them by 47 runs. Ayesha Jalal of Class IX was awarded 'Player of the Match' for her tremendous knock of 32 runs not out. Congratulations to the team and teachers whose diligent efforts have made us proud!

The International College Fair The A Level hosted a College Fair which saw a variety of universities from all over the globe, including countries like UK, Turkey, Japan, Canada and of course, Pakistan. BDC was delighted to recognize new names like Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), amongst well-established universities, including the likes of Alberta University and University of Manchester. Additionally, it was a great pleasure to have an advisor from the United States Education Foundation Pakistan, who guided students about the possibilities to an American education. The fair was thronged by the A level and Class XI students who got invaluable information about their future academict prospects.

BSSBasketball league Beaconhouse Defence Campus once again won the basketball events for boys and girls.The Girls team played the final against Liberty Campus and won the match with a huge margin of 18 points (21-4). The Boys team won the final against Canal Side Campus by two points (22-20). The player of the match for the Girls event was Mehak Naseem and for the Boys event was Talha Ashraf. BDC also stood second in the cricket event with most of its students winning laurels; Sadaan Khokhar won the prize for best bowler, Moazzam Ijaz for best batsman, Wali Rizwan was awarded the player of the tournament trophy, whereas Shahrukh won the prize of best wicket keeper.

More Laurels! Our talented students of A Level won the' House Trophy' at Grammathon' 15 (LGS Phase V) winning a total of five titles and being runners up in two. The trophies were Best Team Fashion Show, Winner Eastern Singing, Best Female Model, Winner Open Relay Free Style (swimming), Winner table Tennis (singles) and Best President Science and the House Trophy. Well done!
