Veterans Day in the Coachella Valley A strong tradition of recognizing all who have served

ere’s a round-up of some Veterans Day events in the Coachella Valley.

Saturday, November 10 Palm Springs Air Museum Veterans Day Program at 1 to 2 p.m. The renowned Museum celebrates its 22nd anniversary with thanks to all who served Our Country. The day will feature flight exhibitions, musical performances, birthday cake, re-enactors and activities for kids. At 1 p.m., organizers will unveil the newly restored T-33 Shooting Star aircraft and hold a special tribute to all who maintained and flew the fabulous machine. at 11 a.m. The Patton Museum commemorates those who have served in the military as well as General Patton’s influence upon the area when he trained American soldiers at the Desert Training Center. Palm Desert to Honor Veterans at Civic Center Park at 11 a.m. This year’s celebration of service members will feature keynote speech from Lieutenant Colonel Joel Schmidt, executive office of the 7th Marines. The day’s highlights will also include a pa-

22nd Annual Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade at 3:30 p.m. One of the largest in southern California, the parade begins at Ramon Road and Palm Canyon Drive and heads northbound on Palm Canyon Drive. Paradewatchers should stake out their

sidewalk seats early and can expect to see marching bands, local businesses, city officials and, of course, honored veterans. The event concludes with a post-parade patriotic concert and fireworks finale. The City of Palm Springs has once again been designated as a Regional Site for the observance of Veterans Day by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, one of just sixty events selected nationwide to receive this designation.
