DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to have my sins forgiven. I believe Jesus died for my sins, was buried, and rose to life. I ask Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I ask that my sins will be forgiven and that you will direct my life. I pray in the Name of Your Precious, Beloved, Eternal Son, Jesus. AMEN.

How to Build a Sustainable Home

Rising fuel costs and increased awareness of society’s environmental impacts have many homeowners looking to leverage sustainable building materials to reduce the amount of energy used to heat and cool their houses.

If you’re starting construction on the home of your dreams, consider the benefits of building with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind.

Here are a few tips to follow before beginning to build your sustainable dream home.

Create a Reasonable (and Flexible) Budget

As the first step for any new build, creating a budget that fits your means is critical. Remember, new construction is often a fluid process, meaning you may need to cut back in certain areas to balance out unforeseen costs or desires to go above and beyond on amenities that are important to you.

Hire the Right Construction Professionals

Even if you consider yourself handy or a DIY pro, new construction isn’t a project to go at alone. Do your research on local professionals like architects, contractors and others who are experienced in sustainable construction. Contact trusted friends, family and neighbors

for references and read reviews online to gather options before requesting bids or signing contracts.

greater design flexibility to build your dream home according to your desired interior and exterior aesthetic specifications.

Select Eco-Friendly Materials

While installing energy-efficient appliances and high-quality windows and doors are obvious examples of eco-friendly materials, there are other solutions to help you go green in your new home. Consider options like countertops made from recycled glass or reclaimed bricks for fireplaces and accent pieces.

Power Your Home with Renewable Energy

If it’s within your budget, you can take your new home to the next level by powering it with renewable energy like solar or wind. Typically installed on the roof, solar panels harness the sun’s rays and convert that energy to power your home. An additional benefit: You may save money in the long-run on electricity bills.

Over separate bowl, sprinkle ball-shaped pops with pastel sprinkles. To keep ball shape, let dry by sticking in piece of hard foam. Bunnies can dry face side up on parchment paper. After bunnies are dry, use edible markers to make face and color in ears.

When carrots and leaves are dry, remelt orange melts and place in piping or zip-top bag. Cut off tip and drizzle orange over carrots. Add small line of orange on each ice pop stick and place leaves on each stick. Let dry.

FAMILY

Holiday hams and deviled eggs may take center stage at Easter gatherings, but edible crafts offer a reminder of the magic of the season that’s found in moments spent together. Simple recipes that call for a dose of creativity are perfect ways to bring the kids to the kitchen, made even easier when all that work leads to sweet treats.

While plastic eggs may have led to a decline in good, old-fashioned egg-dyeing, there are still fun ways to bring crafts back to Easter celebrations. Consider these Kids Krafty Easter Cake Pops, which call for little ones to help dip seasonal shapes in chocolate, use cake molds and more.

Children of virtually any age can relish in the joys of using cookie cutters and decorating Easter Sugar Cookies, all with a little supervision and short list of instructions. This version shows how to make the cookies and homemade icing so you can create any color you desire for maximum creativity.

Remember, these delicious crafts don’t have to be perfect – having fun and making memories that last a lifetime are what make Easter truly special.

Seizing the Moment

n the realm of real estate, timing is often paramount, and for many homeowners, the current market conditions present a golden opportunity to sell. From favorable economic indicators to shifting demographics, several factors have converged to create an unprecedented moment for selling property. In this article, we’ll explore why now is perhaps the best time in our adult lives to sell real estate and how homeowners can capitalize on this advantageous window of opportunity.

1. Historically Low Inventory: The real estate market is currently experiencing historically low inventory levels, meaning there are fewer homes available for sale than there are buyers seeking properties. This imbalance between supply and demand has created a seller’s market, where homeowners have the upper hand in negotiations and can command top dollar for their properties. Currently, Rhode Island has about a month of single-family home inventory for sale. A six month supply is necessary for a balanced market.

2. Strong Buyer Demand: Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, buyer demand for homes remains robust. This heightened demand, coupled with limited inventory, has led to increased competition among buyers, driving up home prices in many markets.

3. Rising Home Values: Home values have been steadily appreciating in recent years, with many homeowners seeing significant gains in equity. Selling your home now allows you to capitalize on this appreciation and unlock the equity you’ve built up over time. By selling at the peak of the market, you stand to realize a substantial return on your investment and potentially walk away with a sizable profit.

4. Changing Lifestyle Preferences: The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted many people to reassess their living situations and prioritize factors such as space, comfort, and flexibility. As remote work becomes more prevalent and urban amenities lose their appeal, suburban and rural areas are experiencing increased demand from buyers seeking larger homes, outdoor space, and a better

quality of life. If your property offers these coveted features, now is an opportune time to sell.

5. Optimal Selling Conditions: Spring and early summer traditionally mark the peak homebuying season, as buyers emerge from winter hibernation and embark on their house-hunting journey. The warmer weather, longer days, and blooming landscapes create an ideal backdrop for showcasing your home and attracting potential buyers. By timing your listing strategically, you can capitalize on the heightened market activity and maximize your chances of a successful sale.

For homeowners contemplating selling their properties, the current market conditions present a unique window of opportunity to capitalize on strong buyer demand, limited inventory, and rising home values. By leveraging these favorable conditions and timing your listing strategically,

you can maximize your equity, secure a lucrative sale, and embark on your next chapter with confidence. Now truly is the best time in our adult lives to sell real estate, and savvy homeowners would be wise to seize the moment and make the most of this unprecedented opportunity.

VINTAGE

The 2024 Baltimore Antique Arms Show

very March the Maryland Arms Collectors Association holds their annual antique arms show at the state fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. It’s a great time to search the show tables for interesting things, learn something new, and most importantly visit with like-minded friends and see people after a long winter. This year’s show didn’t disappoint. It truly is the best show of the year for me based upon the material that is for sale - I like the early stuff!

I drove down very early on Friday morning and arrived before the show opened for dealers. With most of them lined up waiting to get in it was an opportunity to find friends in line and chat a bit. Set-up is always a little chaotic as dealers make their trips in and out to gather their goodies to put out for sale, but it wasn’t too long before they were open for business. I normally wait a bit to walk the isles, but this year I got right into it. My age is catching up with me as my feet were killing me by Friday evening, but it was well worth the first

walk around. I saw some cool early muskets, swords, as well as accoutrements I hadn’t seen before.

The evenings are a chance to have dinner with folks and return to the hotel lobby for a few cocktails and banter with fellow collectors and

museum people. Both evenings I was there, we had some very interesting conversations about Revolutionary War canteens, arms, and other things that might bore the crap out of many people, but I found it fascinating, educational, and entertaining.

There is a worry in the collecting community that there are a lot of older folks and not a lot of younger people coming to the shows; There is a lot of attrition with some of the older dealers retiring or passing on. While most of the dealers are older, I always watch the crowd to see if there are younger people wandering the show. This year, the crowds were rather large, and the isles were filled with people. I saw many in their 20s to 50s, which was a positive sign the shows will go on. It does seem to me that a lot of the younger folks are collecting World War II and not the earlier material, although I did see some with Civil War items in their hands.

As I wanted to get home and see my wife and dogs, and get some work done before Monday morning, I left early Sunday with a slight hangover and a lot to ponder on the drive back. All in all, this year’s show was a lot of fun and well worth going. It was well attended by dealers as well as show goers, and I look forward to returning next year for more good historical stuff and evening shenanigans!

For Christians around the globe, Holy Week is by far the most consecrated and sacred week of the year. It was the last week of Christ’s mortal life and represents the final days of His mortal mission on the earth. It is also the time when we pause from our worldly cares and reverence His sacrifice ~ the time when He laid down His life on the cross to give us eternal life through His death and resurrection. It is a time of rejoicing and gratitude.

For congregants of The Chapel of St. Therese of Lisieux, it is also a time of deep reflection, a time when they quite literally emerge from the darkness of their shortcomings and transgressions and into the light of Christ. He is the light of the world.

The Chapel of St. Therese of Lisieux is in West Warwick but its members come from across every demographic,

every zip code, every walk of life. They are united in their desire to worship in an environment which does not categorize or label them in any way other than that they are believers in Christ and children of God.

This is an inclusive Catholic Community that functions outside the jurisdiction of Rome. The community is guided by this mission: “To make our faith experience relevant by being an inclusive, ministry-centered community that makes the living Jesus present in our world in a radical way. The mission of ‘Saint T’s’ (as it is affectionately known) is simply stated:

‘To welcome ALL; To be the Body of Christ; To be growing disciples who are growing disciples.’”

At this special season of the year, members of the congregation gathered weekly to study a contemporary book

Edward

called Come Forth by author James Martin. The book centers around Christ’s greatest miracle, the raising of Lazarus from the dead. It is a message to all of Christ’s great miraculous power and His humanity. There are some personal celebrations also occurring at Saint T’s

at the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday, March 30th at 8:00pm. Included in this Mass will be the spiritual “initiations” of seven Catechumens, or members of the congregation who will be receiving the Sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and their First Communion as grown adults. What a milestone moment for

these individuals who missed this opportunity as children but who now take upon them this mantle of faith, commitment, and devotion. All are invited to join these Catechumens on this glorious occasion.

Easter is a time of rebirth. Come feel reborn at this inclusive and welcoming church.

The Chapel of St. Therese is located at 1500 Main Street in West Warwick. Services are held every Sunday at 10:30, including this Sunday’s Easter Mass. Feel free to call 401-680-9076 or email stocc1500@gmail.com for more information. You can also find them a www. go1500.org.
