Fabulous Fresh Agave works wonders on the appetite By Charlie Price
T
he mood—and the food—is always festive at Fresh Agave. We thank Rigo Garcia and his wife Cecilia for that. The couple holds true to authentic Mexican fare and the venue sparkles with a sense of Mexican heritage. Actually, the idea to bring the Valley something unique, food-wise, came to the Garcias while they were traveling through parts of Mexico. They admired “azure fields of agave” and now bring that feel into their venue. There’s so much on the menu that stands out. Starters like the ceviche (fresh fish marinated in lime juice, tomato, onion, cilantro and avocado), the queso fundido (a marvelous blend of melted cheese, mushroom, tomato, black olives and
green onion) and any of Fresh Agave’s filling quesadillas stand out. Recent dinners impressed for the portions offered and the nice array of ingredients. Consider the combination plates where one- two- or three-item offerings are accompanied with rice and beans and a choice of soup or salad. (We still rave about the flautas!) Here’s another great perk: the Skinny Margarita. It’s low-cal yet still packs a punch. Imbibe.
