Many of our courses may be fully funded, which means you could study for free. Whether you qualify often depends on a few simple things:
If you're funding your own studies, spreading the cost can make all the difference. Our flexible instalment plans let you pay in smaller amounts over time, rather than all at once.
• Your age – different funding applies at different stages of life • Your employment status – support may be available if you're working, seeking work or on certain benefits • Your current qualifications – you may be eligible if you don't yet hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification Because everyone's situation is different, the best way to find out what you're entitled to is to contact us. ADVANCED LEARNER LOANS Studying at a higher level? An Advanced Learner Loan could make it possible without paying upfront. These loans help learners cover the cost of Level 3 to Level 6 qualifications, so you can focus on your future. Here's what makes them so manageable: • Open to learners aged 19 and over studying an eligible Level 3 to Level 6 course • No credit checks – your financial history won't affect your application • Repay only when you can afford to – repayments start once your earnings pass a set income threshold
• Break your course fees into manageable monthly payments • Plan your budget with confidence • Get studying without a large upfront cost If the course fees are over £150 and the course is 15 weeks or more, there is usually the option to pay over three instalments.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
HOW LONG ARE ADULT LEARNING COURSES?
Many adult learning courses do not have entry requirements, meaning an interest in the subject is all you need. Some industry-related courses at Level 2 and above require experience and/or an existing qualification – these will be detailed on the course information.
Course duration can vary widely depending on the course. Some courses like Emergency First Aid are one day long, with some in depth courses like Domestic Gas Foundation lasting a full year. The course details on our website include the course length.
WHAT COURSE IS RIGHT FOR ME? Many of our Adult Learners begin their journey with our Adult Learning Team, who are here to advise you, whether you are an existing Learner or are considering it. They will support you in choosing the best course for you.
DO YOU OFFER FREE COURSES? We offer a number of free courses for Adult Learners including Maths and English and ESOL. There are also free courses for jobs - see page 10-13 to discover these. There may also be funding available to you for some courses, depending on your situation. Our Adult Learning Team are here to offer individualised advice: adult.learning@burnley.ac.uk
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? Usually you may only need a pen and paper or laptop to make notes. If you are on a course that requires you to bring anything else - particularly with creative or technical courses – they will let you know in advance.
