May 20, RDS: La Rochelle earned their second C-Cup running in a comeback for the ages over a heavily favored, Sextonless Leinster, who were playing at home in front of their faithful at Lansdowne Road; The Irish club went up 17-nil after 13 minutes of play and it appeared the French XV were destined to fail miserably as master scrumhalf, Tawera Kerr Barlow (he’s available for selection, Mr. Jones!), received a yellow ticket in the 11th minute; visiting midfielder, Jonathan Danty, touched down a short-handed try in the 21st, converted by 10, Antoine Hastoy, and Danty center partner touched down a second for Hastoy’s completion, yet La Rochelais were still behind 14-23 at the half; big dif in the fractious affair for the last half as travelers returned, outscoring the homeys 13-3 in the second stanza for the 27 – 26 pippage.

May 27, Twickenham, 8am MST: Saracens, the club if you’ll recall that were forced into the 2nd Division in 2020, reclaimed dominance in the English League by topping Sale Sharks with nary a wurry [sic], 35 – 25, at the Hall of Rugby Justice in London; 13 for Sarries 10, captain Owen Farrell, on 2-and-3 from his tee as the champions took both halves in relative comfort; couple of yellow cards dealt by top British referee, Luke Pearce, no real effect on either side other than a penalty try awarded to Saracens when Tom Curry eliminated Max Malins from play unfairly.

May 27, Capetown Stadium, 10:30 MST: Munster Rugby, after edging highly regarded Leinster by a point in the semifinals, topped DHL Stormers on the trot, 19 – 14, in a surprise victory on the southern tip of Africa; homeboys looked the business, going ahead 7-0 in the 7th minute on a try and his own conversion by 10, Manie Libbok, but two trys and one conversion for the travelers had the Irish up, 12-7, at the half; Host went back in front, 14-12 after a try by blindside, Deon Fourie, in the 47th , but a grounding by openside, John Hodnett, and conversion and conversion by 10, Jack Crowley, near time made the difference and the unlikely win for trotters at 19 – 14;

June 17, Stade de France, 1pm MST: The Top pair of Orange 14 clubs went after the pill with a vengeance in the French Cathedral of Rugby; Toulouse 10, Romaine Ntamack vindicated his butchery of a kick for touch late in the match that went into goal by stepping inside an overeager La Rochelle defenseman, bursting through a gaper then to touch down the winner close to time regaining advantage and claiming the 22nd Toulouse title by tallies of 29 and 26 at the end of the day.

June 24, Waikato Stadium, 1am MST: Chiefs could not overcome three yellow tickets issued by field magistrate, Ben O’Keefe, as the last card awarded to All Blacks captain, Sam Cane, enabled visiting Crusaders to return for 10 unanswered in the last ten minutes and the visitors brought home their fifth Super Rugby Cup in a row by a final score of 25 – 20; Los Jefes pretty much won most aspects of play save for the sir’s favor in defeat; visiting 10, Richie Mo’unga, counted 15 on a 2-2-1 triple and number 2, Codie Taylor, got a double for the victors; home 10 Damian McKenzie left 6 points on the deck, which would have done it for Chiefs, but no;

So, if La Rochelle, top club in Northern Hemisphere, played Crusaders, best in SoHemi, at a neutral ground, who do you think would win?
