lying enthusiasts can visit the Air Museum every Saturday in August to climb into the pilot’s seat of some of the most incredible aircraft in history. Guests will feel what it was like to be in the throes of combat during World War II or the Korean or Vietnam Wars while at the controls of a vintage warbird. Aircrafts on display will include the AT-6 Texan (August 3), P-40 Warhawk (August 10), F7F Tigercat (August 17), P-47 Thunderbolt (August 24) and F-104 Starfighter (August 31). Aircraft hangars are fully airconditioned, and the Open Cockpit visits are free with regular paid admission to the Museum. While you’re there, be sure to take the full tour, which features four hangars organized by theme (Pacific-Navy,

European-Army, Major General Kenneth P. Miles and the small hanger that contains the B-17 Flying Fortress), computer flight simulators, Tuskegee Airmen mural, Women Pilots of WWII exhibit, Korean War Remembrance Wall, daily documentaries, the large wall European Map with interactive displays and Freedom Fighter’s Café. A visit to Open Cockpit will make you look at the world a whole lot differently, appreciating those who fought for us all. Open cockpits take place August 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Palm Springs Air Museum is located at 745 North Gene Autry Trail, Palm Springs. Feisty Farmer She was fed up with reckless drivers speeding on the open roads surrounding her village in Sefton, England, so 71-year-old farmer Edie Pope took matters into her own hands, according to the Association of Mature American Citizens [AMAC]. The feisty farmer decided that if a scarecrow can deal with pesky birds that dine on

crops, a “scarecop,” dressed like a police officer with radar gun, might help keep the roads around her farm a little bit safer. It’ll take time to see if her solution works. The Association of Mature American Citizens provides the Filler Files as a service on issues of concern to Americans over 50.
