‘Footloose’
Cuts Loose at Palm Canyon Theatre An iconic story from the ‘80s will dance its way to the Palm Canyon Theatre, as Footloose opens there July 8. The musical is based on the Paramount Pictures film of the same name and includes favorite hits as “Footloose,” “Let’s Hear it for the Boy,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Almost Paradise,” “I’m Free,” and more. The story centers around Ren McCormack, played by Bobby Burkich, who moves to a small town where the local government has banned dancing and rock music. As Ren deals with common coming-of-age issues, he also manages to lead his classmates around the law and Reverend Shaw Moore, played by John Lawson, to have a real senior prom. This is Burkich and Lawson’s first production with Palm Canyon Theatre, but they are both seasoned actors. Originally from New York, Burkich currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He was recently in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at the Glendale Centre Theatre, and following Footloose, he will be back in Glendale as Billy Crocker in Anything Goes. Lawson has been acting for decades including roles on the long-running television series “Law and Order” and “Law and Order: SVU.”
