Three engagements rings all varied in metal and style from traditional to more contemporary. PHOTO BY NOELLE KONRAD

Roper’s Jewelers

Roper’s carries a variety for holiday engagements BY NOELLE KONRAD

I

t’s the most wonderful time of the year. Families come together and gather around warm fireplaces and the feeling of coziness and love seem to fill the air. It is also a wonderful time for engagements and Roper’s Jewelers carries a variety of options for a magical holiday proposal. “The most simple option possible is you choose a ring that you like out of the case, you take it home and propose,” said Peggy Seitzinger of Roper’s Jewelers. “The extreme other end of the spectrum is we can custom make a ring from the ground up. …

A PRODUCT OF THE AUBURN JOURNAL

Every little step to it can have the couple’s own fingerprints on it.” The latter option is a more timeconsuming process, so be sure to allow at least three weeks for creating the desired masterpiece. There are loose stones to choose from as well for a put-the-piecestogether option. Styles vary, but the most common trend right now is oneof-a-kind. People like to have a story behind their jewelry whether the stone is an heirloom or it was designed by someone they love. “The overriding idea right now is people want to be connected to their jewelry,” Seitzinger said. “It’s almost as if everybody’s

rings look different now because everybody really wants to have that personalized bit to it, which is really wonderful.” Colored stones have even become a more popular option for engagements. However, some are better than others. Emeralds tend to be really soft, so for everyday use it is not the best option for a wedding ring, whereas stones such as classic diamonds, rubies and sapphires are stronger and can withstand more of the daily wear and tear. “Anything you can image we have probably done,” Seitzinger said. There is no wrong way to chose something remarkable for that special someone in your life and

Roper’s acts as a guide to find the perfect ring that best suits the bride-to-be. The designers range from national brands to in-house designs and everything in-between. “We like to say that we make magic happen here,” Seitzinger said. Wildflower

The extra little something BY NOELLE KONRAD

C

hristmas time is a time of giving. Gifts are given to loved ones and those who have touched our lives in some way. From brothers and sisters to bosses and teachers, there is always that one person who you aren’t quite sure what to get them this holiday season. On the other hand, you might have the perfect gift, but it needs a little something extra. Wildflower is the one-stop-shop for that perfect little something. The walls are lined with cards, scarves, jewelry made in the United States, soaps and lotions, candles, holiday décor and more. There is also a section of edible treats and sweet hot cocoa perfect for a pick-me-up on the colder winter days. “We’ve carried, ever since we started, just a little bit of whatever we wanted to carry, which is fun,” said owner, Adele Wise. “So it keeps it different. We are not confined to any one look, which is great.” Wildflower’s goal is to have something for everybody and items that appeal to many different people, from household goods and everyday items to unique holiday finds.
