MIDDLE SOFTBALL WARMS UP FOR A NEW SEASON

BY: HELAINA GEOFFROY

On Thursday, September 15th the Middle School Softball played against Northeast Nodaway. Nodaway won with a score of 9-8.

This year's coach is Katie Crockett, who also teaches Title 1 Reading at the Elementary School. Crockett has 13 players on the roster, including Eight 7th graders and five 8th graders.

The team is focusing on knowing different situations during the game and being positive to lift the team up even when they get down. “We played very well and are starting to see our fundamentals and skill really come together,” says Mrs. Crockett. Crockett adds, “I have really enjoyed being a first-year coach this year with these girls! They are a great, funny, skilled group of girls and I can’t wait to see where the rest of the season takes us! I am proud to be their coach!

7th Grader Lauraly Lane has been playing softball since she was in T Ball. “I felt great because I got to be catcher, but the other ones I felt bored.” Lauraly also wants to add that “Besides the uncomfortable pants and loud bus rides, softball is fun.”
