Howdy,
With spring in full swing, 2026 is already off to a fantastic start at the Chamber! I hope many of you had the opportunity to attend our 2026 Economic Outlook Conference. This year’s event was a great success thanks to the support of our sponsors and attendees. Our goal for the conference was to provide valuable insights, data, and fresh ideas to help set the stage for a strong and successful year ahead.
Another highlight this season was our Annual Community Impact Awards Luncheon. Congratulations to this year’s Community Impact Award recipients: Versy Picone with The Beauty Lab Suites, Jesse Ocaña with Jesse’s Taqueria & Bakery, and Dary Dega with DEGALLERY. We are proud to recognize these locally owned businesses for the meaningful contributions they make to the Bryan-College Station community by creating jobs, supporting local organizations, and strengthening our local economy. This recognition is made possible through the Chamber’s Community Outreach Committee, which works to ensure our Chamber represents the many businesses and individuals that make our community so special.
We also celebrated another successful Chamber Day, with over 150 volunteers visiting more than 1,000 local businesses throughout the Brazos Valley. This annual tradition is a reminder of the vital role our local businesses play in our community, from the jobs they create, to the services they provide and the economic impact they generate.
In this issue of Connections Magazine, we are highlighting an important theme: community wellness. Strong communities and strong businesses go hand in hand, and when we invest in the well-being of our people and our local businesses, our entire region thrives. Inside this edition, you’ll find an article that highlights wellness in our community, opportunities to give back, and ways to support the local businesses that help make Bryan-College Station such a special place.
With summer just around the corner, we’ve also included a look at activities happening across the community. I hope you’ll also join us on April 25 for the Chamber 5K Run & Walk in Downtown Bryan, a great opportunity to promote health and wellness while connecting with fellow Chamber members and community leaders.
Thank you for your continued support of the Chamber and for the role you play in helping the Brazos Valley remain a vibrant place to live, work, and do business.

Community wellness goes beyond physical health, it reflects the overall well-being, connection, and support that exists among the people and businesses who call a community home. When individuals, organizations, and businesses invest in the health of their community, they help create an environment where people can live, work, and succeed.
In the Brazos Valley, wellness takes many forms. It can be found in the local businesses that prioritize healthy lifestyles, support mental well-being, and create spaces where people feel connected and supported.

“At Stone Co. Climbing, we see wellness as more than just physical fitness. It’s about creating a space where people can challenge themselves, build confidence, and connect with others. Climbing naturally brings together problem-solving, movement, and community, which supports both mental and physical health.”
John Pritchard, Stone Co Building Owner
For many business owners, wellness begins with helping individuals make healthier choices in their everyday lives. At Clean Eatz, the mission centers around making nutrition both accessible and convenient for the community.
“As the owner of Clean Eatz, our goal is to remove barriers to healthy eating by providing balanced, convenient meals for busy individuals and families. For our community, wellness means creating a culture where people feel supported in taking care of their health, whether that’s through better nutrition, workplace catering, or accessible meal planning options.”
- Heidi Arriaga, Clean Eatz Owner
Other businesses focus on creating spaces where individuals can challenge themselves, build confidence, and connect with others. Highlighting the role that activity and community play in overall wellness.
Wellness can also be found in the environments where people rest, recharge, and experience the community. At Hotel McCoy College Station, creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere is key.
“At Hotel McCoy College Station, wellness means creating a place where people feel welcomed, comfortable, and connected. Travel can be busy and stressful, so we aim to provide an environment where guests can slow down, recharge, and enjoy their time in the Brazos Valley. Whether guests are visiting for work, Texas A&M events, or time with family, we strive to support both physical and mental wellness through thoughtful hospitality, including comfortable spaces, welcoming community areas, and an atmosphere that encourages creativity and relaxation.
We also believe wellness extends beyond our walls. By supporting local artists, partnering with community events, and encouraging guests to explore the businesses and culture of Bryan-College Station, we hope to contribute to the overall well-being and vibrancy of our community.” - Hotel McCoy Team
These perspectives highlight an important truth: community wellness is built through the everyday efforts of local businesses that care about the people they serve
Community leaders also recognize the powerful role connection plays in building a healthy city Bobby Gutierrez, mayor of Bryan, shared his perspective on how everyday activities and local spaces contribute to well-being
At the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce, our goal is to promote this culture of wellness by encouraging connection and collaboration among local leaders, community members and professional.
“I believe wellness is tied closely to community. Whether it’s meeting someone for a jog around Travis Bryan Midtown Park, taking a yoga class at Lake Walk, or spending an evening with friends in Historic Downtown Bryan, there are so many opportunities in Bryan to strengthen ourselves and support the wellbeing of others. Many of these opportunities are available thanks to our local businesses, and I’m grateful every day for their dedication to taking care of our community.”

Through networking events, ribbon cuttings, leadership programs, and community initiatives, the Chamber creates opportunities for business owners and professionals to engage, build relationships, and support one another When local businesses collaborate, share ideas, and champion one another’s success, the impact reaches far beyond their storefronts Strong business networks help foster innovation, create jobs, and encourage community investment, all essential components of a healthy and thriving community
At its core, wellness is about connection. It’s about creating a community where businesses support businesses, neighbors support neighbors, and everyone plays a role in building a better Brazos Valley. Through continued engagement and collaboration, the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce remains committed to fostering a business community where both people and businesses can thrive.
If you're interested in becoming more involved in your community, please call us at (979) 260-5200 or visit bcschamber.org to get connected with events, committees, and much more!

HealthQuest Home Health has proudly served the Brazos Valley with a steadfast commitment to compassionate, high-quality care delivered right where it matters most — at home. Founded in 2006 by Trini Perez, RN, HealthQuest grew out of one nurse’s determination to build a home health agency
that placed patients, families, and community first. What began as one nurse’s vision has grown into a trusted, family-led agency now guided by the next generation, continuing a legacy of integrity, clinical excellence, and deep community roots.
For two decades, HealthQuest has walked alongside local families through recovery, rehabilitation, and life’s most delicate seasons, always prioritizing dignity, respect, and personalized care. We are honored to celebrate 20 years of serving the community we call home — and we invite you to experience the difference: ask for HealthQuest by name when seeking home health care in our community.
“We are beyond proud to share that Hospice Brazos Valley has earned a 5-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the highest rating awarded. This distinction reflects excellence in patient
and caregiver experience, timely initiation of care, expert symptom management, and a deep commitment to evidence-based practice. For us, this isn’t just a rating. It represents every bedside conversation, every hand held, every family supported through life’s most sacred chapter. It belongs to our extraordinary team and to the community that trusts us with their loved ones. As the Brazos Valley’s only nonprofit hospice, we are honored to serve Brenham, Bryan, La Grange, and the surrounding counties with compassionate, community-centered care. Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you.”
- Cindy, RN & Clinical Liaison
The Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce proudly congratulates Karla Castillo, award-winning journalist with KBTX Media, on being named a 2026 Community Spotlight Award recipient by the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) Leading Women Express Network.
This recognition honors women who make a meaningful impact by supporting and uplifting others in business while contributing to the strength of their community. Through her work in journalism, Karla has played a vital role in keeping the Brazos Valley informed, connected, and engaged.
We are especially proud to recognize Karla not only for this well-deserved honor, but also for her leadership and service as a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. Her dedication to our community and commitment to supporting local businesses embody the values of the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce.
Congratulations to our 2026 Community Impact Award Recipients!
• Dary Dega - Degallery
• Jesse Ocana - Jesse’s Taqueria & Bakery
• Versy Picone - The Beauty Lab Suites
Each individual demonstrated a commitment to serving others and the Bryan-College Station community through their leadership, generosity, and passion for their work. From supporting local organizations and uplifting those around them to creating spaces that foster connection and creativity, their impact extended far beyond their businesses. We were honored to celebrate these outstanding leaders who continue to make a meaningful difference in the Brazos Valley.
