COLORING BOOK
The beach is a wonderful place to relax and spend time with our children. Yet, there are many dangers that can turn a fun day into a tragic one. That’s why Hoag Hospital created Project Wipeout in 1979. Project Wipeout’s mission is to save lives and prevent injuries at our beaches, both locally and nationwide, by developing and distributing beach safety information. To help us meet this goal, Project Wipeout has collaborated with the Ben Carlson Foundation in creating this coloring book containing information on everything from rip currents and sun protection to practical tips on how to avoid serious neck and spinal cord injury.
On July 6th, 2014, Newport Beach Lifeguard Ben Carlson made a brave and heroic rescue that saved a man’s life. This coloring book has been created in partnership between the Ben Carlson Memorial & Scholarship Foundation and Project Wipeout, in memory of Ben, to help educate children about the importance of ocean water safety. As much as Ben loved to swim and surf in the ocean, he also knew the great importance of practicing safety first and we hope that you will too! The Ben Carlson Memorial & Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was established to help secure Ben’s legacy for years to come. This group, formed of Ben’s friends and family, provides annual Scholarships for college education, promotes ocean water Safety, gives back the Stoke to underprivileged youth and has created the Ben Carlson Memorial Statue at the Newport Pier.
