Tennis courts, pools and a large facility can be seen on East Roseville Parkway, this is Life Time Athletic, a place to come and get goals accomplished. More than just a fitness club, this is a place where people come and meet other families and individuals and spend time. Rob Chemaly, general manager of Life Time Athletic, understands people come here for more than just a 45-minute workout. “Our client is a person who is looking for a little bit extra,” Chemaly said. “We call and make sure you come in, we want you to come in and get involved.” The department managers meet to discuss how to make each individual member a priority to help them reach their goals. This fitness club features a café, spa, salon and tennis courts. They have a bustling bistro by the outdoor pool that is full during the summer months. The Kid’s Academy features Spanish immersion, karate, and arts and crafts. Parents can let the facility know what they would like their children to do while they are there. “They are advancing and not just being watched,” Chemaly explained. It is more than just a workout and leave. Enjoy LifeCafe and LifeSpa. LifeCafe offers healthy eating and drink options, including smoothies and takeout. LifeSpa offers hair, skin, massage, and nail services. For member information or to take a tour of the facility check out their website and get started on a new year, new you today.

It is easy to see why UFC is different. Various classes, personal training and gym equipment are featured. Group fitness classes include circuit breaker, which is a mix of cardio and weight resistance. “You show up, we do the rest,” Roschmann said. “We have all of the classes set up so that you can walk in and get in your workout without having to plan what you want to do.” They offer group fitness classes, so friendships and commitment to working out can be formed. UFC offers classes in mixed martial arts and Brazilian JiuJitsu for kids and adults. “We really want families to train together,” General Manager Bill Roschmann said. “We don’t want people to feel intimidated, it is a place that is fun and exciting for all ages.” Members of UFC can try a wide gamut of exercise from MMA fighting to high-intense training with the kids. It offers a free pass for those who want to check it out. UFC has month-to-month memberships with varying pricing.

T

he Megaformer looks like it sounds: a large, intimidating contraption. At $11,000 a piece, the exercise machine’s price is formidable too. “People come in and think they look like torture devices,” said. The studio opened in October and has 12 Megaformers for clients to use in workout classes she said described as fast, effective and flexible. According to Brown, Instaphysique is one of about 100 studios across the globe offering Lagree fitness, a patented exercise routine that combines strength training, muscle-building, cardio, flexibility and balance in 40-minute classes. Her first studio, on Fair Oaks Boulevard in Sacramento, opened May 2016 and offers 57 classes a week. The Roseville location was ideal for Brown

People come in and think they look like torture devices.” Amy Brown, Roseville Instaphysique fitness studio owner

because many of her Sacramento clients came from Roseville for classes. “It fits in my schedule really well and it’s only 10 minutes from my house,” Roseville resident Debbie Ryback said. Ryback has taken classes with Brown in Sacramento for about a year after hearing about the program from a friend in the Bay Area. Using the Megaformer — essentially a sliding platform between two smaller stationary platforms, surrounded by a series of balance bars, foot pads and pulley systems — clients complete slow, controlled movements. Exercises target

various muscle groups that may otherwise be ignored in other workouts and the process is high-intensity but low-impact, with no breaks between movements. “With most high-intensity exercise, you get a pounding on your body,” Brown said. Her clients instead choose to “embrace the shake” and find the slow exercises to be challenging but doable. Created in Los Angeles the early 2000s by celebrity fitness trainer Sebastien Lagree, the exercise routine has evolved over the years. The Megaformers in Brown’s Roseville studio are the latest model, the seventh version of Lagree’s original machine. Brown said the exercise is distinct from Pilates, though Lagree was a Pilates instructor and many clients expect a similar experience when they see the

machines. Lagree’s fitness method focuses on adjusting resistance and angles of movement, based on clients’ needs and abilities. For Brown, the flexibility of Lagree is what drew her in. Around the time the method was just getting started, the Sacramento native lived in Los Angeles and discovered the exercise through a studio in West Hollywood. Having tried Pilates, spinning, boot camps and running, this version of fitness finally got her hooked on working out. “It was the only workout I never got bored with,” she said. “You never plateau so it’s always challenging.” For Roseville resident Christina Sorenson, she was impressed by visible progress after four classes. Unlike Ryback, Sorenson is new to the Lagree method

“I know it sounds crazy, but I swear I’m already seeing results. I’m more toned and stronger than before.” Christina sorenson, roseville resident

and started taking classes in late October when Instaphysique opened. “I know it sounds crazy, but I swear I’m already seeing results,” Sorenson said. “I’m more toned and stronger than before.” Sorenson also likes the small-group aspect of the Lagree classes, saying it’s difficult for her to stay motivated when working out on her own because she gets distracted. Lagree has a mind-body connection she hasn’t found in other exercise regimens.

INSTAPHYSIQUE WHERE: 1470 Eureka Road, Suite 100, Roseville WHEN: 7 days a week, class times vary from 5:40 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. COST: $28 per a class or $12 for first class. Packages are available. Full schedule and pricing details online. INFO: 916-692-3263 or instaphysique.com

Most of Brown’s clients are men and women in their 20s through 40s, but she has some clients over 70 years old. Pregnant women can participate with modified exercises all the way to term as well, Brown said. Clients who should be wary of the Lagree method are those who have chronic back pain, severe medical conditions or joint problems, according to the studio’s website. As for the Megaformer, Sorenson said she was apprehensive at her first class but learned to not be intimidated by the machine’s complicated appearance. “The instructors are really good at telling you where you’re supposed to be and what you’re supposed to feel,” Sorenson said. “Be ready to work hard but work at your level.”

By Paige Smith

S

pring cleaning, new year, new you, seasonal organizing, it is a constant reminder that “clean” is never clean. With busy schedules, family outing, and everything else in life, it is easy to just let go of organizing the home and the spaces within it. This year, take a chance to get it right and get clean and organized. Gabriella Miszti, owner of Gabi’s Professional Organizing & Staging Services in Roseville, gave expert advice on how to get a clean, organized living space, and how to keep it that way. “I am very detail-oriented and focus on the long-term goal: to be organized and stay organized,” Miszti said. “I am not only organizing my clients’ homes, but also teaching them how to keep them

14

After only one organizing session, my clients realize that they have plenty of batteries, light bulbs, markers, discovering that they just keep them in multiple places all over the house. The key is combining the same items and keeping them together.” Gabriella Miszti, Gabi’s Professional Organizing & Staging Services owner

in good order, maintained and how to stay organized.” There are many tips from Miszti for clients when getting organized. The first tip: Start with the inside. Inside of the drawers, inside the cabinets and inside of the closets. If the inside is organized and cleaned, it is much easier to clean and organize the rest of the room. “After only one organizing session, my

clients realize that they have plenty of batteries, light bulbs, markers, discovering that they just keep them in multiple places all over the house,” Miszti said. “The key is combining the same items and keeping them together.” For those who know and have used the phrase, “out of sight, out of mind” this is a major mistake that she sees in the closet organization business. The main reason

Once I have organized an area, the client finds that it is fun to put away their items, because everything now has a place. My clients start to enjoy their homes and tell me they love being there.” for this issue, according to Miszti, is that people don’t know where or how to begin organizing. This results in everything multiplied and cluttered in one space. “After a while the closets, drawers, and cabinets are full, as they keep buying more and more, having forgotten that they already have these items,” Miszti explained. Other common mistakes that are found when organizing a home or closet, is the wrong size of the organizing items such as drawers, shelves, and boxes. This results in additional clutter, items, and ultimately, stress. Miszti added that she uses a label maker to help clients understand where the items belong so the rooms don’t become messy, cluttered and disorganized in the future. “Once I have organized an area, the client finds that it is fun to put away their items, because everything now has a place,” she said. “My clients start to enjoy their homes and tell me they love being there.” With the excitement of having a clean and peaceful home, the time for guests, parties and more can be had without the hassle of rushing to get everything put away. Miszti emphasizes that the key to keeping things organized is to put items away, right away. “Once we find the right place for everything, my clients are happier, more peaceful, and less overwhelmed as they discover that they have so much more time!” Miszti said.

A TOUCH OF UNDERSTANDING

cultivates compassion By Tessa Marguerite

A

Touch of Understanding (ATOU) is a nonprofit disability awareness program based in Granite Bay. The goal of ATOU is to help kids of all grade levels understand what it means to have a disability, and how to show respect and kindness to others through workshops, activities and speakers. Leslie DeDora, ATOU’s co-founder and long-term executive director started the program, originally called Walk a Mile in My Shoes, with her dad in the early 1990s. “We break down idea of us and them — those with disabilities versus those who don’t have one,” DeDora said. “We ask the children what things are difficult for them and we hear some amazing things.” Since becoming an official nonprofit in 1996, ATOU now reaches interacts with an average of 10,000 students each year. ATOU travels to schools in eight counties, including Placer and Sacramento, and arranges a period of time to conduct workshops. Because of the variation in school schedules, each program looks a little different, but has the same basic message. At Oakhills Elementary School in Granite Bay, the first workshop was an introduction to what a disability is and what it might feel like to “walk in their shoes.” Meghan Adamski, ATOU’s associate director,

began by asking the second-graders to raise their hands if they had ever felt happy. Angry? Giggly? She then held a leg brace with a shoe attached to it and asked, “If you wore this shoe, do you think you could still feel happy? How about giggly?” The kids agreed they could feel the same emotions, but when asked if they could still be good at sports, the majority answered “no.” Adamski then played a short video showing athletes with varying disabilities who had impressive skills. The children, who seemed impressed by the swimmers, runners and baseball players with prosthetic limbs, commented quietly during and after the video.

Next on the agenda was wheelchair training. Outside their classroom, a row of wheelchairs awaited the kids who were bouncing with excitement at the prospect of getting to sit in a wheelchair. Program Assistant Nolan Nguyen taught the kids where to place their hands and how to turn the chair left and right. One student named Alana called out, “Oh yes! I’m going to have so much fun!” After a short ride on the pavement, they were ushered back inside where they could observe several prosthetic limbs and braces. “It’s a really rare opportunities for kids to hear these stories and ask questions that might be inappropriate in other settings,” DeDora said.

Other activities stations introduced the children to mobility canes and what it would be like to be blind. With their eyes closed, students held a white cane and walked slowing along the pavement, being careful not to veer off into the grass. An “invisibility activity” taught kids that not all disabilities can be seen. Using a mirror, students learned how it might feel to be dyslexic. The kids laughed at the difficulty of tracing a line on paper when it could only be done through the mirror. “It’s fun right?” asked Program Assistant Jana Suthahar. “But what if you were the only one in your class looking in the mirror?” A discussion followed about autism, ADHD and celebrities who also have “invisible” learning disabilities. After listening to several speakers share about their own experiences with having a disability, the program was concluded with a video about why DeDora started the program almost 30 years ago after learning that her aunt had a mental disability. There are 40 speakers with ATOU who have disabilities. Some are blind, partially paralyzed, have cerebral palsy, or use artificial limbs. One of the volunteer speakers, Dwight Lunkley, was in an off-roading accident in 1994. He was in a coma for three months, and when he woke, found the fire from

the crash had burned more than 85 percent of his body. His face had to be rebuilt with skin graphs and he now has prosthetic arms with two hooks on each in the place of hands. He was not expected to live, but now says he can do most of the things he used to before the accident. “You don’t ever want to give up just because things don’t looks so good in the beginning,” Lunkley said. “Never give up; never give in; never quit.” The nonprofit also has an adult version called The Spirit of Inclusion. Last year, three workshops were conducted for Roseville employees. “We help employers understand the importance of social inclusion,” DeDora said. “It’s one thing to be able to access a building or to be hired because of ADA, but it’s only a healthy opportunity if a person is welcomed socially as well.” DeDora remembered one experience that left an impression on her a few years ago at Greenhills Elementary School in Granite Bay. As she was showing some braces and prosthetic limbs to a secondgrade class, DeDora asked a young girl with cerebral palsy if she would like to share her story with the class. She had been treated at Shriner’s Hospital and used a walker. After she shared, DeDora asked if she wanted to ask her classmates if they had questions. “She called them by name; sounded like a miniature

teacher,” she said. The following week, a teacher saw her in a line of students to play tetherball; she had never tried to play before. Pushing her walker forward, she eventually reached the front of the line, set the walker aside and knelt on the ground. Without a word, the boy on the other side of the tetherball pole got down on his knees and they played together. DeDora said teachers have this program sets the bar for respectful behavior on campus. “Kids are brilliant,” she said. “They take this opportunity to learn differences of any kind.” DeDora said she hopes the kids learn to see the person first and then the disability. “The fact is that it is just one of many characteristics of a person,” she said. “It doesn’t define the person.”

very year people want a change, whether it is drastic or simple, the new year signifies change. One option is a makeover. The Vault in Roseville is a one-stop salon for the perfect makeover. Rosie Wescott, owner and artistic director of The Vault, wanted a place for guests to feel safe, secure and comfortable while receiving services. Each year there are varying trends for hair, the perfect person to ask about it? A stylist. For the stylists at The Vault, men’s

trends for this year are showing structure and beard grooming while women are showing the opposite. “Women are wanting to add texture to their hair and make sure there is movement, layers and more beach wave, natural flowing,” Rosie said. The Vault Salon is bringing in new products with an all-organic natural line that matches the skin’s pH level. “Many people with the new year, new you, people are focusing what they are putting into their bodies and what they

Trying to save money 2018? The Vault features six various prices for their guests depending on what they would like done and their budget. Rosie emphasized that they want to make sure guests can get the best makeover without breaking the bank. The referral program is also a win-win for friends looking to share in the new year makeover. With the new year here, men and women can come in and enjoy the specials offered to get a new look.

“If you send a friend in, they will get $20 off their first service and you will get $20 put onto your account,” Rosie said. “It is accumulative, so if you bring in five friends, you get $100 put onto your account.” While winter may be the time for a new makeover, it is also the time for touch ups and quick fixes. Whether it is color fading, dry scalp or frizz, The Vault works with all budgets and offers specials that can start 2018 with the best makeover yet.

oseville is full of restaurants that serve delicious dishes and during the holiday season, when it is very common to take the family out for a nice dinner, it is more desirable to order something that one would not make at home. Paul Martin’s American Grill has an array of flavors and selections sure to please any palette with a little something for everyone, including vegan and gluten-free options. For those who wish to pair their meal with a fine wine, here are a few of their signature dishes and kitchen classics perfectly matched with a glass designed to highlight the meals best features.

Salt and Pepper Shrimp

with Rombauer, Carneros, Chardonnay, 2016 This “wildly” popular appetizer is concocted with wild Pacific shrimp, lightly fried and served with a pesto aioli. It is one of the more commonly ordered menu items and pairs well with a glass of Rombauer, Carneros, Chardonnay, 2016. “Carneros’ unseasonably wet weather, uncharacteristically late harvest, and small yields produce this richly flavored wine. The buttery oak is complete with hints of tropical fruits and a toasty peach finish, and pairs with our Butcher’s Board selection of artisan cheeses and charcuterie or our Salt and Pepper Shrimp,” said Director of Marketing Terri Horan.

Cedar Plank Steehead

Prime Bone in Ribeye

Fresh fish is always something worth ordering on an evening out. The Cedar Plank Steelhead is a dish that is not easily replicated at home. The dish is made of fresh salmon, shallots and bacon, savoy spinach and topped with crimini mushroom jus. “(It) pairs well with Nicolas Jay Pinot Noir,” Horan said. The Nicholas Jay is a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, 2015 of which there were only a set number of cases produced, making the glass extremely rare. “This 2015 pinot noir, of which there were only 2,400 cases produced, expresses the pinot fruit and terroir of the valley. Showing black cherry and florals, this young wine tastes great alongside the deep flavors of our Cedar Plank Steelhead,” Horan said.

The Prime Bone in Ribeye is an entrée from the mesquite grill. All of the steaks at Paul Martin’s are grass-fed grain-finished, 100 percent natural Angus beef, hand-cut and grilled over a live fire. The 22-ounce ribeye can be topped with Chimichurri sauce, buttered mushrooms, fresh herb butter, shaft blue cheese butter or Napa cabernet butter at the request of the customer. This particular dish pairs best with Chateau Montelena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Calistoga Cuvée, 2014. “Enjoy the taste of Napa Valley cabernet. With dark blackberries and a hint of cherries, the Chateau Montelena is well blended for a soft tannic finish and a touch of concentrated strawberries. Drinks well and pairs with our psrime steaks,” Horan said.

split pea soup

The split peas soup is a Caribbean style vegan soup with butternut squash and Japanese pumpkin. Spiced thyme, ginger, garlic onion and a little coconut milk gives the soup its unique flavor. Scottish Bonnet which is a pepper native to Jamaica adds a bold flavor to the soup. Many order the Split Pea Soup in the half sandwich, half soup combo. Most of the soups served at JD’s are vegan, however customers can add chicken if desired. The split pea soup was the first Caribbean item Wolete “Sunny” Atherley offered as the new owner a year ago. Since then many other soups have been on the menu. Customers will never find

the same soup. Wolete likes to change it up. African Honey Bean, Black Eyed Pea, Curry Lentil and Pumpkin are some of the soups that have made an appearance. Wolete decides what the soup of the day will based on what’s on hand. “Beans are the star of my soup. They all start with a bean broth,” Wolete said. “It’s a protein-based broth. I also like to add sweet potatoes to my soup.” The soups are served with Jamaican water crackers which pick up the flavor of the soup since they are a traditional everyday cracker served on the islands. “We ensure the spice level is moderate. You can add more spice if wanted,” Wolete said.

Meyer lemon New Year’s cleanse

I noelle konrad food columnist

26

t is a brand new year with endless possibilities for what may lie ahead in the next 365 days. One of the top resolutions that cross everyone’s mind is typically, how can I be healthier this year? One fresh ingredient that can aid in the cleansing process after the heavy holiday season is a Meyer lemon. “All citrus is high in vitamin C. That is what makes them good for the immune system, especially in the fall and winter,” said Dr. Kemby Delellis of Auburn Naturopathic Medicine. One step people can take in jumpstarting a healthy new year is by utilizing all kinds of lemons and limes. The citrus carries the same acidity that can be found in a kombucha beverage or a shot of apple cider vinegar, which aids the function of healthy digestion. “Having a little bit of lemon water or lemon juice before you eat is helpful to stimulate and support your digestion,” Delellis said. Meyer lemons are a little less acidic and great as a substitution for the super sweet fruit juices or sodas consumed over the holidays. When water just doesn’t satisfy, adding some Meyer lemon juice to water or bubbly mineral water can curb that sweetness or even soda craving. “It’s a little bit sweeter,” she said. Also the pith of the lemon, or the “white part,” is really good for veins and can be used to strengthen and treat varicose veins. Another fun fact is that by squeezing citrus onto greens before you eat them the juices will draw out the iron in the greens for an added healthy boost. Giving your digestive system a boost for the New Year is a great way to detox and is not as harsh as some methods can be. “I tend to recommend first to basically go to a whole foods-style diet before trying any kind of liver detox or flush,” Delellis said. It can be harmful to go from one extreme of eating to the other, such as a juice cleanse. Doing so can often make the body feel horrible and if digestion is off, the body won’t flush out the toxins, but rather reabsorb them. “If you are detoxing you always want your digestion to be really good,” Delellis said. “You want your gut to be really healthy first. Whole foods and anti-inflammatory foods help that.”

Vegan Meyer Lemon To-Go Bars INGREDIENTS CRUST

1 cup almond flour 1 cup gluten-free oats 1/3 cup coconut sugar ¼ teaspoon pink Himalayan salt 3 tablespoons melted coconut oil 2 tablespoons coconut milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract CREAM

¾ cup raw cashews ½ cup organic maple syrup ¼ cup coconut butter ¼ cup plus 1 tablespoon Meyer lemon juice 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/8 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon arrowroot powder DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line an 8-by-8-inch baking pan with parchment paper. 2. Combine almond flour, oats, coconut sugar and salt in a bowl and mix well. 3. Add melted coconut oil, coconut milk and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. The result should be crumb-like. 4. Set aside ⅔ of the crust mixture and press the remaining into the lined pan. 5. Cover with a paper towel to avoid drying out when making the lemon cream. 6. Boil a pot of water on the stove. Once boiling, remove from heat and add cashews. Soak cashews in boiling water for about 45 minutes. 7. After 45 minutes the cashews should be soft. Drain them. 8. chronic pain

WITH FEWER OPIOIDS

T Chris Palkowski, MD Physician-in-chief Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center

28

he nationwide opioid crisis has been receiving a lot of attention, but we have heard less about the effort that hospitals, physicians and health systems are making to curb the use and abuse of addictive painkillers. My colleagues at Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center are applying the strengths of our integrated health care system to effectively help patients ease chronic pain, all the while prescribing fewer opioids. It may sound like an oxymoron to ease pain with less medication, but our results tell the story: We have reduced the number of chronic pain patients who take high doses of opioids by more than 50 percent. We are using scientifically proven methods, through psychosocial support and alternative modalities, to provide major relief. This effort started about two years ago when we created a Comprehensive Pain Management Program, which has three components: It helps patients understand the role that lifestyle, emotions and thoughts have on overall health; it teaches selfmanagement techniques to lessen pain; and it offers proven treatments for pain. This integrated, multidisciplinary approach involves a team of experts: physicians, pain pharmacists, pain psychologists, physical therapists, registered nurses, acupuncturists, biofeedback therapists and health educators. Educating our patients about their pain is extremely important. We teach workshops on how to manage pain that they’ve had for more than six months, often through mindful-based movement and skills to help calm their nervous systems and relate to their pain in a new way. Patients who take the series of workshops and four aftercare sessions report getting significant relief.

Another component of our effort, the Opioid Safety Program, is based on new information we’re learning about highly addictive painkillers such as morphine, methadone, hydrocodone and oxycodone. In the past decade, the medical community’s understanding of both the benefits and risks of opioid therapy for chronic pain has changed dramatically. We now know, for example, that longterm use of opioids for chronic pain is less effective and far riskier than we used to believe. The new standard of care is to prescribe the lowest dose possible, for the shortest time possible, and combine that with safer ways to reduce chronic pain. Through physician training and our new Opioid Safety Class for patients, we are making sure that both physicians and patients know the latest information about the risks of using opioids to treat chronic pain. Most people who take opioids long-term become tolerant of their effects. This means that over time, they need higher doses to get the same pain relief. For some people, the medication begins to actually make pain worse, a condition called “hyperalgesia.” Studies have also shown that higher doses put patients at significantly higher risk for accidental drug overdose, especially when mixed with alcohol or certain other medications. Additional side effects include constipation, sleep apnea and sexual dysfunction. When we looked at all of these downsides, along with growing evidence that opioids don’t do a great job of reducing chronic pain or improving function, we knew we had to give patients better options for managing chronic pain. An increasing number of patients with chronic pain are now discussing with their physicians the risks and benefits of treatment options and choosing a treatment plan that is both safe and effective.

financial things new year to-do list TO PUT ON YOUR

W

elcome to 2018! Hard to believe another year hs already blown by. With a new year comes new opportunities, and I have compiled the three “C”s you may want to add to your New Year’s to-do list:

COMPILE

garrett konrad

financial columnist

The first financial move I like to make each new year is compiling a summary of my finances. Things to include would be assets, debts, documents (statements, estate docs, life insurance docs, etc.), and a budget. This exercise serves multiple purposes. It is going to jog your memory on forgotten things from the year, like maybe that HSA account you made an opening deposit in and forgot about the last eight months. It is also going to help keep you organized for when you file your taxes or want to make sure you have gathered all tax related documents for your CPA. CONSOLIDATE

In 2017, I had the privilege of meeting and working with many new people. I am always surprised by how many people come in with a 401k from their last job, three IRAs, and a SEP IRA for their consulting work that is easing them into retirement. Are you trying to make your life difficult? Who wants that many monthly statements and that many website logins? Why not roll over the 401k and consolidate the three IRAs into one account? The

SEP IRA you may want to leave alone for now until you are done making contributions. Let’s simplify the next year for you. It will save you time, energy, space, and sometimes even money if your existing accounts have annual account fees or higher management fees on the separated lower balances. CONTRIBUTE

This was just the third word I thought of that started with the letter C. Let’s be honest, this article wouldn’t be complete without reminding you to check those contributions if you are saving for retirement. 2017 is gone and so is a year of potential for you to compound interest. If your employer offers a retirement plan with a match, consider taking advantage of or increasing contributions to get that match. It is free money. If you don’t have a retirement plan that offers a match, you need to evaluate if it makes more sense to save on a pretax or post-tax basis and consider setting up either automated contributions or at least reminders to make contributions to that account.
