CELEBRATING THE RESIDENTIAL PARK COMMUNITIES FOR 63 YEARS

Bernie’s Lounge and Supper Club Sinatra tunes and classic cuisine By Alison Elsner Clubby booths, dim lighting, Sinatra tunes and martinis - this is Bernie’s. After their Palm Springs location was damaged by fire, the owners started over in Rancho Mirage, and business is doing gangbusters. Options for experiencing this modern day supper club include cocktails and appetizers at the friendly bar. Drinks include the Classic Martini, Manhattan, Side Car and Rusty Nail. Craft cocktails may very well inspire you to break out in song, like “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head,” “You Make

Me Feel So Young” and “Call Me Irresponsible.” Happy Hour all night every night at the bar offers wines by the glass and bottled beers for $2 off, well cocktails for $5, rocks for $7 and martinis for $8. The bar menu includes 50% off of tasty house classics and an impressive wine list. The entertainment will keep your toes tapping and fingers snapping every night of the week from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The line up includes Patrice Morris on Sundays and Mondays, Chris Lomeli on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Brian Dennigan and Barry Minniefield on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and Linda Pe-

terson for an early set on Fridays at 5 p.m. The dinner menu is exceptional, with starters like Shrimp Cocktail or Oysters ($18) and salads like Caesar or Caprese ($12). Entrées include the Filet (10 ounce $40, 7 ounce $32), Colorado Lamb ($40), T-Bone ($38), Chilean Sea Bass with pesto risotto ($40) and many others. Classic sides include Jumbo Grilled Asparagus with balsamic glaze ($10), Sauteed Spinach ($9) and Twice Baked Potato ($7), among others. A three course Twilight Menu is offered for $29 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and

includes a Grasshopper or Pink Squirrel to sip on. Sunday brunch offers mouth-watering options like French Toast starter ($12), Create Your Own Omelet ($13), Bernie’s Burger ($14) and Seared Ahi Tuna Niçoise ($16). Don’t worry if you don’t feel cool when you arrive. By the time you leave, you’ll be the hippest cat around, ready to straighten up and fly right. Hours Daily, 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday Brunch, 10 to 2 p.m. Bernie’s Lounge and Supper Club is located at 69830 Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage.
