The Original Gentleman Farmer Diner
Weiners are now on the menu — hungry yet?

By JENNIFER COATES
When George and Julie Trikoulis took ownership of The Original Gentleman Farmer Diner last fall, they had one goal in mind, to preserve this family restaurant as it was always intended to be — a family restaurant where the food is consistently delicious, homemade, fresh, nostalgic and comforting. Nothing fancy or pretentious, just traditional, wholesome food.
Owner and chef George Trikoulis comes from a family of cooks. For his entire youth, he learned to cook by his father and mother’s sides in their family restaurant. He learned to create dishes that pleased a wide range of appetites. He found joy when serving customers who loved his old-school style of cooking. It was these exact feelings that inspired George
to dream of owning his own restaurant. When The Original Gentleman Farmer became available last fall, he and Julie jumped at the chance to not only revitalize this longstanding diner in Coventry but to put their personal stamp on it. After some time, love and hard work, The Original Gentleman Farmer Diner is now uniquely theirs — and they are inviting you to come on in and eat!
Prepared from scratch every day at this timeless eatery are all those classic dishes that you love — from your favorite breakfast menu items of Eggs Benedict and home fries to stuffed French Toast, waffles, corned beef hash, delicious biscuits & gravy, and omelets of every kind! And this is just to start your day!
For lunch, there are all the traditional hot and cold sandwiches (can you say BLTs, turkey clubs, meatball parm and so much more) as well
as homemade soups, burgers, salads, and even the best Fish & Chips around! There is also an ever-changing list of delectable Daily Specials.
The BIG news coming out of the diner is the addition of WEINERS to the menu, complete with Julie’s very own mouth-watering version of the famous weiner sauce. Try the weiner combo of two weiners & fries for only $10.95. Just plain delicious. What are you waiting for?
Hurry to The Original Gentleman Farmer Diner at 2405 Nooseneck Hill Road in Coventry. Open every day from 7:00am to 3:00pm except for Fridays when the diner is open until 7:00pm. Call 401-392-0130 for takeout or to book a reservation for larger parties.
Craving the diner’s food but can’t get out? Door Dash now delivers!
The diner is always seeking to grow their team, come in and say “hi”!

GEORGE MATTESON: THE MAN AND HIS MAPS
Join Linda and Steve Kornatz to learn about local mapmaker George Matteson on Thursday, September 18 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Coventry Public Library, 1672 Flat River Road, Coventry. Matteson spent his life surveying the Coventry and Scituate backwoods, digging into local legends, and preserving our rich history. He was a forest ranger for over 40 years and served as a search and rescue specialist taking part in more than 9,000 rescues of lost hunters and hikers, 100 plane crash rescue missions and myriad forest fire patrols. Coventry’s own Paul St. Amand, who has carefully preserved his grandfather’s maps and legacy, will be displaying many of the maps at the program. Free and open to the public. No registration required, but if you would like a friendly reminder before the event, call Jessica at 401-822-9104 or email JCoppa@CoventryLibrary. org to register.

A dorm room is a drab room until you add your own personal touches. Bedding is a practical necessity that gives you lots of latitude for self-expression. Before you begin shopping, note whether your dorm mattresses are standard length or extra-long. Then it’s time to explore your options. While you don’t want to overspend on dorm gear that might get damaged, it’s also a good idea to invest in at least moderate quality. Look for a matching set for ultimate coordination or pull together your own look that includes a comforter, pillowcases and sheets.

High-energy ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ at Theatre by the Sea
Theatre Review by DON FOWLER
The theatre world has been inundated with biographical musicals lately, including Theatre by the Sea’s concluding show of the summer season, “Heartbreak Hotel.”
While I found the book a bit scattered, the songs and choreography (Nikki Snelson) more than make up for the disjointed story of Elvis Presley’s rise from an impoverished farm boy to the King of rock ‘n’ roll and his eventual downfall.
Joe Hebel gives a high-energy performance as Elvis Presley, moving his body with his singing and dancing, with perspiration flying from his body.
If you are looking for an Elvis impersonator, go to Vegas. If you want to see an outstanding actor portray an icon, watch Hebel. He is right-on expressing his anger, his uncertainness and his ego as he goes from a nobody to star to a has been. Laird LaCoste shares the role of the young Elvis with Brandon Lopes. A character who reappears during the two acts as a reminder of his Elvis’s humble upbringing.

Under the aegis “there are no small roles,” Fred Sullivan Jr., a Trinity legend who has performed major roles in 130 Trinity productions, plays Elvis’s father, Vernon. He returns in two small comic relief bits, bringing the only humor to the play.
Over two dozen singer/ dancers tear up the stage with high-energy (there’s that phrase again) precise dancing with beautiful costuming, giving Hebel much-needed rest between his numbers.
Act One closes with a powerful rendition of “Peace in the Valley,” while Act Two ends with a blockbuster of a finale that sends the audience home happy.
The book makes reference to racial tensions, hints at Elvis’s drug problems, avoids his later weight issues and ends before his tragic final years.
Forget about the story. You already know it. Enjoy the music, dancing and performances of the outstanding cast.
At Theatre by the Sea through September 14. For tickets, visit theatrebythesea.com/elvis.
