Former Secretary of Labor and Author Robert Reich Coming to Palm Springs

P

alm Springs Speaks presents Robert Reich who will appear in Palm Springs on Friday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Richards Center for the Arts, Palm Springs High School (2248 Ramon Road, Palm Springs), for the third season of the speaker series. A collaboration between the Friends of the Palm Springs Library and the Palm Springs Cultural Center, Palm Springs Speaks launched in 2017 and in its first two years has featured a diverse selection of internationally-known speakers and authors including Jane Fonda, Vice President Al Gore, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Emilio Estevez, Janet Mock and others. Tickets for the Robert Reich event are on sale at palmspringsspeaks.org. Tickets start at just $30 and will include a copy of his book “The Common Good.” Robert B. Reich is Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley and Senior Fellow at the Blum Center for Developing Economies. He served as Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration, for which Time Magazine named him one of the ten most effective cabinet secretaries of the twentieth century. He has written fifteen books, including the best sellers Aftershock, The Work of Nations, Beyond Outrage, and Saving Capitalism. He is also a founding editor of the American Prospect magazine, chairman of Common Cause, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and co-creator of the award-winning documentary, “Inequality For All.” Reich’s newest book is “The Common Good.” He’s co-creator

of the Netflix original documentary “Saving Capitalism,” which is streaming now. About Palm Springs Speaks Palm Springs Speaks seeks to entertain and educate while shining the spotlight on the written word and literacy for the Coachella Valley. The speaker series will provide access to culture and the arts with a variety of speakers representing many walks of life.
