Sunrise Service at Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Celebrate Easter Sunday at 8,516 Feet

ne of the most spectacular places to watch the sunrise on Easter is at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Mountain Station, elevation 8,516 feet. On Sunday, April 21, beginning at 5:30 a.m., celebrate Easter Sunrise Service with songs of faith, hope and joy by Abie Perkins and Natasha Carian … along with a special inspirational Easter message by Pastor Robert Sneed. The first tram car up that morning is 4:45 a.m. Reduced tram fares will be in effect until 7:30 a.m. with round-trip $15.50 for

adults and seniors, and $12.25 for children ages 3-10. Beginning at 6:30 a.m., breakfast will be served in Pines Café until 10 a.m. If purchased by 7:30 a.m., the cost for the Ride ‘N’ Breakfast combination, which includes round-trip tram fare, is $25.95 for adults and seniors, and $16.95 for children ages 3-10. The breakfast menu is also available separately until 10 a.m. for $12.95 + tax. Tickets to the Sunrise Service and Ride ‘n’ Breakfast are now available for advance purchase

by visiting the Tramway’s Valley Station or by calling 760-3251449 during normal business hours. (Note: These purchase options are only available for tickets redeemed 4:45-7:30 a.m. on April 21.) Tickets may also be purchased Easter morning upon arrival at the Tram’s Valley Station. Normal tram fares will be in effect after 7:30 a.m. with admission $25.95 for adults, $23.95 seniors 65+ and $16.95 for children ages 3-10. Easter dinner will be available from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. in Pines

Café, a cafeteria-style restaurant. Cost for the holiday Ride ‘N’ Dine combination is $36 for adults and seniors, and $23.50 for children ages 3-10. Reservations are not taken and tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. Peaks Restaurant will serve regular lunch and dinner menus during normal operating hours. On the first page, however, you can specify the county name or ZIP code of an area you’re interested in. After you click, you’ll

Who’s the Pigeon The slang term, pigeon, is defined as a person who is easily swindled. But, in this case some may see it as the pigeon having the upper hand. According to the Association of Mature American Citizens [AMAC] a bidder in China purchased a Belgian racing pigeon for $1.4 million at an online auction site. Armando, the pigeon, was described on the PIPA auction Web site as “the best long distance pigeon

of all time in Belgium, and perhaps even worldwide.” But, only time will tell if the bird is worth the price. Until now, the highest price ever paid for a racing pigeon was $450,000, nearly one million dollars less than Armando’s price tag. Kiss Me Quick Why do sharks have such a bad reputation? After all, thesaurus. com offers these synonyms for shark: discerning, smooth and profound. A Very Rare Avis, Indeed Authorities will tell you that male cardinals are brilliant red in color and that the female of the species is pale brown. Luckily, she was taking pictures at the time and was able

ROASTED LAMB CHOPS WITH CRISPY SHALLOTS AND POMEGRANATE SAUCE • 8 lamb chops or 1 rack of lamb, cut individually (8 pieces) • 4 large garlic cloves, pressed • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves, lightly crushed • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary leaves, lightly crushed • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided use • 2 tablespoons garlic powder • 2 teaspoons salt • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper Pomegranate Sauce: • 1/2 cup pomegranate juice • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar • 2 teaspoons honey • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper • 1 teaspoon cornstarch • 3 tablespoons pomegranate seeds, optional Crispy Shallots: • 2 tablespoons oil • 2 shallots, peeled and sliced • 3 tablespoons cornstarch • 1/2 teaspoon salt 1. Heat broiler on high or 400 F. 2. To make marinade: Mix garlic cloves, thyme leaves, 1 tablespoon crushed rosemary, Worcestershire sauce and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in large bowl. Add lamb; turn to coat. Let marinate at room

temperature at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour. 3. Shake off remaining marinade. Pat lamb dry. Sprinkle lamb with garlic powder, salt and pepper on both sides. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in large, ovenproof skillet over high heat. Add lamb; cook until browned, about 3 minutes per side. 4. Transfer skillet to oven. Roast lamb chops about 10 minutes for medium-rare. Transfer lamb to platter, cover and let rest. Use the skillet and drippings from the lamb to make the pomegranate sauce. 5. Place the skillet over high heat, stir in pomegranate juice, scraping up any bits of meat from bottom of skillet. Stir in balsamic vinegar, honey, apple cider vinegar and pepper. Bring to boil, then reduce heat. Whisk in the cornstarch. Simmer and stir, 5-6 minutes until the sauce thickens. 6. Meanwhile, make the crispy shallots. In a small pan, add 2 tablespoons oil over medium-high heat. Toss shallots with cornstarch. Cook, 5-10 minutes, stirring often, until crispy. Sprinkle with salt.
