By: Laci Burnett
On Tuesday, September 30th, the High School Softball girls traveled to Albany to play against the Warriors The girls played a hard game and, according to Coach H, “[ ] we were able to play some great Softball and give them their second loss of the year.” Coach H was proud and continued to praise their hard work throughout the next few days.
Our girls came ready to win, and Coach H says, “They started their number two pitcher and we instantly started hitting her hard and found some gaps, and we had a really big third inning that caused them to bring in their number one pitcher [ ] ” Our Lady Tigers continued to fight hard and got their welldeserved win when the game ended 6-5
Thursday night, October 2, they headed out to play against the Bluejays at Northeast Nodaway and ended the game after 5 innings with a winning score of 12-2 They fought against them hard and got 5 runs in the first inning alone
They will continue to play hard in the Mid-Buchanan tournament on Saturday, October 4th Come out and support your Lady Tigers while they play some amazing Softball, and show up to Senior Night on Monday at 4:30

Ag Takes On Teaching
By: Josie Long
DeKalb FFA members had the opportunity to revisit Rushville Elementary School on Wednesday, October 1st. Through the program they participate in, students are able to teach third-grade students about the benefits of agriculture
This week, Miley taught the third graders about corn The activity she included was making corn plastic Corn plastic consists of corn starch, water, and oil, which is then microwaved to become “plastic ”
As Miley was mentoring third graders about corn, she found that the most enjoyable part for her was “teaching the younger students about agriculture and seeing the excitement on their faces ”
The DeKalb FFA students will return to the elementary school next Wednesday, the 8th, to teach students about Missouri crops.

Recently, I’ve been listening to The Cranberries and Blondie. The Cranberries are a group that formed in 1989 and were popular in the 90s for their alternative rock and indie music The Cranberries has strong influences of Irish folk and post-punk The Cranberries are popular for their songs, Zombie, Ode to My Family, Linger, and Just My Imagination. I would rate The Cranberries a 4 out of 5 because I like their music, but it can be pretty melancholy for everyday listening
I have also been listening to Blondie, who became popular in 1978 and continued to be well-liked until around 1981 Her most popular album was Call Me My personal favorite song by Blondie is Tide Is High, which was released in 1980. Blondie’s music is considered classic rock and Alternative/Indie music. I would rate Blondie a 3 out of 5 stars just because I wouldn’t listen to her every day, but I still enjoy her music

DeKalb Tiger Football Faces Another Tough Loss
By: Bella Beems
Last Friday, September 26, the DeKalb Tigers played against South Holt and lost with a score of 60-12.
Loss is an opportunity for growth, though. “We still need to work on some fundamental things like tackling. We were better in the second half at making sure we were in the right spots,” says Coach Wardlow Overall the best parts of the games were their kicking game, being able to recover one of Grayson Moore’s kicks.
The boys practiced hard during practice this week so hopefully they can improve for their next game, which is tonight at home against Rock Port Kick-off is at 7:00p.m.

Rumpf enjoyed the opportunity: “Jay, Amaiyah, and Zyler [ ] performed pretty well for a tough race I ran Cross Country my Senior year, so I enjoyed that atmosphere It was also nice to coach some kids I don't normally get to be around.”
What to Read :

This week I am recommending the book Light Lark by Alex Aster. Being the ruler of a cursed realm and not having the powers of said realm isn’t everyone’s first option Isla Crown is the ruler of the Wilding realm, a cursed realm to which she has the chance to help her realm at the Centennial, a game for rulers of the cursed realms to compete in to lift their curse This happens every 100 years for 100 days on the Island of Lightlark
All of the rulers are fighting to get their powers back and the curses undone. To do so, they have to kill one of the rulers, and that ruler’s realm will die off. So, Isla is fighting for her powers and her realm to go back to how it was before.
I think it’s a great book with many different characters and diverse personalities I rate the book 4 5 out of 5 stars I recommend this book for people who like fantasy novels that are more fighting than romance

WhattoPlay
By: Grayson Moore
need to leave the country, it was discovered that one of the members of the gang ratted them out which caused a big fight amongst the gang, and the death of the main character, Arthur Morgan.
If you play video games and are looking for a game with an amazing story and graphics, then you are going to enjoy playing Red Dead Redemption 2. I really enjoyed this game because of the massive map, realistic physics and graphics, and I never ran out of something to do
There’s always some kind of non-player character interaction when riding around on your horse, and you can usually just keep riding past it and ignore it completely. There are a lot of secret locations and items, and legendary animals you can hunt to make cool clothes out of their pelt.
The story, set in 1899, follows an outlaw named Arthur Morgan and his gang of other outlaws . There’s an opposing gang called the O’Driscolls and a detective agency called the Pinkertons The main gang keeps moving from one campsite to another in attempt to prolong their capture by the Pinkertons. Before they move, however, they would find a good place to rob that would give them a lot of money The plan was to save as much money as possible and run away to Tahiti Before their last big score that they would
Years after the whole altercation and the fallout of the gang, you play as John Marston, who was one of the members of the gang, and the main character of the first Red Dead Redemption game, set after the events of the second. Playing as John Marston, you run errands for a bit, buy some land, and build a house Eventually, you run into another one of the ex-gang members and he tells you where the leader of the gang is hiding in the mountains. Once you find and confront the leader he feels bad so he gives you the money that he took from the camp after everyone fought, and then you take it and live happily ever after That is until later in the story which takes place in the first game
If I had to rate this game i would give it a 9.5/10. I would give it a 10 if it didnt take so long to finish the story missions

What to Watch
By: Gunner Delp
Are you in the mood for a romantic comedy film and have no idea what to watch? Well then, I suggest you try watching the movie 10 Things I Hate About You It is a perfect mix of romance and comedic relief!
10 Things I Hate About You starts off with introducing the female main character, Kat Stratford. Later on, the movie takes us to Padua High School, where we meet our male main character, Patrick Verona. These two characters have no idea what kind of relationship will ensue throughout the film. Kat Stratford is a former popular girl turned tomboy Kat doesn’t much care for others or their opinions on her; she is a character who remains to herself most of the time, and when she does speak, it’s usually a snarky remark or a rude comment
Patrick decides to pursue Kat after being paid by a boy, Joey Donner, who would like to take her sister out. To take Kat’s sister, Bianca Stratford, out to prom, her sister must also be taken out in accordance with her father’s rules This rule is enforced by the father because he is worried about his daughters becoming teen mothers
Patrick never expected to actually fall for the school weirdo, and when he does, he realizes that he was never in it for the money. Eventually, this leads to trouble down the road, but I’ll leave that to the audience to find out.
10 Things I Hate About You can be watched on well-known services such as Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc If you just can’t get enough of romance, but are also looking forward to a good laugh, check out 10 Things I Hate About You!
Suicide Awareness Year Round
By: Bella Beems
People don’t just commit suicide only in the month of September. I am so glad that September is the month of awareness, but people struggle throughout the whole year.
I often feel as if people only pay attention to the number of suicides we’ve had each year in September, when in reality, suicide happens all year round
I want to remind people that even though the month of September is over, you are still seen, you are more than just an advertisement, you are more than just a video we are forced to watch in school, you are still cared about, you are still worth it
And everyone we have lost is more than just a number.
That person had a life, no matter what it looked like. That person breathed air, like anything living That person had a mother, who is now weeping every birthday That person looked at the same moon as you. That person matters.
And so do you.
