CELEBRATING THE RESIDENTIAL PARK COMMUNITIES FOR 63 YEARS
Palm Springs Air Museum Flower Drop on Memorial Day By Alison Elsner
As a meaningful way to commemorate those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, the Palm Springs Air Museum will hold its annual Flower Drop and Air Fair on Memorial Day. This particular ceremony is noted as one of the most significant throughout southern California and beyond. The day’s
events will include morning flight exhibitions featuring the P-51, P-63, C-47 and B-25. At 1 p.m., the B-25 Mitchell Bomber will drop 3,000 red and white carnations in remembrance of those who died while serving in our country’s armed forces. Following the Flower Drop, guests will be able to view the Missing Man Formation with
the fighter jets overhead. Other attractions will include the Heatwave Jazz Band, children’s activities and food vendors. A Beer Garden will be open for those 21 and older. Visitors are invited to take home a carnation after the emotional drop takes place. Guests are encouraged to bring folding chairs. Friendly pets on leashes are welcome.
The Flower Drop and Air Fair will be held on Monday, May 28 with flight exhibitions starting at 10 a.m. and flower drop at 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Palm Springs Air Museum located at 745 North Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs. The event is free with paid museum admission. For more information, visit palmspringsairmuseum.org
