Homeowner worried about wall cracks Dear Barry: Our home is less than one year old and cracks have already formed at the metal edges near the wall corners in some rooms. Our fear is that settlement problems are causing these cracks.

High humidity often occurs in bathrooms, especially during and after showers. When outside temperatures chill the surface of the skylight, airborne moisture can condense into droplets.

oday is Veterans Day. Please be sure to thank a veteran for their service and make their day. In fact, it is something that can be done anytime you see a veteran. If you have an American flag, please display it proudly. I believe this is a day to be acknowledged. These men and women we are honoring have put their lives on the line ensuring our freedom as best as they can.

On Saturday Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. the Veterans Day Parade will commence at the corner of Lincoln Way and Cleveland St. The parade will pause at 11 a.m. at the Central Square. There will be a brief patriotic ceremony with the release of doves, and, weather permitting, there will be a f ly-over and a three-volley rif le salute followed by Taps. The parade will then resume on High St. ending at the fairgrounds.

Quick ways to cut home energy costs With cooler temperatures coming, energy costs inevitably will go up. There’s no need to throw good money away, however, when even small changes can make a difference on those monthly bills. Many of us don’t take advantage of many simple avenues to save money, according to a new survey from SaveonEnergy.com. Only 14 percent say they unplug their home printer when it isn't in use, and six in 10 consumers don't shut down their home computer when it isn't in use, both of which could result in hundreds in annual savings.

How to break persistent buyer’s remorse Question:

I am afraid I am making my agent crazy.

When I started out looking for a home to buy, I wanted a newer property and perhaps a condo.

Then I changed my mind to a single family home, and now I just can’t decide; I feel stuck. Do all home buyers have the same worries that I do, and if they do, how do I avoid involving my emotions in the home buying process?

your search parameters such as, “We want to only pay 300k and not a penny more.” Then a home might come to market for 305k which is a steal of a deal and you might miss out on it. Or perhaps you tell your Realtor you must have the quietest street, then your dream home comes up with a pool that you wanted within your price range. However, your Realtor perceived a slight distant road noise and didn’t bother to show it to you.

It’s natural to want to discuss your home purchase with friends and

your specific knowledge that you have gained over the recent weeks or months. They will inevitably worsen your buyer’s remorse by making such comments such as “I hope you got 10 percent below their

asking price.”

Once you are in

contract on the home you purchase, it would be wise not look at any other homes on the market. Once you have selected your lender and filled out the loan application, stop listening to the teaser ads on the radio of unbelievably cheap rates. People that continue to look at homes on the market, tend not look at them in person, yet look at the tantalizing pictures on virtual tour websites and may become remorseful. Watch out for this pitfall.

When thoughts of buyer’s remorse enter your mind, think back to the first day you saw the home you’re in contract on. Remember the things that first drew you to the

home and the qualities that stand out in this home above all the other ones you looked at. Staying with this focus will keep distractions out of your way during your sale.
