What started as a single hospital in Bryan is now a not-for-profit, faith-based health system with over 30 locations across the Brazos Valley. Major clinical specialties include orthopedics, neurosciences, cardiac, oncology and maternal/child care services. Celebrating our 75th anniversary in the community, St. Joseph’s commitment to our original mission has remained the same. In early 2011, St. Joseph Regional’s newly remodeled and expanded Women’s Center opened to mothers and babies. nursery. The well-baby nursery was also expanded as was the family viewing area. We’re proud to be the Brazos Valley’s busiest labor and delivery area. Last year, St. Joseph welcomed 2,154 babies into the world. Aside from our commitment to quality, St. Joseph is growing to meet the medical needs of the Brazos Valley. With a stand-alone ER, diagnostic center, Express Care and Physician Offices all on our new South College Station campus, seeing a doctor has never been easier. College Station Medical Center
Established in 1931 by its founder, L.O. Wilkerson, M.D., College Station Medical Center, formerly known as the Bryan Hospital, was the first hospital in Bryan – College Station. Throughout the 79 years of its existence the hospital has grown and developed, focusing on advanced medical care for the Brazos Valley and increasing its relevancy to our community. Today, College Station Medical Center (The Med) is a 150-bed level III trauma facility with an assessed property value exceeding $110 million, making it the largest taxpayer in College Station and a top five taxpayer in Brazos County. A benevolent community partner, the hospital supports numerous civic and local charities and provides an estimated 17 percent of its annual collections in underwriting charity care and helping patients and families with financial assistance. In 2007, the hospital became the official healthcare provider of Texas A&M Athletics. That same year, the hospital was named Brazos Valley Community Action Agency (BVCAA) Partner of the Year. Over the past several years the hospital has focused on developing the medical infrastructure and technology in and around its campus and recruiting primary and specialty care physicians. The hospital has a medical staff exceeding 400, with over 97 physicians located on campus. With over 300,000 square feet of medical office space, College Station Medical Center offers one of the most advanced medical corridors in the region. Numerous medical providers and physicians now call our campus their home. In 2010, the College Station Medical Center began an ambitious expansion project that will be completed this year. The project calls for 29,822 square feet of new construction, 18,566 square feet of renovation that includes: six additional exam rooms in the Emergency Department, an expansion of the Women’s Pavilion with 43 additional patient beds, including new labor and delivery suites, ante- and postpartum rooms and rooms specifically designed for gynecological surgery patients. Also expanded will be the number of neonatal intensive care unit rooms, making them private NICU rooms for families. The medical centers’ vision embraces partnering with local healthcare providers; examples include the multi-million dollar DaVita dialysis center, Central Texas Veterans Health Care Services, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, Pediatrix (NICU) and the BVCAA. The partnership with the BVCAA introduced College Station’s first Women and Children’s clinic within the framework of a federally qualified health center. Within the first eight months of its existence, this creative public/private partnership, in collaboration with six area physicians, cared for over 3,000 women

Scott & White College Station
Scott & White Healthcare - College Station is a multi-specialty group practice that provides high-quality, comprehensive care for the entire family. It is part of the growing number of Scott & White Healthcare clinics and hospitals serving Central Texas and the Brazos Valley. Located at 1600 University Drive East, Scott & White Clinic- College Station offers convenient and comprehensive care for men, women and children. This clinic houses over 30 medical specialties including family medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, obstetrics/gynecology, oncology, and cosmetic surgery. Also located at the University Drive Campus is a four-suite ambulatory surgery center. This surgery center allows the College Station clinic to provide outpatient surgery procedures; giving patients an option for surgery that is convenient and close to home. To meet the growing health care needs of the residents of the Brazos Valley, Scott & White opened the Scott & White Clinic - Arrington Road in south College Station. The facility, located at the corner of Highway 40 and Arrington Road, houses four family medicine physicians as well as a full service pharmacy, on-site laboratory services and diagnostic x-ray capabilities. Scott & White officially broke ground on the future Scott & White Hospital- College Station, in March 2011. Located at the intersection of Texas Highway 6 and Rock Prairie Road, the hospital and adjacent medical office building are expected to open in the summer of 2013. The facility will be approximately 320,000 square feet, opening with 119 beds and housing services such as a neonatal intensive care unit, full service cancer center, level III emergency department, cardiology services, neurosurgery and robotic surgery capabilities. Along with the adjacent 125,000 square foot medical office building, the project is estimated as a $165 million investment and will add over 400 jobs to the community. Scott & White Healthcare has expanded services to Brenham. Scott & White Hospital -Brenham includes a 60-bed acute care hospital as well as 128-bed long-term care facility. Along with the hospital there are two clinics, Scott & White - Hwy 290 and Scott & White - Medical Parkway. Scott & White Clinic - Hwy 290 has added three providers to Brenham including one full-time cardiologist, Pierre Zoldhelyi, MD and two primary care providers, Jennifer DeVoke, DO and Michelle Kuhn, PA. The Scott & White Clinic - Medical Parkway is a family practice clinic that currently has three family medicine providers; Robert Haydon, MD, Susan Miller, MD and Amye Lilljedahl, PA, who have been serving the Brenham community for many years. They hope to expand services in Brenham by adding several specialists throughout the next year. A non-profit collaborative health care system, Scott & White Healthcare is one of the nation’s largest multi-specialty group practice systems providing patient care at more than 60 clinics and 13 hospitals and hospital partners. Scott & White Healthcare recently began construction on a new Children’s Hospital in Temple, Texas. That will include state-of-theart facilities and highly-skilled practitioners in 40 pediatric specialties, including pulmonology, gastroenterology and cardiology. When the Scott 10 VITAL SIGNS 2011

& White - Children’s Hospital opens in October 2011 it will provide family-centered care that puts you and your family at the heart of your child’s healthcare team. Scott & White is also the principal clinical teaching facility affiliated with the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, with more than 900 physicians and scientists. Scott & White’s partnership with the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine continues to grow. As the College of Medicine expands its class size over the next several years, the Scott & White - College Station Clinic senior physician staff will continue to help teach the future doctors. Clinic physicians hold faculty positions and provide instruction for medical students at the College Station campus. Scott & White- College Station participates in clinical rotations of medical students as they prepare for their careers in health care. The Physicians Centre Hospital
The Physicians Centre Hospital, located at 3131 University Drive East, is a 16-bed hospital that focuses on bringing personalized, caring service to each patient. Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the hospital specializes in providing inpatient and outpatient surgery and radiology services in a comfortable, patient centered environment. Inpatient rooms are private suites with an adjoining sitting room for family and friends to provide optimum convenience and comfort for patients and their families. The hospital’s nutritional services department provides room service dining with options for patients on regular diets such as Lemon Basil Salmon, Skewered Sesame Ginger Shrimp or the everpopular Chicken Fajitas. The CEO, Kori Rich, received a letter from a patient echoing these sentiments; “The treatment I received from your facility was top notch. I had excellent care from the nurses, the maid and the nice lady who fixed and delivered my meals. I was treated with kindness and true care.” Over 200 of the area’s physicians and allied health providers are credentialed at the hospital; providing an opportunity for patients to request that their next surgery or procedure be scheduled at The Physicians Centre Hospital. One little known fact about the hospital is that it’s Emergency Room specializes in minor illnesses and injuries. The ER at The Physicians Centre Hospital is ideal for a person with a minor emergency as the wait will be short. Patients can receive the care they need and return home often before they would be seen in a larger Emergency Department. The Physician Centre Hospital has recently been named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence (BSCOE) by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Surgical Review Corporation. True excellent patient care is the result of both the individual surgeon and the facility at which the surgery is performed. This BSCOE designation was awarded in tandem to both The Physician Centre Hospital as well as Dr. John Mason. The designation enables patients, payors, quality organizations and others to distinguish specific providers who have met the requirements for delivering high-quality peri-operative and long-term follow-up care from those who have not. Texas A&M Physicians is a medical practice comprised of faculty and staff from the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine who serve patients of the Brazos Valley with locations in Bryan and College Station. As the only physician group in our community that is part of an academic institution, Texas A&M Physicians combines the mission of education and medicine through mentorship of medical students and residents while providing valuable clinical services to the community. In doing so, Texas A&M Physicians pass their training and knowledge to the next generation of doctors while treating the patients of the present. The Family Medicine group offers a range of services from prenatal care to eldercare, promoting wellness for the whole family, and the Sports Medicine division handles sprains, strains, athletic injuries and more with specially trained care at their new facility in Bryan at 2900 E. 29th Street. In January 2011, construction began on the inside of the first two floors of the three-story building at the corner of Broadmoor Drive and East 29th Street. The Texas A&M Physicians Family Medicine and Sports Medicine groups began seeing patients at the new facility June 1, 2011. Of the building’s approximately 32,000 square feet, the Texas A&M Physicians Family Medicine division occupies about 20,500 square feet. The space is used for a comprehensive family medicine clinic and for the education of Family Medicine residents and medical students. The clinic space includes an in-house lab, radiology suite, endoscopy suite, classroom, administrative offices and resident office space. The Neurology division specializes in headache, neck pain and stroke assessment at their office in College Station at 1602 Rock Prairie Road, Suite 4400A. In this facility, specialists use the latest neurological technology to assess, monitor and diagnose ailments of the brain and neurological system. The team includes the only EEG-EMG technician in the Brazos Valley specially trained to use a mobile EEG device to monitor a patient for 24 hours in his or her home. Located at the Physicians Centre, the Pediatric Orthopedics and Musculoskeletal Surgical Oncology office focuses on the needs of children and adults with bone cancer, tumors and musculoskeletal ailments that require specialized operative care. The Psychiatry and Behavioral Health division provides confidential, comprehensive mental health assessment and treatment with a team of four board certified psychiatrists. Their new offices at the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) in Bryan are part of 127,500 square feet of specially designed patient space in TAMHSC Clinical Building I. in the rolling hill setting, the team provides psychiatric evaluations, mental health medication and consultation involving addiction and substance abuse. This new Clinical Building I sits at the main entrance to the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) Bryan Campus on 200 acres along State Highway 47, which will eventually allow the TAMHSC to consolidate the many programs currently spread across Bryan-College Station. Fifty acres of the campus are for health-related public-private partnerships and facilities, while the remaining acreage is for academic facilities. The first two campus buildings to open were the Health Professions Education Building, which features a fully functional simulation center for educational purposes, and the Medical Research and Education Building.
