GUITAR LEGEND PETER FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE Proving his instrumental mettle over and over again By Alison Elsner
G
rammy-award winning performer Peter Frampton became a success at the young age of 16, when he co-founded one of rock ‘n’ roll’s first supergroups, the seminal rock act Humble Pie, followed by The Herd. While well known for his session work and collaborations with such legendary artists as George Harrison, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ringo Starr, John Entwistle and many others, he’s most famous for his fifth solo album, the electrifying “Frampton Comes Alive!,” which recently celebrated its 40th

anniversary and remains one of the top-selling live records of all time. His latest album, released in 2015, is called “Acoustic Classics” and features stripped down versions of his classic hits, including “Baby, I Love Your Way,” “Lines On My Face,” “Do You Feel Like I Do,” “Show Me The Way” and more. He remains well known for tunes like “Breaking All the Rules” and “I’m in You,” which are staples on classic rock radio. Additionally, Frampton has reissued his critically lauded album “Fingerprints” via his own imprint Phenix Phonograph. Originally released in 2006, “Fingerprints”

won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album. Frampton’s cover of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” off the album was also nominated for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. In 2013 he performed throughout North America as part of the “Frampton’s Guitar Circus” tour which featured periodic guest performers including B.B. King, Robert Cray, Don Felder, Rick Derringer, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Steve Lukather, Sonny Landreth, David Hidalgo, Mike McCready, Roger McGuinn and Vinnie Moore. Beatles” tribute on the 50th anniversary of their first appearance on American television. He was also inducted into the Musicians’ Hall of Fame and has appeared as himself in the television shows “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy.” This Brit who now lives in Nashville is one of the most celebrated guitar artists ever, and his show happily gives audiences a chance to be part of rock history.
